  1. Do all of the Dahuas genrally have the same OS on them are there some to stay away from?

These smaller ones look great for tucking away discretely

Yes, all genuine dahua have the same GUI & can use GDMSS & PSS for PC CMS. The 2 Hybrid DVR from your first post is not dahua. They are Xmeye which is a clone. Also if you read properly the 8ch can only support 8nos IPC on 960h.

  2. I have chinese 1.3MP low lux camera (ordered from surip - suripcam . com - never buy camera from him-LEO-now I have problem and now no support and warranty, also, I must say that this is IPSCAM camera or only software and also no support from them), all was very good for one year, very good night performance but before few days simple this camera stop to work and after that when I power reset for this camera, camera working fine maybe 20 seconds, I can ping this camera but after that simple stop to work, ping is not possible!

What can be problem? This is camera with hi3518...

I try to change power supply but again same problem, also cables...

Also, look like if not working some time (few days) than it reset setting to defaults (1MP) and than it can work a lot longer but I don`t know how long but if I change something in settings problem again start...

I can`t find TELNET password for this camera and LEO from SURIPCAM don`t want to sent it and I can`t check logs (if some exist), username/pass for GUI don`t working, also root/nothing, root/root, admin/admin, admin/nothing... don`t working...

If somebody know what can be problem please tell me...

For me look like some HW problem like bad capacitor but all of them are SMD or overheating but again for me all look normal or maybe some problem with firmware, maybe after over one year usage for some reason FW used all memory (maybe don`t delete logs) and now I have problems but I don`t have TELNET access to check it...

Also, I must note that this is second camera with same problem and with similar hardware and same software, here you can see how look GUI (image from net):

    251075_1.jpg

Are you using POE for their IPC? If yes, try giving DC direct to see if it helps.

  3. Thanks for the suggestions.

I did try substitutes for all the ports but it made no difference, so I've put them back to the defaults.

I've used an online port scanner to check that the ports are open.

You can set up teamviewer & pm me the ID & Pass and set a time when we are both online so that I can have a look at it for you. It's rather strange that you can remote view playback but not live!

  4. Scooby,

    This is John from IPVM.

On the 4K test, we found that the only visible improvements vs a 1080p monitor was for single display of 5MP (or higher res) cameras. Even for those cameras, it was modest, at best.

For 2 x 2 layouts (or greater), no meaningful visible differences at all.

    Hope that helps.

But if you zoom in to the details on a 5MP IPC it would looks much better right?

  5. This http://www.costco.ca/Q-See%c2%ae-8-channel-High-Definition-Digital-NVR-with-2-TB-HDD-%2526-4-HD-1080p-IP-Cameras.product.100120827.html is the product I am looking at. I am thinking of going with 2 of these systems because i would get more storage and save money. I did my research before but I have forgotten how this works LoL so it says 240 fps recording total, now does that include playback and live view? I would like to get 30 fps across all 4 cameras for recording/playback and live view for 2 weeks at a time...

This seems like a great system but it does not give very much information unlike the other models who state...

    "Live display resolution: 1920 x 1080 (30fps per camera)

    Playback resolution: 1080p (1920 x 1080 120fps total/15fps per camera)

    Recording frame rate: 1080p (1920 x 1080 120fps total/15fps per camera)"

If the SDI 8 channel 4 camera package says 120 fps total would that mean 15fps if you had 8 cameras hooked up or 15fps with only the 4 camera's it comes with? You would think they would make this a bit more clear for people who have never had one before.

    Thanx for any help!

99% of the NVR can display 240fps in total if it says it can record @240fps. As for the SDI DVR, since you are only using 4channels, it might be possible for you to allocate the full 30fps per camera in the SDI DVR settings.

  6. Dear Msecure,

Is HD-CVI for 720P (1.3 MP) that can run 50 meter on a good copper cable?

    Can you please confirm?

It is 500 not 50 meter. But furthest I have tested is about 350 meter on Belden RG6 CCS.

  7. What exactly are you showing? What would be something to see is a snapshot export from actual footage to see what it's looking like.

I tested a CVI camera with a 50 meter roll standard cable with a CVI DVR and it works perfectly. No degradation of the resolution at all.

  8. Is plug and play cable okay to use for cvi? I understand good rg59 coax is preferred but cvi is always touted as the easy replacement for your analog system. Many people, including me, used plug and play cables years ago. Most of my runs are 60-75' tops. Usable?

Here is the answer, no problem with a 50 meter run " title="Applause" />

  9. Hi,

    I have TVT 2316ME 110722004 dvr

    Firmware version - 3.1.83.P

But suddenly it stopped booting fully.

It is showing Only H.264 splash screen.

I have removed the HDD and replaced the power supply but still no solution.

I tried reinstalling the firmware using a formatted usb drive but no luck.

Please let me know if there is any solution.

    Thank you

Did you notice the RJ45/Lan port blinking when you switch it on? If it is functioning, most DVR can be rescue using TFTP via a PC.

So far my experience is if the analog has signal the cvi will have no problem but none of those are DIY. Guess you will need to buy from those shops that allows return. For testing purpose I will test it out later today. I am in cctv haven now! Everything can be found here! Shenzhen!

  11. HD-CVI can not be used for a long distance over 50 Meter, if not for pure copper cable. But they keep claiming "upto 500 meter", in spite of the fact losing some colors. Some seem to cheat on others. We better wait for the technology getting matured, in my opinion.

I have no need for longer runs, it's for my home. To me, the distance issue is irrelevant.

