Hi. Graham. it all depends if your system is wireless or wifi. since you are having a distance problem from cam to recorder then I think you have a wireless system ... I which case no you can't add cameras to your router it is a proprietary frequency system. does your system look like this .

Hi. It is around the $28 a pair now

IP cameras and POS system
tomcctv replied to minni1986's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. Wells Fargo platform you out should not need any equipment.... You should be able to have all data sent via registers switch. dont try to open any ports yourself on that software.....as you know there tech support is expensive if you get it wrong. call them and ask for the cash terminals IP and ports. as long as your NVR is on the same network .... You then only need to follow your NVRs manual. -
IP cameras and POS system
tomcctv replied to minni1986's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Sorry I read that as no back office ...... Just standalone cash registers. which software are you using .... Something like Orical or Torex yes this makes it easier as all cash registers will be on a switch to back office so you only need to find each terminal IP and port ...... If your thermal keep NVR on epson print -
Expand and upgrade avigilon or move to Hik NVR?
tomcctv replied to chesterfield's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. Chesterfield. i remember you installing your system ..........I think it will be a mistake going over to a hikvision NVR hikvision cameras are good ........but there NVRs and the software is old ......there security side of recorders is a joke to the point it is not secure anymore. check your PM for a alternative........ It makes hikvision look like a toy. Pit will also Handel your avigilon cameras no problem. -
Hi. I was waiting for the punch line .......then realised you was not telling a joke. what you have to tell to Dvr is it has to turn into a NVR you can't do what you are asking ..... IP is digital dvr is analog. you can't put balun on LAN setup

IP cameras and POS system
tomcctv replied to minni1986's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. Thank you for diagrams...... I've got a headache now ? How many terminals do you have (registers) and what is the distance between cash registers and NVR two options I see ..... First is rs232 (db9) to USB .....for com port second is network from switch before terminals .... But I think that will give you more recipe detail than what you need and we have had problems with handshake in the past that way. USB to serial is the stable option ..... Mirror recipe printer data on serial. usb serial there are cheap and expensive ..... Use the program ones ...... Any power loss com port stays the same .... You don't want it to move every time system is down. i have always used moxa equipment. i can send you a moxa for free if you want to try this way -
Cabling has advanced a lot over the last few months. IP over cat cable is limited to distance (which changes soon) but there are IP baluns now for replacing cat cable and using standard RG59 which gives IP Poe a distance of 1.600 feet. we were given samples back in November and was told distance is twice that. we ran 500m (1.600 feet) with a 4mp camera and worked with no problems. direct from NVR Poe output. No need for switches or boosters. So a very cost effective way to run IP systems over 4 times cat5 distance also upgrading old coax systems it Makes it easy and only balun costs on existing coax

IP cameras and POS system
tomcctv replied to minni1986's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. First can you supply make of nvr ..... some say pos ready but are not some cheap pos recorders only replace camera description text .... so only give you room for item and price ..... not full shop recipe if if you don’t have back office then it’s going to be from each register. what local network do you have between the registers -

Hi. admin 439672 before you enter the code switch your recorder off for 20mins once you are into menu ......make a new admin password before you log out.
-
Ok. Then you just need to use search backup . first pick cameras then pick start time then pick end time then save ......it then burns what you saved
-
That is because it stores files in 30min blocks. A lot of budget systems do this 20 or 30min files what country are you in ?

Smart search, pop-up, and text write over in one system?
tomcctv replied to McJoo's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. It does not have face recognition it is face detection. which means you will have to do your own data base of everyone that comes into your store. So pointless. unit you have picked is 4K but only at 1-7 fps .... Which again is pointless for a store. You could miss things. what is your budget. And are you looking for full system or just the recorder. what cameras do you have now ? what is your budget -
Hi. You might need the port number..... Go into settings on dvr then network then click on advanced. You will see media port and http port at the bottom. on your PC enter into browser http://192.168.1.xx:85 i used default port in above IP address ....... You enter the one in your dvr network settings.
-
Ok. And here is a copy of the manual for you. https://indd.adobe.com/view/fb0ba351-1e0d-4b87-86f8-22d29455776d

The easy way is to connect your dvr to router. Then go into dvr menu then network..... you should see IP address .... something like 192.168.0.xx come out of dvr menu..... then on pc or laptop enter that ip into your browser and just follow on screen messages

Hi. Are you replacing the whole system ..... The Swann and the electriciq Poe are different formats. saving video from your Swann is simple either with a PC or pad. as far as using the Swann hard drive ...... The first thing the new recorder will do is format the drive. Plus you can't play another recorder data from another recorder.

60W Per Port Switch
tomcctv replied to MHastings's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. PowerDsine or microsemi (same company) but on a ptz system of that size .... I would say break it down to a 2 or a 4 going 10 and any issues and you loose all 10 cameras -
Smart search, pop-up, and text write over in one system?
tomcctv replied to McJoo's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. Yes all 3 are possible. Dahua pro range. Lorex and qsee are dahua products but not pro you will have the same search features of lorex and also ful POS display and search (also works with back office. with lorex being dahua they should be able to get you the pro. Follow cameras in a store sounds good but you will miss more.......camera can only follow 1 person at a time.... 2 or 3 people in same area you will loose footage of 2 most system do motion large screen and back to normal -
