the guy is talking crap...... any monitor or tv..... if they have AV or VGA or you just use a KVM. just seen your other post on price. if this is the same guy and he is saying you need a SPECIAL monitor ..... with your quote and the SPECIAL monitor you are looking at 5K. and thats just for a basic analog system. i would spend time on the forum for a few days it will save you money. it does not matter how many questions you ask there are lots of people here to help. what are you protecting / how many cameras do you need / are you able to do the install yourself ??

yes very very high. the dvr is budget and new to the market.
-
hi. dvr is budget and also new to the market. but that depends on what budget you have to work with. a few ways of doing it. cheapest is over PC/Laptop but if your looking to just have a monitor then VGA out via a KVM exterder with mouse control. you just need a cat5 cable from DVR to monitor.

I need help making an IP camera system
tomcctv replied to unsportsmanlike's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
this has already started in the UK. axis used to help till there support team were not able to help distributors with jamed phone lines. like many others now who with out a distribution number your call will be re routed to a premier rate phone line. and the cost of the call is to pay for the tech support. also axis do like others have cameras comming out of china not autherised by axis which they will not support at all -
Hi. lots of good units out there that do just what you need everfocus and avermedia. as far as advertising this is best done on monitor. so pick a monitor that has SD or mem pen to display adds. it is much easier to control if your ADD customers are late or bad payers

nvrdns.com...STRANGE phone call from microsoft !!!
tomcctv replied to stephanovich's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi. mcrosoft would never contact you about your computer. they dont know who or where your are never mind your contact details. nvrddn is a spyware service and operates under another 6 names. i would spend time removing there service. even a system restore. and also make shure your external ip changes before you sign up to a good well know DDNS service -
Hi. avtech units should only need to have a firmware update if you have problems. if you dont have problems then leave your unit as it is. firmware are for fixes. it does not make a dvr newer. also if you load the wrong software I.E regional. you will kill your unit. V1014 is for the B units z being the region of where unit was sold. its a 50/50 guess

hi i think you will find it mucg easier to just go and buy your rg59 from a good distributor. dont listen to manufacturers who say thay will make the cable for you. or just go cat5 keep installs simple

I need help making an IP camera system
tomcctv replied to unsportsmanlike's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
if it was a pick dahua nvr or build then build 100%. dahua nvr is very limited to the point you are wasting your money on MP cameras. or look for a hybrid DVR that is controll by camera settings and not the nvr settings. for your 4 cameras you will need to use the dahua 16 just to get the best settings for 4 mp cameras -
New Revo install - night vision issues
tomcctv replied to jdjeff58's topic in General Digital Discussion
hi. motion or always record does not effect your HD that runs 24/7 all the time. -
After months of searching this board I've decided on this.
tomcctv replied to MrE's topic in System Design
Hi. MrE. secod to your home is your car. and cars are broken into more than homes now. so i would look at your placement of cams 5 and 6 to cover both sides of your car. other things to try and get into images is any AC units you have outside. -
New Revo install - night vision issues
tomcctv replied to jdjeff58's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi. jdjeff58 you have 2tb of storage. so you have space to record. motion only recording is always a problem. i have not looked at your dvr manual but you may also have a setting for smart record (records in cif 24/7 and motion will be recorded in D1) this works well with pre and post recording. sending DVR back will just give you the same problem ....cameras are the first thing to look at and if your using built in IR cameras you will always have problems with motion. -

tomcctv replied to Odesys's topic in General Digital Discussion

Hi. Footage taken from dvr can be altered but easy to detect as dvr will leave electronic signature or watermark which will tell you its been altered. As far as to alter then put footage back into dvr is yes impossible

Sorry most link out Ave ......... Used there products for years and very good reck support

Hi. its not as easy with just a splitter. the kgaurd will only record and play back on 1 channel so putting mics away from that channel will give you no video. if say all mics are to be used in the same camera area then yes multi mics can be used but you will need a mic box (activates each mic with the most volume) sound activation. but your looking at $6 to $900 then your mics. its cheaper to replace dvr with more inputs.

One DVR with different users with different channels.
tomcctv replied to judew's topic in General Digital Discussion
hi some avtechs let you while creating accounts and some you have to go back in. go to menu then click system you will see either a general button ..... click and go to accouts..... or a direct account button. click on that and all your created accounts will show and you can edit the accounts from there to which cameras each account has access to. DONT DO ANYTHING to your admin admin account or you will lock your system. -

tomcctv replied to carrier82's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi with axis we used to do updates that seemed to work but still little networking problems. then we were told by axis to always do a hard reset before installing firmware and going back to factory always sorted it. -
