fantastic ...... you pay for a brand new DVR RMA it and they send you a refurb (which they have listed on ebay) for half the price. dont give them a 3rd chance. 8 way dvr with cameras for $400 dont exist i would say get your money back and start fresh. $400 for a system sounds good ....... but if it does not work or when you need it most find out you have no footage then $400 turns into a waste of money. start of with a new 8 way DVR a brand name and then add cameras as and when your budget allows. it wont take long to have a full system built. spend some time on the forum pick up ideas on cabling baluns cat5 cameras DVRs and you will build yourself a good system.

yes low latency....... only in live view. as far as FPs goes that depends on the recorder and out of the 3 makes in a demo today not 1 could get over 15fps and 1 unit could only do that if you changed from 1080 to 720. the cable lenth problem of 100m can be extended at each 100m with repeaters but at a stupid price. a 4 way HD-SDI with cameras and a few extenders falls way within the price of a avigilon system. and its always going to be at the back of your mind........ the cost of spares. and loan units

hi. then you dont have the 674B ..... can you post a picture of your board
-
yes you can give it a go. but still not 100% fix it depends on the firmware you tried to load. the wrong region could wipe your units software.
-
hi flyby. can you give more info ....... did your unit just stop working or have you tried doing a firmware and now have boot problems. first test with avtech is to remove hard drive and mouse then see if it reboots.

Thinking about a pc based system
tomcctv replied to gazz's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi. gazz. aver NV 5000 card will do what you want and more. if you have a touch screen everything can be done on screen. even your PTZ ..... you just put finger on screen move finger left or right and your PTZ moves with it. these cards come with TV output. again with symbian you have full control of ptz but with symbian (java) you only get 1 screen at a time but has quick screen change. if you want a ip to try on your mobile PM me. -
Norbain. have never been the uk biggest distributor. norbain UK is only a small part of the norbain group. norbain did the same in 2000, with Baxall and again in 2005. and again last friday ...... they close there doors saturday and sunday and trading again monday morning. this means all depts to the likes of panisonic/ sony/ axis/ mobotix dont exist. suppliers owed money they will never see. the best thing to do is not buy from any norbain companies

Multiple IP Cams with live feeds over the internet - Project
tomcctv replied to mds1256's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi. it depends on what you call cheap. you dont need to use IP cameras if you are on a budget. for the area you are covering in each Kennel lots of standard DVR will do what you need. you just need to setup some admin rights >>> USER name >>>> admin password >>>> kennel 1. ..... will only allow user access to cam 1 kennel 2 .... cam 2 and so on. one thing to look out for is the number of logon users the DVR allows and a DVR that allows you to enter a lenth of time a customer can logon for. just so as they dont stay on 24/7 you can make them re-log back in but yes it can be done at a good cost. the aver nano 8 is a good start. but i would say look at the aver nano 16. if you are going to the expence have 8 other cameras protecting your business. -
hi. its an old TVT unit also sold as q-see or sams. not sold anymore. only CIF quality ...... worth about $50
-
sorry. yes i thought you was going analog with you posting the lead kits. if you are looking at ip then cat5 is needed to locations of cameras. as for the Vivotek IP8332. this is only a 1mp camera (budget camera with high price) always look for 1.3mp and above

Panasonic WV CK 2020 doesn't display video from EyeSurv
tomcctv replied to habusho's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi. yes you will need to go vga ................ is your monitor close to your dvr ??? also if you go vga on a good monitor you will see the quality .... even much better than your old avtech -
hi. lead kits are never a good idea. even if you use a lead kit or a reel of cat5 with baluns the work involved with installing them is the same. as soon as you have installed to 2 cameras the two blank screens are going to drive you potty. with using cat5 (and not lead kits) you can have 4 cameras down 1 cable. or run 1 cat5 to the rear of your house and 1 cat5 to the front and that gives you 2 cameras at rear with power and 2 at front. if your only going for 2 analog cameras. and not looking for MP ip then i would look at a dahua kit. dahua DVR / 4 cameras / power supply / all BNC connectors / 100m of rg59 and power cable / stripping tools / and crimp set for less than half your budget.

Panasonic WV CK 2020 doesn't display video from EyeSurv
tomcctv replied to habusho's topic in Digital Video Recorders
these units are best run on wide screen monitors. have you tried pluging a camera direct into your monitor to see what you get. -
hi. no it would cost you more extention lead then 12v power supply
-
it is very good. for both PC and mac. it takes a bit to get used too and learn but not hard.
-
hi. Dave. no DVR will only do video ... for power you will need to either install a local power supply (same area as camera) or use a multi output unit .... this can be installed along side your dvr.

License Plate Camera Situation and Recommendation
tomcctv replied to tutech's topic in System Design
Hi reg-x cams are a very basic close range setup. first you do not need D1 cif is best for these cameras. also with using CIF you should keep that camera channel on 24hr record. if you use D1 and any thing like motion you will not get a plate. -

Burning out capture Cards
tomcctv replied to grippo's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
hi. can you give a detailed list of your setup. just reading your post it could be lots of things to burn your cards out. 24v putting out 44v ....... did you have your meter set right ???............. 44v into a 24v camera = smoke and sparks. if this is down to voltage down coax. you would have seen this as soon as you connected to the card. but you could also have a problem if some cameras are fitted to a steel building. this could also be that your dvr build does not have air cooling. building 8 or 16ways is ok but going 32 you need lots of fans (we run 8 on ours) some to take in air some to take out. a over heating card will give the same results. can you list specs of your dvr / camera types / cable used (coax or cat5) type of power supply / and camera distance. -
hi. simple way is with coax seal tape. it does a much better job http://buylmr400.com/m-linerless-rubber-splicing-tape-130c-coax-seal/
