Harrogate/Knaresborough CCTV Installer Please
tomcctv replied to reggie.trevvett's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi. Reg. vistas remote lost support back in February for the old analog Richard one of there tech guys works for us. Did vista also do your monitoring? What is your budget to replace The visa system back in 2011 would of been expensive kit. It’s much cheaper these days I would try and stay with a uk manufacturer so as to keep better support. I would also look at a cvi 5mp system which will run on existing cable and will give you more useful options with today’s tech. Number plate recognition/ Face detect is standard on a lot of system now. -

Hi. No doing a firmware will kill the camera. Wanscam is just a cheap camera and foscam is not far behind Wanscam you usually see for around £30 to £50 but your only getting 1.3mp or 2mp. You can buy a brand name 5mp for that price now and have support

3c-2v or RG-59 cable for AHD cameras
tomcctv replied to benjaminc's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
3C/2v. Is basic TV coax not normally used for CCTV you will have problem with length with loss So like stated use rg59 -
Hi. Les. The dots on image Could also mean 12v into a 24v camera. Also bad BNC but this usually also shows camera white out every now and again. If your looking for a temp fix till you run new cable I would do this.... Disconnect power to enclosure (your 24v) and then I would use that cable for the 12v for your camera........ Your shotgun cable I would use the power as your video ....using baluns and don't use the coax. Then see what your image is like

Hi. I second go for hire .... Much cheaper . With having uk address and US address I know the pitfalls of short term buying Buying you will need temp number plates and going that distance it's not worth the problems. You have a year to plan your trip ..... A lot of people do the Route 66 and do one way ..... Remember a hire car from east to west or west to east means the car finishes out of state and needs to go back. When booking your car check with the hire company were your going to Finish your drive to see if they have a car of there's at the start......then you are returning a car someone else used. Also booking your flight ....go to a website called star alliance and register. If your airline is a member you will get a massive discount on car hire and hotel costs. I did it for a few years before I bought a pickup. I have not done 66 but have done full east cost and mid west. Toss.....You might end up not wanting to go home

Hi. Ped it's a customers address so I will have to arrange a viewing but yes your just down the road. Have you called into MAS on dock road Wallasey yet and looked at there demo setup .... Ask for Dave The viper starts at two cam kits 5mp NVR and two cameras is around £280 So your best to keep your budget down and look for a camera which has SD card recording
-
Hi. Ped. Most good brand recorders has it as standard Qvis viper is a unit we have been using for a while now. Which has it. With other unit you can also set up motion detect smart record this will highlight a person at a door and give a time stamp. I have over 30 installs around Liverpool (used to be based in bootle now in chester) the closest viper unit to you for you to go and play with is in moreton Wirral by the lighthouse. How many cameras are you looking for ?

Help a newbie try to salvage existing system
tomcctv replied to Rgeezer's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
So why did the previous owner have these two Ubiquiti carrier POE adapters hooked up (and they were plugged in to power outlets when we moved in)? What else would they be used for other than powering security cameras? Again, I see no coax/balun cable ends anywhere, only cat5. You won’t see any coax .... baluns run on cat5 Your camera link is for analog. Until you provide pictures of where all cables end in your home then it’s all guess work. For all you know last owner had ip cameras but removed them and replaced with analog. But it looks as tho you have analog with baluns -
KARE H 264 4 camera system Keeps switching OFF
tomcctv replied to Legskimbo's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi. Heat this time of year can cause your system to shut down if not ventilated. Also bad hard drive will do the same. To test hard drive........ remove it from your recorder and run your system without and see if still switches off -
