hi. i would give both trendnet and the samsung you listed a miss. Trendnet...... are just webcams samsung ....... limited plug and play. (only samsung cameras) with you already having axis and looking to back it up with cheaper cameras you are best looking at a hybrid. this gives you the option to run both IP and analog. POE ........... i think you are looking at poe for ease of install analog can also be power video /audio over 1 cat5. if you are on a budget ........ you dont need to install everything all at once. just buy your hybrid install your axis and then buy more ip or analog as you go along. if you buy cheap you pay twice. this hybrid will run either 8 analog cameras or 4 analog and 4 - 2mp cameras or channel 1 upto 5mp and the other 3 1.3 http://surveillance.aver.com/model/embedded-hybrid-DVR-EH1008H-4-Nano analog cameras i would look at CNB range for low cost IP mp cameras you can find these on the forum. but they also come as 1.3mp or 2mp (they will make trendnet look like toys. Tall aluminum light poles for camera mounting
tomcctv replied to EarlT's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
hi EarlT. when you have your pole take it to a local welding shop and do a few mods to it. here in the UK you can buy split lighting poles (swings low from centre) or you can put a concrete base in and mod your lighting post base like this. -
hi. what is your reason for new firmware ??? firmware should only be used if your dvr has a problem. doing a firmware on a dahua if its not the right one ... will damage your unit

Tall aluminum light poles for camera mounting
tomcctv replied to EarlT's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
hi. lighting pole is good to use. like the wireguys say vibration is not a problem. the only thing you might have is sway in high winds. but again this is only noticable if you are using the zoom to near its max. and since this is for your home surroundings i dont see you having that problem -
Port Forwarding Help
tomcctv replied to tommyxv's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
ok so everyone must use VPN to view there system ???? I see you're in troll mode again. were does troll come from ......... you say i have selective reading................... well as you see i did not. i was just pointing out a fact ....... not to spend more money on another inline router..... the op can go VPN later if he wishes too but at this point its not needed. networking is easy. but for people who are new to it its best to setup first and then sort out security and the likes of ddns after -
Port Forwarding Help
tomcctv replied to tommyxv's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
ok so everyone must use VPN to view there system ???? no offence taken. back to the security. we do alot of work with CNB and spend alot of money direct with them each year. cms does not have passwords (well it does for internal users ) so this alone is good security. not only who ever wants to hack his PC with his cameras on they will also need to know what software he is using. cms from cnb can not be taken from his system like say a remote viewer it has to be loaded onto every pc or laptop to accsess his system. so that in its self is security along with his ip and port numbers verizon routers now have high security in place (you cant even change to another make now) you have to use the one with your price plan. i would go for direct ip link to see if verizon blocks you. tommyxv do you have set-top tv with your router ??? -
have you seen how old that artical is ??? cctv has changed alot since then quote >> Using a higher resolution will provide more image detail, but the file will be very large. I recommend using 320x240 for several reasons:
-
hi. i was going to say welcome to the forum.
-
is that all. with 30 years you should know even on motion you are still using twice the hard drive space at 30fps. since you cant see any differance between 15 and 30 fps which ever way you want to put it your still wasting money so what country are you in that makes cat5 so expensive ??
-
change your distributor. it should cost the same or less. but coax might seam cheaper. lets take 4 cameras 100m away from dvr (same direction) thats 400m of coax ...... its only 100m of cat5. plus you must be limited to the size of installs you do ??? FPS. ok if you want to set at 30fps for your customer thats your choice. but why put your customers through a big expence in extra hard drives. you or your customer cant see the differance from 15 to 30fps. 30fps or coax is not the only thing that make you or anyone else a perfectionist

Port Forwarding Help
tomcctv replied to tommyxv's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
yes i know all that. but we are not talking on protecting a bank system or nasa. by changing ports will make it more secure than port 80. or just allow mac address through router even more secure. but at the moment this tread is going way off line to the point of spending more money to the op to use a VPN router inline. but reading through the posts the op has not even got external connection working yet. (he only has local) on both PCs and mobiles. external connection need to be working first before he spends more money on VPN. -
Port Forwarding Help
tomcctv replied to tommyxv's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
hi. have you had your system working with your external ip. (over network not just local ) and also on another network? 80 is your default port but you can change this to make your network secure. pick something from 83 to 5555. and which ever number you pick portforward that to your setup. you also need to portforward port 8602 -
Port Forwarding Help
tomcctv replied to tommyxv's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
hi. the first thing is not to set port 80 up on your router (you dont need to portforward port 80) which other ports did you direct in your router for your CNB. -
Hi. it sounds like you have a avtech dvr. can you post a picture of your unit as they have a few models. one thing that should not be done by you or anyone else is remove the hard drive you can loose the footage.
