Tom, The home owner doesn't want to trench for obvious reasons. At that distance, it will be a pretty penny. I'd like to come up with a solution which uses the existing CAT5e lines. Do you believe the IP Camera would be a better route? The Baluns we used on the HD-SDI are these: http://muxlab.com/product?product=hd-sdi-balun&pid=876 According to the info I got, they should work with HD-SDI over CAT5e. Is this bad info? Thanks! Hi. IP and HD-SDI both have the same cable length limitations With the distance you need you would need to re boost the signal halfway down cable run .... So would still have to dig. But if you can't dig then a standard cctv camera at gate would have no problem connected to the existing cat 5 and then convert the signal at dvr end to HD SDI

Hi. HD-SDI WITH CAT5 and baluns ..??? And boosters would also be needed for that distance There are converters to go cat5 but they need power and that would also need a trench to gate. If the gate camera is the only cable route problem then use your cat5 to run and power a standard analog camera and convert to HD-SDI at dvr

How can it be hijacked. First read my first post .... I said I was not pulling it apart . But all I did BECAUSE WE HAVE HAD THEM is they do not test IP THEY DO NOT TEST ANALOG which in your EDITED POST REMOVED YOUR DISCRIPTION but again second post in I SAID it's not to start a fight I was pointing out a fact But since you edited your post after getting a reply I take it you looked again at manual and found my reply to your posted description was right or you would not of removed it Let's see what reply you give it was a reply to a standard post Nothing nasty in it AS YOUR MAKING OUT. WE USED IT THATS WHY I ANSWERED POST -
Hi. Could be a few things First camera position. Is it in a good light area Bad negative on power (getting from bnc) Also try as a test shine flashlight into camera see if goes colour Also can you give camera details. You might have duel voltage and with connecting power wrong you may have damaged 12v side (also not giving negative).

We had two ....... Problem is NO THEY DONT DO IP AND NO THEY DONT DO STANDARD ANALOG. and num-nut I am not pulling it apart ..... We bought two and it is misleading First it will only do analog if VGA output is taken from dvr and same with IP IF OUTPUT is taken from NVR. It's not a tester you can use at camera end. POE tester side is just multimeter Another good tester that works very well on IP https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/network-analyzer-ping-traceroute/id557405467?mt=8 And also displays camera image in wifi range and also alter ip addresses well worth a look -
Hi. Do you have power at birdhouse end ?

I'm of two minds on this one. Yes giving the customer access can be good. However I have one customer who screws around too much and messes up passwords and the like. So she needs minimal access to her system. Hi that would be the owners problem .... But if she need quick accesse to her own system then that option should be there. Your other option is once system is set up make a recovery men stick for her to use But long term like everything she will get used to working her system

Hi if your OS is showing up then you need to look at camera power supply. I would also undo all camera connections on dvr Test each camera same way as you did dvr direct to tv -
