DVR Software - What sucks...what's pretty good?
tomcctv replied to QC444's topic in General Digital Discussion
I'm just replacing an already existing DVR and want to find one with lots of features. I'm mostly interested in the configuration software for viewing on a PC For example, I prefer software that lets me configure a DAY TIME color configuration (brightness, contrast etc) separately from the NIGHT TIME color configuration. Small things like this make a BIG difference. For example, the software that comes on NightOwl sucks. Hi. Dahua allows you to do that Each camera can be set to day or night ... Auto light adjust -
Hi they will delete one hard drive is full. Just keep setting to overwrite

tomcctv replied to Boogieman's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You will need the make of the recorder. Hav is a proprietary so will need a file extracter -
Local power is also an option..... And no point in going cat cable for cvi

Hi no you need both ends and you also need the power supply that is used for that kit If you are doing this for a client...... How many cameras will need the bi-wave kit because they are not cheap. You would be best using power from camera area

It's the home run IP systems that are the worst to let you down. Boogieman.... Why do you always have to get personal when you argue. -

Hi. Before you go changing all your CRT monitors I would surgest you only change one at the moment .. Flat screen has got better the last few years but cheap monitors will not give you the images of your CRT. We use hannspree monitors and they are glass front and if needed it's touch screen. I would call hannspree and ask to do sale or return (which they do) and try one and see if the quality is good for you.

Identifying Vandals. Reccomendations for CCTV Upgrade
tomcctv replied to odw13's topic in Security Cameras
Hi. You have to look out for a few things when buying hikvision. You don't want a China osd display With you having an existing system with coax I would look at a cvi or tvi system...... With you installing for your elderly parents cvi or tvi might be a better option. I would also look at less than 4mp ..... 2 or 3mp will be enough for your 10m -
