  1. I am installing an HD-CVI 960p system on my property (business) and I have cable runs that go up to 200 meters. I want to know if I can get by using rg59 (solid copper, high quality, direct burial - something I already have) or if I will be better served by rg6 (same quality as rg59).

Essentially, I am asking if I stand to gain anything in the way of image quality by using rg6 at that distance. OR, at what distance would rg6 make a difference in image quality - assuming all cables are high quality, solid copper?

As long as full copper RG59 or RG6 also will give the same quality @200 meter

  2. I dont understand show me a link with prices...how much did you pay for each?

Also you need to compare the cvi to this, which is the same design...not to a totally different design IPC-HFW4200S

    http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hfw4200s-397.html

I live in another country. They don't have the 4200S. Only the 4200E where I bought 3 pcs.. then realized the cvi costs 2.45 times less. The 4200S and 4200E both have the same 1/2.8" sony sensor and everything the same except I think the housing and the IR leds.. don't you agree?

I should have gotten the 3mp aptina sensor as buelllkingle reports has better dynamic range than the sony exmor.

I used them at business. Now I need another set of cctv for my home and wondering whether to get cvi or the 5mp ip cam to monitor the doorway.

Do you have any idea how exactly they modify the analog output of the cvi to travel in the coaxial? Like can you put a monitor direct to the cvi? what conversion logarithm say an adaptor must need to convert the signal to that of standard video?

CVI signal cannot be view using a normal monitor. The CVI chip is actually a transport for the HD signal. In simple terms, Camera side encode & the DVR side decode. Currently only encounter CVI fiber converter & yet to have seen CVI to Analog.

And if you compare the distributor pricing for HAC-HFW2200S & PC-HFW4200S it is about double. End user pricing may varies due to company markup.

  3. I can't find this in the net. Can you turn WDR (Wide Dynamic Range) on and off in the Hd-cvi? If not.. is their default on or off?

Here is a clip with WDR and what is it you want to find online?

I wonder why there are zero review of the image qualities of the hdcvi, ahv, hdtvi compared to ip cam in the net.

What key did you press to bring up the cam setup menu in the hdcvi dvr? In the ip cam, you need to get inside each cam to adjust the wdr.. the nvr menu and even smart pss can't make you adjust them the same you did..

1.3Mp to 2MP Hdcvi cam have built in OSD controllable via DVR PTZ option, even Smart PSS can bring up the menu & do like what I did on the DVR.

  4. I have ip cams already and want to buy another cctv for another location. I want to try the Hdcvi or Hd-sdi since I want zero latency for live view. But I heard the Hdcvi is just low bitrate version of the HD-SDI.. and a dahua ip cam is better in quality than its Hdvci offering. Can anyone give a image sample of Hdcvi vs Hd-sdi vs ip? Are Hdcvi really that bad? I can't find an HD-SDI brand with manual alarm output.. so I seem to be stuck with either Hdcvi or another ip (but hate the latency).

Here is 2 clips of a 1.3Mp CVI cam recorded @720p Day & Night

  5. Is the DVR broken then, for upgrading from chinese to english?

So i can't repair anymore? Is there any way to recover factory defaults?

    Many ways.

    Everything is in your hands!

But, can you help me please?

He means with $$$ everything can be settled

  6. Another one tricky demo footage. Actually, for most CMOS in house is great to view but I wondering how is outdoor particularly in low lux site

Well, with the Sony Exmor IMX238 for 1.3Mp & IMX222 for 1080p, the quality is quite good in low lux.

  7. hybrids and tribrids are backwards compatable on the analog side .

meaning they work with 960h , D1 etc.

the only thing backwards compatable about hd-cvi is that if you have an hd-cvi 1080p dvr ,

    it will work with hd-cvi 720p camera's .

    but if you have a 720p hd-cvi dvr , you can only use 720p hd-cvi camera's .

New HDCVI DVR now support 720p full frame & 1080p half of the frame rate

as far as I know , dahua is the inventor and sole mfg. of hd-cvi hardware .

although you can find hd-cvi equipment with different brand names on them ,

they are all made by dahua .

Dahua CVI chip is outsource & can be purchase from main distributor, there are other DVR manufacturers but one of them has already close down.

and as far as I know , hikvision is the inventor and sole mfg. of hd-tvi hardware ,

which is also available with different brand names but are only mfg. by hikvision .

Wrong, here is the manufacturer http://www.techpointinc.net/

as far as recorded picture quality goes , I do not know if sdi has any advantage over

cvi or tvi . that is what I was searching for when I found this post.

SDI @1080p is digital, therefore it is still the best if you can afford it.

  8. Hi all, im going to upgrade my exsisting coax setup which has 4 cams. I already have three i.p cams + a ptz ip i have bought. I was going to use my pc but have decided to use a nvr box instead so its always on. Im thinkning i could either use a spare pc or buy a nvr to work. Im pretty sure the cameras are all onvif i have and they range from 3mp to 5mp. Ideally id like somethign i can use upto 8 cameras on and record about a months worth of data. Im happy to fit my own hdd to something. any recommendations? budget upto £300ish with no hdd's £450 with hdd. Ideas?

    thanks guys

I dont really know anything about budget standalone NVR's, but make sure the cameras are really ONVIF conformant if you're going for NVR that supports ONVIF but has no other support for the camera/model you have. You can search the camera model from http://www.onvif.org/FindaProduct/ProfileProducts.aspx

Even if the camera is 100% Onvif compliant, does not means the NVR will be able to connect it with full features. If you know the make of your IPC then easier for us to be able to recommend a suitable NVR for you.

