  1. Hi. Two types of analog..... Standard analog D1 960h which is old and no longer used. And analog HD 720 or 1080 . In formats CVI or TVI or AHD r SDI Most being 2mp some now upto 4mp And then you have IP systems 1.3mp right up to 29mp or above. Both system types are good ......and IP is much easier to install for the DIYer .......1 cat5 to each camera ...also does the power Analog HD is coax and power cable Price wise there is not much differance......analog HD also needs camera power supplies so is not as clean and tidy as you have with IP. Some of the long timers on here will also tell you years ago a system would last you 5 to 10 years. But now that is not the case .....cvi tvi ahd keeps changing so your system can be out of date in 1 to 2 years ......take hikvision and there tvi system ......first you had tvi now we have tvi3 but each system is not compatable so to upgrade its a new complete system. IP has still got the edge on analog HD as to upgrade is only software updates on both the NVR and cameras. IP also gives you a fall back.......if your NVR goes bad you can still access cameras and record via PC (when local network is created) I would look at installing yourself and saves money. Look at the lorex IP systems. We have there IP system running for over 4 years with no problems.
  2. Hi. You should not port forward port 80. Give your recorder a new port use something like 5550
  3. Hi. Eithernet over power make installing IP into lifts a lot easier
  4. Arent those little guys i posted the same thing? They look it. Negative and positive terminal to a bnc connection on other side. Also what color strands do i insert into the balun? No what you have posted are not baluns...... Sold on the net as baluns ....but 100% are not. I would use 1 pair for video Blue ..... To + Blue/white to - Then split rest for power
  5. Hi yes you would need this type of balun https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01GJISLDY/ref=mp_s_a_1_37?ie=UTF8&qid=1506438731&sr=8-37&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=baluns The BNC connector in your picture is not a balun
  6. Hi. What type of environment is the system used in. What make are your cameras and recorder.
  7. Hi. Yes you have to buy for the camera ..... It also does the power so you need the right connections on the rj45. But at $19 each ...... It is best to just buy cameras and use the existing cables There is no point spending $19 on each camera that is only 380 TVL plus the problem you might have with the cameras being 100ohm....... CCTV is 75ohm For an extra $2 https://www.amazon.com/Amcrest-AMC960HDC36-W-Weatherproof-coaxial-included/dp/B00YZF8D28/ref=sr_1_6?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1506375551&sr=1-6&keywords=CCTV+960h+cameras+amcrest

  9. Hi. You will need the kit to alter ....... But at $19 each I would buy one and take it apart to find the pinout then make your own
  10. Hi. Old analog Samsung ..... No IP cameras involved. How many cameras have the rg45 plugs ?? It can be done ....but the problem with the old Samsung cameras is there 100ohms It might be better to change the cameras with the rj45 and still use the existing cable

    CCTV Sytem recommendation

Sorry I should have mentioned I'm from the UK. Thanks for the response though I would start by giving Henry at CCTV42.co.uk a call. Good guy and will give you lots of advice. Don't think so
  12. Hi. You are best posting pictures of what you have. It sounds like some of your cameras are on baluns.... But need to see pictures
  13. I take it your only here to advertise. Read my first post to you ... yes direct replacement. Laview don’t make ... they just rebadge. So your old system might not be the same as there new one... so you might have to re learn. Don’t let something as little stress you out
  14. Lasts 18 months and your happy to buy that brand again ...... As far as learning..... how do you know ? Since you will be away ... remote apps are easy to learn.
  15. Hi. 720 is the low end ..... look at 1080 You can just replace your dvr with this and still use your existing cameras and replace later https://www.lorextechnology.com/security-dvr-and-surveillance-dvr/lhv2000-series-high-definition-digital-video-recorder/LHV21081TW-1-p Or this as a complete system. https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-dvr-security-system/4mp-hd-camera-home-security-system/MPX2K88-1-p
  16. Hi it started last week...... hik have posted a ivms update as of yesterday. But I would look at a 3rd party remote app for your customers and use new passwords and ports .... also remove 80 port forwarding New hik app I guess will only have a few days before that has problems as well. Not good for your customers and I would change which recorder you use

    Rate this surveillance system?

Hi. State of the art system as they state on there website. 720tvl was in 2011 No ONE installs analog anymore. Did you even ask who makes it Ask for a link to there dvr app see how that is. Up to now I give them a 1
  21. Go look back in forum about 10 years...... Been to China many times.........I buy direct from a name brand. Cameras has got smaller and neater........which is something customers look for Your swan camera has gone backwards ...... Not something I would or could sell to install in a house ..... It's ugly CCTV is CCTV If people want gas detection .......then my advice is to use something that is fit for its job. Gas. carbon monoxide Alarms I would surgest using a brand name device which ARE proven life saving devices.
  22. Well that did not take long to admit your a spammer You might be swan ..... but to use a package design and logo from a real company like Swann...... just shows what kind of company people are best not dealing with. So basically it's like adding extra to your system........the same as using a standard system then adding alarm sensors for gas / motion / alarm A holiday ...... China or myrtle beach... myrtle beach wins

    Basic Domestic CCTV - How?

Hi. To value safety then recording is important...... If you can't look back after a problem it's pointless. Colour dome with IR and a dvr is not going to break the bank. As far as getting picture to her tv .....you would use the existing cable so place the dvr by the tv. The black / white box you talk about ... Will not work with new smart TVs. But most smart TVs now have p in p ....picture in picture so you only need to connect dvr to a HDMI input.
  24. Hi go to local recordings ...... then press select in top right of app .... then click on which files you want to remove .... then click the bin at bottom right on app
  25. Hi what are you connecting it too. Rs 485 out is all you need if direct to camera