So far none of the retrofit demo I have tested fail using the CVI. Even those without signal on SDI is perfect using CVI. Btw, 500m SDI camera will be ready soon.

  12. Very informative thread.

"Q-See actually has HDCVI system and it is sold at costco.com and they called it HD Analog system. The 8 cameras system 720P sold for 499.00 (Item #865574). The quality is pretty good and they have a video sample at costco.com too.

Here is the video sample link of the Q-See HD analog system

    http://media.webcollage.net/rwvfp/wc/cp ... .flash.flv"

Well I purchased this system and I am pleased so far with the picture quality during the day of the cameras, however the night picture quality of the dome cameras are not as good as the bullet cams.

The model number of the dome camera is: QCA7202D

It is very noisy and I cant get the contrast right at night time. All the cameras have a fixed focal length of 3.6mm, 70-75 view angle so thats kinda of a bummer, would have rather had a mix of wide and tele. Im not sure if I am going to keep the system, still installing cameras at the moment. I found this thread searching for other "HD Analog" cameras and now I realize its a proprietary standard from this Daihau company, HDCVI. Perhaps I can find some other non Q-see cameras that provide a wider field of view, as thats what I really need/want for my porch.

    Any one have any suggestions?

Get a varifocal IR dome with led array, the tiny LEDs on dahua little dome sucks!

  13. About HDCVI

Must take care it and know it is a owner of DAIHUA

The distance can mach is around 30% more of HD-SDI but quality is more less of SDI

Need to take care also another problem SDI can mach big distance is the camera will connected with a good DVR if the DVR use a good reciver as SEMTECH with a good cable can make more of 260meter but if use with a DVR using a reciver from China MAGNISION to be sure also with a good cable can not go on 130-150 meter

Different is for HDCVI because only one chip as trasmiter and one for reciver and those are only from DAIHUA so the performance always are the best one

But for my opinio ude HDCVI is a big BIG risch because only DAIHUA have the control of the IC and the system , your bussiness will be connected only with daihua can't find other factory can make HDCVI ( or better can find but all have to buy the material from daihua )

HD-SDI is a open system you can change suplier and product also it is going to improve with HD-MSDI it can mach doblle distance of now and is compatible with HD-SDI

    Frank2

I do not agree with you, what do you mean by big risk? For HDCVI to succeed Dahua will sell their chips to every tom, dick & harry to flood the market which is what is happening right now. With the current HDCVI pricing there is no reason to sell 960h analog. HDCVI is low end. If you want to compare then HIK TVI & NExtchip AHP would be a better comparison. SDI is a different ball game all together. Here is a screen shot of the HDCVI with 4 cams.

  14. Hi, thanks for the answer.

My idea is to change my actual DVR, anda the cameras also.

I intendo to replace my "all D1 low res system" for a new hi res one. But I wouldn't like to spend so much money right now.

The chinese seller answered that this DVR records in 720p/1080p for the IP cameras and in 960H for the analog ones.

I'd like to replace the cameras one or two per month, no to spend all the money once.

I'm thinking now what I do ... my options

    - to buy a pure NVR ... it's cheaper, but I'd need to "recable" my entire house and I'd need to keep two systems working (the old DVR with analog cameras and the new NVR with digital cameras) until I had all of them replaced ... I really have space trouble to ad new Cat5 cables here

    - to buy that on hybrid DVR ... I could keep the analog cameras and replace them monthly ... keeping the problem with the new cables

    - to buy a HD-SDI DVR .... this equipment is more expensive, but I could use all my actual infraestructure ......

If you only need 720p can consider using HDCVI. The price is only slightly higher than analog. And you can use back your RG cabling like SDI.

  15. Hi there,

first of all: sorry for my bad english.

i was able to install my first hdcvi-kit. 4 different hdcvi cameras and the 8ch hdcvi-dvr.

    qualitly compared to price: amazing

quality compared to ip or hd-sdi: nahh... hope they can improve it!

the idea is great (even if hikvision has something very similar), but i can see "ghosts" in my current hdcvi setup (which should occur).

if someone is more familiar with the german language he also can check out my site hdcvi.de, it try to translate everything and put it online there..

Welcome to the forum, your English is ok! Maybe you can share some clips or video if it does not intrude into your privacy!

  16. Hey Forum,

There are now a couple of free, cloud storage solutions: SkyDrive, Google Drive, DropBox and I am sure there are more. For the DYI'er it would seem like a good way to do a simple cloud based solution, but are there any systems (cameras or NVRs) out there that allows the camera to upload to any of these services?

There is a chinese manufacturer that is very similar to Dahua which are already making DVR with Cloud recording, however their NVR with this function is not ready now. Hopefully after the Chinese New Year holidays can get my hands on a demo NVR with Cloud recording.

  17. What don't you like about the image?

How does it compare to HD-SDI?

    What camera did you use?

Too much noise even at day time & when view on 40" it is not acceptable at least to me! BTW, have shown to ordinary user and they say is very nice. Cannot compare with 1080p SDI, since this HDCVI I have is only 720p.

    Tested with HDCVI IR dome.

Seems good quality for a camera over RG59 cable. What length do you have ?

Have tested on a roll of 305m Belden RG6(Belden Part No.: 9116S 0101000/ 9116S 010U1000), perfect signal while the SDI has no signal as expected!

  18. Here is the latest recording I did with the HDCVI from Dahua, am not really impress with the quality, anyone else tested this and can share your opinion?
