Home security CCTV installation, please help.
tomcctv replied to ichayan's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
bullet cameras at the hight you have is your picture can and will be moved by people or kids passing even stolen. since your cameras are not looking for any distance i would look at the mini CNB it is only the size of a golf ball. in white / black or gray i dont recommend pre-made cables to start with. RG59 or in your case i would use cat5 with baluns (you only need 1 cable for your install to run the 3 cameras at the front) chopping connectors of the camera ends in most cases will void warranty -

Hi. first off yes i would return your system for a refund. looking at the spec you cant workout what it is your buying Display Resolution 720x480 (N), 720x576 (P) Recording Resolution CIF : 352x240 (N), 352x288 (P) 2CIF : 704x240 (N), 704x288 (P) 4CIF : 704x480 (N), 704x576 (P) sounds good then they put this. Monitoring Speed 120 / 100 ips @ CIF (NTSC / PAL), **Guaranteed Recording Speed 120 / 100 ips @ CIF (NTSC / PAL), **Guaranteed Playback Speed 120 / 100 ips @ CIF (NTSC / PAL), **Guaranteed monitoring speed is the same as Display resolution................... it all point to a cif system. you want at least a 4cif or D1 looking at your house i would use domes and not bullets. as for a DVR look at all the posts for a dahua unit of Dahua (use search top right of this page) you will find screen shots and software threads (dahua kits) are not much more than the maplins unit -
not on the new nano. it does have hdmi. also another change is the limit of IP cameras on the old it was max 5mp on first channel only and 1.3 on 234. now the unit is total 8mp across all 4. the update to the app has play back and snap shot and also switch on and off of sensors (or lights if relay fitted)

hi. your first test should be to log on via WAN not using your ddns account. just use your external ip and port. http://yourexternal-ip:portnumber you can find your external ip by clicking here from the same network your dvr is on. http://www.whatismyip.com/

Newbie question 4cam DVR /2 cam system /
tomcctv replied to atomb's topic in General Digital Discussion
which is why i said picture in picture................ no point buying something that is built to display 4 cameras like your QC-904R just like his dvr he is not going to use to its full for PIP you just need to add 1 of these to channel 1 and 2 on your dvr. if your in the US i have sent a link to the PIP box -
which i thing he has been told i think were getting mixed up. PRO or HD the new units. will not work with old units the I range from qvis or known as HD range dahua and it is bad when qvis is cheaper than the makers for the apps so if the op is asking for the pro then its qvis (or dahua its the HD) but its still the same you cant load new HD firmware onto a old dahua and expect to use the new apps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mm.android.direct.adatahd&hl=en

Newbie question 4cam DVR /2 cam system /
tomcctv replied to atomb's topic in General Digital Discussion
some DVRs will do picture in picture ....... but not yours. you can buy a cctv picture in picture box either 2 split or full screen and small second camera image ........ some have motion and will flick from cameras. but its the cost. you are better adding 2 more cameras to your system than PIP. -
hi Dave. the new nano dvrs are now being built with hdmi. but android tv box is also an easy way to view and play back so you can hide your dvr. (picks up from your wifi) the nano can now take upto a max of 8mp for your home you could install a MP camera at the front of house and good analog CNB at rear and sides yes 4 way hybrids are easy to install everything can be done in cat5 for either cameras if you want some IP address of some systems to try on your android just let me know .

Tom, DMSS is the generic name of the program, and then you have different versions. iDMSS is the iPhone version, gDMSS is the Android version. Then you have Lite versions (free), and Plus versions (paid). And then you have the HD version, which is for tablets. So you would have for Android: gDMSS Lite gDMSS Plus gDMSS HD Lite gDMSS HD (this one would be like "HD Plus") and then you have the exact same versions for iPhone (iDMSS). I would say there is no problem using any of this versions with older Dahua DVRs, some of the newer features (like push notifications) will not work. ok you have the lite and plus in your list. my post was the new idmss PRO. there brand new push app and only works with there new range (here in the uk) it cant be used on DVR pre may 2012 and android device must be latest OS or push will not work and you cant with android do this. this is the new android app. https://lh3.ggpht.com/YA6kFDRq2s93asUvZNmdbB5RfhkcfghqmBSkLXxDPTYu1Zla_m5nE7nExcmBMCK346Q=h230

hi. idmss is a new app and will ONLY work with the new DVR range. and you cant do a firmware on a old DVR to use idmss pro. (you will kill your unit) and idmss pro ONLY works on tablets and idmss is for iphone and android.

Hi. david. you have a good budget if installing yourself. and your budget also allows you to go hybrid .... both analog and MP. most systems now will give you 20 days recording and iphone / ipad and android. take a look at the aver nano 4 . http://surveillance.aver.com/model/embedded-hybrid-DVR-EH1004H-4-Nano

Max days storage in your countries
tomcctv replied to Razesdark's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Home systems have no limit but businesses are 21 to 31 days in the UK -
stop changing your company name so often then. also world wide. you have to do better than just sell another brand name. your company has to design build and invest ............... your just 1 of 1000s of distributors

The ethics behind Covert camera installations.
tomcctv replied to Numb-nuts's topic in General Digital Discussion
covert in the UK needs a licence a lot of paperwork a trip to the court to see a judge and then can only be in place for a max time decided by the courts. and hard to get. stick to the law. uk law installer is Responsible. -
call back in tomorrow and just say you did not want to talk about his security needs infront of a 3rd party. then ask can you see the other guys quote so as YOU can check if the customer is getting value for money. we have not knocked on doors for over 12 years. it is hard work and you dont get to talk to the owner most of the time. going back to talk might be a good thing.

tomcctv replied to cam2017's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
router. add custom rules. name > cctv start port > 8080 end port > 8080 protocol > both local ip >192.168.0.8 then click add. DNS needs to be 192.168.000.001