  9. None of this even matters. The fact is that HDTVI was never even presented as an option, but for some reason every thread demands at least one Hikvision super fan. All of this is just confusing the hell out of the person who originally asked the question.

Hikvision and HDTVI is super cool. It works just as well, and in a lot of cases, better than other brands. You win.

    SymphonyX8,

HDCVI is not backwards compatible so don't make the mistake of thinking it is. If you want to run your existing camera in addition to new HDCVI cameras, you need a Tribrid DVR (SD Analog, HDCVI, IP). It's probably going to be more cost effective to replace cameras than it will be to keep them considering the price of DVR and size of the system.

FYI, TVI does not belongs to HIK, there is already other TVI manufacturers out there producing TVI DVR. If you need to argue constructively make sure you get your facts right.

  10. Yes, and that technology is known as Tribrid or Hybrid DVRs, and they're available for every signal type. They are DVRs specifically intended to bypass the complete lack of backwards compatibility in this industry.

There's no such thing as backwards compatibility. I haven't contradicted that. There's only workarounds to backwards compatibility and those workarounds exist for all signal types, not just HDTVI.

My hand remains far from my own face.

Wrong, TVI & AHD does not need special recorder to use existing analog camera. It's just plug & play. So that is "Backwards compatibility"

  11. HDCVI is not backwards compatible and your standard definition analog cameras will not work on an HDCVI DVR unless you purchase a Tribrid DVR.

Is this slapping your own face? " title="Applause" /> Coz all this while TS is asking about backwards compatibility with analog using HDCVI DVR. If Hybrid, Tribid or whatever bid sure can have multiple formats. That's why I ask TS to use TVI!

HDCVI, HDTVI, and AHD all have the required equipment readily available on the market to run both SD analog and HD analog simultaneously. The technology is not solely limited to HDTVI.

  12. Please allow me to make things clear.

    1. Conventional DVR can not go with HD-SDI or HD CVI, whatever HDs.

You need to buy a Hybrid type DVR that can still support analog cameras.

    2. HD_CVI may ask you to replace the cables which could be cheap/unbranded whatever, if not solid copper cable.

1 is correct, 2 is wrong! HDCVI have very low demand for coaxial quality. So far I have never experience any existing coaxial that does not work & I have tested more than 100's existing cable at various site.

And for TS, best is to use TVI as it will accept his existing analog cam & also have slightly better quality than CVR.

  13. New night time footage of 20X SDI IR Speed Dome, any idea if the flickering is due to my country electric is on 50Hz cycle while the zoom module is set as 60Hz?

    Day time comparison here

Note: Somehow this SDI DVR AVI is not accepted by Youtube

Who nice pictures and very sharp

My equipment is poor quality compared to your

can you tell me please the model of your dvr and the camera please

    I really appreciate it

The DVR is Streamax & the Speed dome is actually a no brand unit I got my supplier to fix up for me.

  14. I am looking for a low-lux camera to protect a car parked outside my home. Because it is a listed building, I cannot mount the camera externally, so it will need to be an indoor camera, looking out through glass. Ideally, the camera will have wireless Wi-Fi facilities to connect to my home NAS unit. Less desirable, it could connect to a laptop, via USB, for example. Can anyone recommend anything please? I have a limited budget. Thank in anticipation.

Is the place you park your car well lit at night? IR will reflect off the windows so you cannot use IR camera.

  15. Hello. We have been looking at some IP cameras online. These ones... http://domarsolutions.co.uk/babybullet-zxtech-2-megapixel-ip66-broad-lens-bullet-cctv-camera.html

However we are open to any suggestions on which cameras to buy. They will be going outside and we want them to be capable of night vision. We are looking at those ones as the specs seem good and the price is where we want to be. We will listen to any recommendations though.

The NVR seems the more difficult piece to decide on.

If I make a list of what we want, then maybe someone can make a recommendation?

    - An external motion detection / video loss alarm / buzzer

    - Support 4+ IP 1080P cameras

    - Have a decent and easy user interface

    - Support monitoring / playback from a Windows client

    - Support monitoring / playback from an iPad etc

We dont want to be spending loads on one, like £100 - £200

    Thanks for any input,

    Chris.

Stay away from this camera if you are not going to use the same NVR from them. They OEM from here http://www.acesee.com/

At this price it is better off for you to use HIK or Dahua

  17. I can't find anything with this information, closest GUESS i have is iCatch, they have similar firmware/software version. Do you have any stickers on the device? Anything with any text/numbers?

went to icatch website, the supporting is poor, softwares are old and has no firmware for upgrading

It is not icatch, brand is safevision & good luck to you!
