Viewing on internet
tomcctv replied to badman112's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. You might not need to pay for a static. Virgin media ip does not change often over a year .... once or twice. I would setup port forwarding with what you already have. -
Hi. If you have the 4 empty screens up then the modulator is doing its job. As for no screen images I would look at .... first..... have you plugged cameras into the right location on the back of your dvr ? You might have an 8 way and connected to 5-6-7-8 and if your dvr is only told to show 1-2-3-4. Second ...... did you mover camera power supply ..... have you plugged it back in

Problem with Mega Pixel cameras
tomcctv replied to Davidmix's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. First of all you need to understand mega pixel..... it is clear in your statement you don't Yes they always have for there large meg pixel...... how can you compare lorex low meg pixel to avigilon large megapixel?? How are you doing the zoom in lorex .... which is a dahua system There are two ways to zoom .... how are you doing it...... it also has zoom after burning off ... have you used that ? If you as a installer can not get a plate from 25ft with a 4mp. (Without zoom then give up on installing). An old 540tvl analog camera will pick a plate at 25ft. Again this points to the install and client training on handover..... You don't want a lecture........ a plate at 25ft with a 4mp camera in the day time is easy ....... you need to check if in fact your systems are set to 4mp also if system is recording at its highest res -

tomcctv replied to jbard's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi. Hik does not support gray market cameras . When you buy hik cameras they no longer come with password installed. You have to create your own on first setup. -

Hi. Before you buy anything I would look at a turret camera ..... Much better than the old style dome cameras and a lot less problems. Also look for good IR range
-
Hi. The cables that come with the kits are cheap and nasty and will give problems on the power side. Run cat 5 to cameras locations and also run cables to places you might want cameras later. I would look at a CVI 1080p system or if budget allows a IP system

Hi. Now it's in Japanese hands that was the first thing they said they would do. Be interesting to see if they do a software for the old German made cameras -
Problems changing the time settings on the camera
tomcctv replied to MJR's topic in General Access Control Discussion
Hi. You will have basic user rights and changing your password will still only give user rights. If you can pm me your serial number and date and time I will give you a code. But this will only work on hikvision that came with a password out of the box.... new hikvision as from February don't have a factory password the installer has to generate one on first setup -
DVR shows its recording, but can't playback
tomcctv replied to binods21's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. You can't use another dvr ....the watermark will not match As you describe..... HD footage you need was on first dvr ....then you installed a new dvr with the same HD used.....now you have taken the existing HD and trying to recover data in a 3rd Dvr I would stop what you are doing and hand HD to the police. Cheap systems have no place being in a bank security setup. And not dvrs with P2P setup. -

Hi. How many cameras are you looking to install at that location ? You might find if looking at 4 or less at that location cat5 is your best option as you can run upto 4 camera down 1 cable making it easier and tidier
