DVR: AVE MVDR 5000 vs. GVI AR-6040. Which one?
tomcctv replied to NorwayCCTV's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi your problem is they are too cheap for a reason. the AVE might be new off ebay ........but its been sitting on a shelf for 7 years (thats the last time i fitted one) its a basic system but no networking. GVI i have not used -
well am sorry it was ............. you have red-yellow and black YES ???? with your cheap lead kits. and you want to replace with thicker cable. the answer is still NO your problem is your cable .... it needs to be 75ohms which your lead kits are not. cat5 with baluns or rg59 with power are your only options
-
hi. no nothing to do with adverts on cab. if this is the way you are going you will be best with a usb recorder (maplins also sell them.) you cant go direct rca to usb with analog. 4 cameras and also audio.
-
YES I DO. ............ BUT if you can't get RS 485 to work at only 50M. It's you that has the problem not me READ POST. 50m. (160 ft). IS NOT A PROBLEM
-
NO NO this will not work either. all you need is cat5 and a standard balun .......1 at each camera and 1 at DVR end

geovision-8F18B8' with just a trial software........ you cant do anything ..... not even remote viewing.
-
How is it they are 100ohms? best looking at the cheap cables as being balanced ........ there just not made for cctv. ......... not only that the power side is next to useless...... as already been stated
-
hi. it all depends how old your firmware is on your unit ........ also it is always best to load remote viewer direct from unit and not from the internet. if you load webviewer first (click run as administrator ) in I.E, then from webviewer you can load remote viewer from icons on the right...... this will be the right remote. or it will auto reset the one you have loaded IF this does not work let me know and ill send you a code that will install it.

Hi. the cable link from ebay ......... these are crap your cameras and DVR are 75ohm and right from the start those cheap cables will give you quality problems as there 100ohms simple fix for you is to use cat5 with baluns......... you then can use two pair for power then you will see your image improve and also with using baluns to give you 75ohms though your full system you will also see night image improve

Need help with buying a new HDD for my dvr
tomcctv replied to sincara's topic in General Digital Discussion
Well knowing avtech you will have problems .... What you have to remember is reviews are based on PC use and not DVRs Both having different operations. All you can do is try the SV drive if that's the way you want. To go. Or just go with a western digital black .......which are good drives. And remember you have a limit on size for avtech -
Need help with buying a new HDD for my dvr
tomcctv replied to sincara's topic in General Digital Discussion
just to add to this post. both seagate and western digital have now stated they will only support and warranty some drives for CCTV use. warranties to as little as one year. Starting on December 31st, Seagate will cut protection for most standard desktop and notebook drives from five years to one, and other drives, including its hybrid Momentus XT, will get three-year warranties instead of five-year ones. Meanwhile, Western Digital is reducing the warranties for three of its drives — the Caviar Blue, Caviar Green, and Scorpio Blue as others have found out on the forum blue, green HDD dont work -

Need help with buying a new HDD for my dvr
tomcctv replied to sincara's topic in General Digital Discussion
think you will find its your programe and not hard drive. his DVR does not shut down its 24/7 spin............. so sv is pointless. spec are the same sv says it will last a lot longer ONLY if it stops and starts which your DVR DOES NOT DO sincara. the true maker of your DVR is avtech they have a list of hard drives to use. -

tomcctv replied to sincara's topic in General Digital Discussion
what i am saying is YOU only have a budget its a good chance a SV drive will not work in your budget DVR .................... so you will need to buy twice. so your $100 budget is gone. you have had two years out of your existing hard drive....... you might get more from the next. you could have a bad cooling fan that has taken out your drive. BEST with the same that come out of your DVR. -
i think you're in the wrong line of work. this information is so wrong, it's beyond laughable. the guy is well past laughable. marvincctv i see your in china ................. please tell us how you can claim you are part of BSIA. just shows china will print and copy anything for sales even if they dont understand it

tomcctv replied to sincara's topic in General Digital Discussion
dont buy twice if you only have $100 budget then buy what came out of your dvr. SV drive is too slow for your dvr and will give you problems .......green or low power give budget units problems -
