Please Help or Give Advice for 64 IP Camera System
tomcctv replied to videocheez's topic in System Design
If your up against other installers and your going dahua route then you have a problem from the start NVR you have listed will not run 16 x 3mp Going for a job that size with out knowing specs or getting contract and finding out later it can't do the spec But look at another option ........ You want to use dahua and two lots of software ............ Is it not best to keep it all at one That saves money -
WD Announces Purple Surveillance Line
tomcctv replied to varascope's topic in General Digital Discussion
Wow WD enterprise system don't use purple ???????? They did a complain like this when the brought out the green drives. Desktop drives vs. surveillance-class storage You wouldn’t use a bicycle to transport cargo across the country because it’s not the right tool for the job. You also shouldn’t use a desktop hard drive in your surveillance security system because it wasn’t designed for that application. WD Purple surveillance-class storage has been tested to be compatible in a wide-range of security systems. These drives are designed to replace standard desktop drives that were not designed for the harsh 24/7 always-on, high-definition surveillance environment. Desktop drives are built to run for only short intervals and are not engineered to withstand high-temperature fluctuations and equipment vibrations found in a typical surveillance application. So we all must of got it wrong using standard drives for over 20 years -

T series and H series megapigel ip cams?
tomcctv replied to nikiforospav's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi first I would spend a few days on forum before you buy anything. Things to look out for is first your NVR ....... Not all NVRs support all cameras so that can be a cost mistake.. Is your system for home or business . And why only 1mp -
Also depends if wall is just for visual or include in the software alarm screen
-
Foscam just a waste of money .....you will spend more on install Foscam yes cheap but also not MP so why not still keep costs down and go analog at each location That will save you more money than Foscam Use all the same DVR at each location and few each at another remote location or on any system installed Add up Foscam then network then storage ........dvr is low budget yet better image that Foscam

Hikvision Chinese day of week fix question

Seems like a lot of work for nothing. Also ..... How would the camera stand up to electronic signature or watermark. No point if they show up as tamper. -
Looking for Linux NVR software.
tomcctv replied to MindrustUK's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We had the ACTi E97 last year.........no way is it a true 10mp It was on ACTi stand at ifsec and it was a camera that people could not understand why. It can't do 10mp video it can only do 30fps at 2mp 10mp was just snapshots in MPEG or 2fps But side by side any other 2 or3mp it was nothing better But worse is a fixed lens ....... 10mp with fixed lens is just pointless ACTi must also see the problem 10mp cheaper than there own 2mp -
Aver does but not on there budget Linux units NV/SA/touch. Are windows based The nano is even limited on there own CMS gold
