Best/Good Camera for Closeup Monitoring
tomcctv replied to JasonThick's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Box type of any camera would be better If price is a fracture then standard analog will also do your needs Are you looking to record and are you looking for realtime ? Your getting told to use 2 -3mp camera ..........don't see the point in you over paying for a dome camera. -
Best/Good Camera for Closeup Monitoring
tomcctv replied to JasonThick's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes you would need a recorder but it is going to be better for you. Box type camera on small tripod is going to allow you to move camera we're ever you want. And as far as IR . For that distance ......... 1 IR bulb will do on a battery -

I would forget using the dome from ACTI And go box type HD-SDI. It will be much cheaper for you and as box camera gives you options to use wide range of lens -
Best/Good Camera for Closeup Monitoring
tomcctv replied to JasonThick's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. can you give some idea on what you will be recording. 5mm to 10mm target from 300mm is this a moving target ??? also IR is not needed for that range -
webcam is IP protocol. your link is only a converter for analog to vga ...... allowing you to display analog onto a vga monitor its not a switch you would need a VGA switch before monitor to take your signal from pc (webcam) and signal from your cameras listed to be able to switch from one to another
-
Hi. Your problem is saying you don't need a dvr. You have two problems with your request 1st you are looking at bringing analog and ip together 2nd is your display .............your webcam is done via pc to get to monitor The analog you have listed will work with converter but you would then need a way to switch from one to another. Ie VGA switch. You will find it cheaper to run two analog and a dvr.......... It's up to you if you put H/drive in unit to record or not but if looking at car park it makes sence Hikvision with two cameras is only £129

Dahua video lagging. Do I have network problem?
tomcctv replied to BigCarbs's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
In your case the latest firmware will not help ..... Infact it will make your unit slower. You will only run at 7fps if you update. Your problem is trying to run a hybrid .....which it does not have the prosesing power to do. Your setup should be your 8 cameras on the dvr your 4 MP on your nev And then pull them both together with the PSS software As your NVR stands at the moment you are pulling 8 at 25fps And trying to run another 3 x 3mp and 1x 2mp at there full res and fps -

Microsofts latest update has removed compatability mode from auto to a manual input it used to be in search bar but now its in tools to safe. open dvr in windows go tools the compatability view settings then just press add. that will keep the settings

Dahua video lagging. Do I have network problem?
tomcctv replied to BigCarbs's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
taking off cameras is the same as lowering the res of each. that unit is best at 16 at 2mp fps @ 7 your collecting 12 cameras 3x3mp 1x 2mp and 8 xD1. your spec says 16 @5mp can be run ......... but what the spec does not tell you is you have to lowe the 5mp to D1 to run which is pointless. don't read specs from resellers ..... go to dahua site -

Dahua video lagging. Do I have network problem?
tomcctv replied to BigCarbs's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi the problem with that model NVR is that its limited. 160Mbs they list as best with cameras set to minimum. also 160Mbs you have to include calling your DVR to your NVR. try lowering your 3mp to 2mp and see how it goes also just for test remove DVR from NVR. you would be much better sending NVR back and using there hybrid dahua. that takes away switches and a basic local network is all that's needed also the new hybrids are much better on remote view via idmms -
5000 is way to low for what you are expecting from a camera. but for Costal security best to lease a camera link this in to your radar system and it will do all the work for you. FLIR HRC-Series http://www.flir.com/cs/emea/en/view/?id=42061

Looking for a VMS with these functions (if exists)
tomcctv replied to hardcopy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hardcopy. Hi. get yourself a coffee sit back and read your above quote over and over. your problems first ........ it will take you two years before you see any profit from your customer with $80 camera and 6 years for you $20 cameras and the more customers you get the more outlay you have. you would have to give your customers cameras that have good warranty just to protect your outlay and have you seen the cost of liability insurance for monitoring. but any customer with a good head for figures is going to ask you to explain WHY first is $80 and the rest are ONLY $20 that does not add up at all -
