tomcctv replied to mastepa1's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Hi. If you are new to networking then I would say use power line sockets to link your network to your dvr Also you will still need to do some port forwarding ..... So can you list your recorder make and also you router you are using at the moment. http://www.netgear.co.uk/home/products/networking/powerline/XAVB5201.aspx -

Hi if you remove back plate from camera housing you can get to the camera control buttons and also get 12v to the camera ....... That way you have taken both IR units off the. Power ..... Just while you test the camera. Hold center button for 5 seconds and menu will pop up. Press down button till you see factory reset.... Press center button and see if image comes up.

Long Distance Long Range High Resolution Day/Night Camera
tomcctv replied to grandquads's topic in Security Cameras
My mistake .... I best take out CNB Thermal down ..... Search thermal and smoke on the forum from about 3 years ago... And since your having a go READ op does not want his cameras detected And if you think thermal is not good enough then you don't use it Now you list a camera that can look into a forest at night with no light and no IR ....... A camera that can detect through bush can detect in pitch black AND PLEASE DONT SAY HIKVISION Boarder control use thermal just for the same reason ...... IR CAMERAS WILL BE DETECTED WITH A SIMPLE USE OF A MOBILE PHONE CAMERA . -

tomcctv replied to grandquads's topic in Security Cameras
Hi. Cnb thermol camera with 50mm lens will be you. Cheapest option and none detectable -
Hi depends on how old and how it's been used ... Unlike standard cameras a PTZ is like buying a car Honda 20.000 or 350.000 mile There not worth a lot if no warranty from seller

Axis? Or something just as good but cheaper?
tomcctv replied to vandam's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. I do hope the prices you have been given for the axis cameras is the price for two. But the axis you have listed are a good choice for your needs Look around for prices because they are way out -
Hi. Then all you need is a BNC Connector 2 bnc baluns a coupler and a reel of cat5 cable

To much messing about ........ Your remote works away from your location So it works No point looking at local connection ..... But that also works . Your DDNS bounces all over the place Instead of using your DDNS acount when away but using same ISP USE your external IP and see if your still blocked For a dahua you should be using port 37777 for your app . You can change it all later but if you keep to makers direction it should be easier to setup
-
Hi. Will you be recording with your camera ....... Most DVRS have PTZ control which will work with your camera
-
RSTP. Nothing at all to do with your problem. Are you using a apple app to connect to your unit. Like you have already stated you have access from another ISP besides your own ..... So it must be working. You are right about the return path ......... Do you have a personal cloud over your devices
-
Hi. Bob you only need cat5 cable to run your camera power and data for that controller What distance is control to camera
-
Hi. Good cameras ..... Videcon will not help they only tech to registered customers. But it's not there camera Your camera is a CNB RED. ..... 12v (it needs to be 5amp) ORANGE...... Negative BLACK ....... is video ground YELLOW.......is video GREEN .....IS rs485 + BROWN......rs485 - Cables are not cut that's how it is from new ..... Your just missing the BNC PUSH DOWN. Also how are you going to control the camera

what is best for home cctv cat5e or 6 ..or RG59
tomcctv replied to skywalkerdigital's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Must of had a bad 25 years ........ Cat5 or 6 had no problem At all infact for distance cat5 will out run rg59. Also along with what has already been said cat5 or 6 makes for a much easier install than coax and give much better options over the years for a novice installer -

Overwhelmed By Hikvision Choices
tomcctv replied to MarcM's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Chinese COPY OF the hik then yes I would go dahua You only have to type Chinese hik in search bar of this forum to see the problems. 10 to 12 cameras with no warranty .......... This is the part I don't understand why people say it. Your buying cheap to save money ...... But then not protecting your investment. Also have you looked at licence costs ....... ... For empty property I would look at a NVR . Much easier to hide than a pc plus no licence fee -
Overwhelmed By Hikvision Choices
tomcctv replied to MarcM's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. ...... Chinese with english firmware is going to be a problem right from the start. Other is buying from ebay ..... Both give you no warranty. Then you have milestone ..... So pc needed ...... In an empty property I would look at dahua if in the UK Mini NVR and there domes ........ And cheaper than buying from China -
Hi. Your interests push towards cctv . But the information you are asking for is the same as network storage Lots of IT books about.

CCTV in Schools - Milestone or Dahua ?
tomcctv replied to alanjh1965's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Lots of government do ..... But also here in the UK ..... You can't just buy anything and fit .... For schools or public space ... It has to be to a standard Can't even use IR on a public space camera. But it's also down to quality ..... When was the last post on here about a bad axis or avigilon camera -
If your already moving a camera about in that location ..... Keep it real cheap and just buy a pan tilt head from ebay. Can find them from around $30

CCTV in Schools - Milestone or Dahua ?
tomcctv replied to alanjh1965's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The other downside is the licence $12.000 just to run dahua ..... And that's every few years...... That's just a waste of money The more spent on cameras in the UK ... The more money the customer gets back. But like airports .... Schools .... Government buildings ....... Public space ...... You don't go with domestic cameras or software.
