tomcctv replied to Aroundincircles's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi. Yes you are right on impedance. Coax is made in 50 or 75ohm 75 is standard for CCTV Cat cable and alarm cable or just normal cable is all 100ohm. That is why we have baluns .......the baluns job is to change the cable from 100 to 75ohm .... Or conversation of unbalanced to balanced -

Installation questions mostly stemming from voltage concerns
tomcctv replied to Aroundincircles's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Wow. Why come on to a CCTV forum and then shut down the advice. You only need cat5 cable ..... Works for every installer with any camera. Your cameras are tvi ...... If you don't wish to install with that technology then use a pair of cat5 for audio. But save yourself a phone call to tech and look at the back of your dvr .........only 4 audio inputs. ....... You have 10 audio cameras You only need a reel of standard cat5 Baluns HD type And that is all you need -

It is correct ........ The reason why your camera also has audio out is if it is connected to a dvr that does not support audio over coax But your system does ...... It's up to you if you want to waste money running cable for audio ... When it's standard. It is split at the dvr as data.....digital.......video is 1 signal audio is another and also with your dvr you also send digital signal Back to camera for OSD settings....... All down one coax. You can also Run all your cameras down 2 coax.......that's digital Saves cost and saves running cables ........ From memory on your dvr you only have 4 audio if you used the RCA on back of unit .........so you have already wasted money on buying 10 cams with audio. -

Hi ... your listed cameras send video and audio together down the same cable... coax or cat5. But you need to check that the night owl LITE dvr supports it -

Hi. No need for extra cable as audio is with video data. Which recorder will you be using ? I would use cat5 cable with HD baluns. -
Hi. With coax then look at the 1080p cvi system. https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-dvr-security-system/hd-1080p-4-camera-home-security-system/MPX84W-1-p You can still use your existing cameras with this unit ... so you can update the other 4 canes later

Hi. Lorex is a good option .... lorex years ago were just a basic own system which was not that good ... but since the flir takeover and flir having a full dahua build licence it's been good. Which system format are you looking at ... coax or cat5

How are you powering the cameras ?? Have you had them working -
Hi. Your cam has a fixed 130 deg lens so no point buying adjustable IR. I don't think you can switch off the IR on the arlo The arlo is the wrong camera to do anything with. 15ft wall distance ....... 6ft high wall ..... 10ft high 130deg cameras

Hi no need to format every few months ....... when it's running right you will have no problems. I have used qvis for over 15 years with no problems. Can you go into your system and then go to accounts page and see how many accounts are listed I think your installer made your account but not with full admin rights. And he changed it on last visit. Also do you have a static IP address or using a ddns account for remote view Ticking the box next to time should of fixed your problem...... but if no full admin rights the changes would not have been done. Also your account might only of been for last 24hrs ...... and now you can go back to footage you could not access before....... surgests your installer changed your account We're are you based

Hi. You have mist out the important bit ....... what camera are you using and format
-
Hi. Your camera is only a standard 700 tvl analog camera. You don't need to look for Swann Look for hybrid camera ... cvi - tvi - AHD - 960h Can be bought for little money and direct replacement We're are you located

Hi. Not bought one yet but have had a demo for two days .......we only ran 4 cvi cameras on it to test and is impressive...... But I think I found 1 or 2 limitation problems I will say it's the best unit to come out in the past 10 years .... All the technology has been brought together in one unit. And it's not all dahua .... Some big companies are behind its development ..... Avigilons licence to use some of there technology....also flir has had a big input. Software....... Lots of new which is back compatable------ DSS ....IVS ....... And the updated mobile apps. Security ....... They say have worked a lot on ......not had time to check .... But I was told to understand that any attack can be detected and stopped......something about a management key in the form of a dongle. But impressed with what I seen and also looked at videos on the new DSS vms also intergrates with brand name door entry systems and alarm system. Two problems I think will be a problem ........ Cvi cameras are done at camera end just like IP so saves on cpu....... Tvi is done at dvr end so if loaded full with tvi there might be a problem. Some of the IVS functions might also be lost if using IP and cvi together.

Hi ..... your engineer is not a engineer Go to main nenu .... then system ... then ebcoder.. You will see time recording on the left Tick top left top box next to time then enter 00.00 at top and 24.00 at bottom Click advanced and click all Left clock is for night setting so you don't need them so untick the box next to time on right

DVR Firmware Questions for the pros
tomcctv replied to HackerlyCatterly's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. The answer is no. You can't buy crap and make it better with firmware And to go analog HD you would need to change hardware as well. Don't think of buying a 32 way dvr.....you are wasting more money Forget analog ...... You should only be looking at IP -CVI-TVI Analog is out of date and waste of money
