  1. Been reading the IP camera section of this forum lately and I'm finally ready to take the plunge. I've been looking to move into an all Acti cam solution and utilize their VMS software on a PC to do the recording. The trouble I'm having is that the existing DVR system in place utilizes AVE VSI pros on the Gilbarco Passport register to overlay text from the register on to one of the cameras. The site owner requires the text inserter and won't give it up no matter how much of an increase in quality the actual cameras produce. Are there any text inserter solutions designed for IP/NVR use yet? Would the best solution be to use the TCD-2100 encoder to convert the analog stream to IP?

    GeoVision DSP OverLay

wow I have this problem too! When cameras are full screened (as they have been setup for startup defaults) the video shows up a solid bright purple color. When pressing escape to exit out the fullscreen however, all the cameras return as normal.
  3. *subscribed* interested in this topic also as I'm looking to do a similar upgrade, but I think there is a hardware limitation on the upgade.

    tv out on geovision

I had a quick question. Setting up a cctv system (well actually upgrading one that I implemented a while ago). Setting is a c-store/gas-station/carwash. There is a camera located at the carwash as cars enter in, the owner would like to allow the employees that are inside the gas station at the register to be able to watch this camera in order to troubleshoot any problems/difficulties that the driver of the car may have while attempting to wash they're car. The DVR system has a Geovision capture card, and although I've installed quite a few of these, I've never used the TV out function on them before. I understand that there are 2 ways to allow the video to be recorded from the camera and displayed simultaneously outside: 1. Splitting the BNC cable with a splitter with one cable going to the DVR and another straight to this monitor outside. or 2. Have the BNC cable go to the Geovision DVR, which can record the image, and then have a TV line out from the Geovision card to the monitor outside. I believe 2 would have less image degradation & is the way to go. Now my question is, is the TV out from the Geovision a rotating TV out (as in it shuffles through all the channels/cameras?) or it can it be set to displaying just 1 channel on the TV out/monitor? Sorry for the long read, just thought I would give all possible backround information edit: Forgot to mention, option 2 seems a lot cheaper to since monitors with BNC input seem ridiculously expensive... why is that?! Yet monitors with VGA/RCA/etc inputs are much more cheaper.

Quick question about cameras in rain

awesome! thanks for the replies guys! It's nice to see a forum with an active community.
  6. Are housings needed for all cameras in outdoor rain conditions or should cameras that are designated weatherproof be fine on there own? The camera that I'm specifically inquiring about is the CNB WBL-20S. They website from the manufacturer says it's IP66 (http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=1194) , but I can't find further info on it. The camera is going outside a gas station in the Pacific NW, weathers gets below freezing during winter and we get occasional snow. Generally windy/rainy conditions. Thank you
  7. Hi! I have a GV800 system that I installed a few years ago and it uses v6 software. I used TCP MultiCam Remote View to watch live feeds from the main system using this. Recently I have installed a few new systems using the GV800 and GV11XX series cards and they all came with V8 software. The V8 software comes with MultiView instead of the MultiCam remote view, but the function of the programs seems the same. My question is, is there a way I can use the MultiView from the new V8 software to view feeds from the my old GV800 DVR system that has V6 software? Is there any software in the new V8 software suite that is backwards compatible with viewing live feeds from the GV800 DVR running V6 software? Much appreciated
