Dome options for Arecont Vision cameras?
tomcctv replied to thekuai's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
i would spend a little more than $60 for a dome. is there a reason why you want a dome ??? you can use arecont housing or a 3rd party one. you will find you dont need a heater as the camera puts out some good heat anyway. Arecont http://www.arecontvision.com/images/products/HSG1-O-W_xl.jpg -
AVtech EagleEyes (iOS) lags behind and has low FPS
tomcctv replied to ljnl's topic in General Digital Discussion
hi. if it was the eagleeyes software you would see lots of posts on here about it. so you need to look at your network (as tech support says) can you not connect both DVRs to the same router. (dont bridge it) and see what you get. do you have wifi switched off on your second router ?? -
hi. CNB will not reply to emails without a partner code. you cant buy direct. you might find you have email from a distributor.

PTZ Joystick control and DVR control help
tomcctv replied to chongsparks's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
hi. yes you can............ but you will have to give more information first to see if the equipment you have supports PTZ control via your remote software, what make is your DVR/NVR does everything work local. how will you be viewing .....PC/ mobile ?? -
hi. had a look at your link system. 16 way and all is good. the CNBs are only fix lens good for your isles but you might also think of swapping a few of the kit cames for some Varifocals around your cash areas and entry/exits. you also should make cash area and doorway vandal domes something like CNB VCB-24VF

WV-SC385 and 940nm IR?
tomcctv replied to LittleScoobyMaster's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi. you are just wasting money with illuminator for that camera. and you also need the external housing. (extra) 940 is only good if you spend the money but for a PTZ you need something like the Raymax or a repeater PT head to match your PTZ with a illuminator fitted. -
Does anyone know why this happens - Rainbow effect
tomcctv replied to groovyman's topic in Security Cameras
these cameras are the basics from CNB. board camera fitted to a dome .... $45. and you have no settings to help setup (fixed mona) you will not get much better using a fixed lens. -

hi. its hard to say if it could be a H/drive fail with a avtech. other aspects of the avtech software can also give you the same result. a problem with avtech is its time reliant. i.e if you change the time on the dvr on some units it cant see old footage (this also does the same it cant give H/drive size) it might be worth you doing a full format on hard drive and see if it helps. if you are under warranty Dont open your unit or try a hard reset. this may give you warranty problems.

Building a new house and want to wire for CCTV...
tomcctv replied to steveko23's topic in System Design
hi there is not much between ip and analog now. with a realistic budget. for a 4 way system i would look at hybrid. http://surveillance.aver.com/model/embedded-hybrid-DVR-EH1004H-4-Nano then you have the option of both analog and MP-IP. no licence costs to run ip. full monitoring from anything -
hi. cat3 if it is this type. this type of cable is much thinner than cat5 and with 12v 4 amp over that distance amps may be a problem. you could use your coax for the power (bigger core) and just put a balun on 1 pair of your cat3 and another pair for your data.

Building a new house and want to wire for CCTV...
tomcctv replied to steveko23's topic in System Design
hi. you are talking of two types of systems your AV guy is quoting analog and if you are using POE then you would be looking at IP system. but as far a cables i would run cat5 (which can be used for both types of systems) and while you are at this stage in your house building run cat5 everywhere (you will wish you had) not just for cctv but also home automation. (its the furure ) how many cameras are you looking at installing and what is your budget. -
there is a good saying in buisness. (dont become a DONKY) money is not made by sales on things like this its the collection and storage were the money is made. and it sounds expensive (cost less than a employer to run) its a CIF solution at a high price. (10 years in the making) other companies have in just a few years have the same Analytics now and you dont have the alert costs everytime. avigilon has better Analytics even axis has something the same called tripwire. then you just need to stup an account at a monitoring station if you have a customer that needs full monitoring
-
hi. dont spend alot of money on cameras if you are going to use that q-see card. for that card look for cameras around the $40- $60. your only recording in low FPS at CIF (you cant make it better by buying 600tvl cameras) your just wasting money. http://www.apexcctv.com/c-49-infrared-security-cameras.aspx

Recommendations for Cameras Sensitive to 940nm IR
tomcctv replied to kgk's topic in Security Cameras
Hi. yes we have setup these cameras for cheshire police in covert areas. with 940s (nothing over 25m) but good images. ill PM you a link to cam and illuminator. -
Been advised on this system. Is it any good?
tomcctv replied to Stubblehound's topic in System Design
£85 for a sharp chip. (not the best) avtech also sold via maplins at least they have the price right. but by far not the best you can get. look at dahua much better and has better remote software. -
Hi. NO dont add any power .... (you have converted rs232 to USB ) max power 5v. have you assigned your converter to a com port (it should be listed in your device manager) to a port number. you then have to use that port in PTZ setup on your logic. rs485 will be TD (A) and TD(B) + being A

Satisfactory CCTV System For My New Restaurant (Which One?)
tomcctv replied to Filiatrinos's topic in General Digital Discussion
cameras are counterfit, , only 14 cameras were sent not 16. 2 cams not working Buyer: Member id 5staxxxxx ( Feedback Score Of 25) 16-Apr-12 22:15 16CH H.264 DVR Security CCTV System 1/3" Sony CCD In&Outdoor Cameras Any Combine (#280758898219) your ebay listing has only been on ebay for 2 months and already has 57 dont deal feed backs. Take a Read and if you want to send him another $1.600 then you need medical help. and i dont mean that to be nasty am helping you save what is close to your full budget and the guy is not in the usa like he says he is http://feedback.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=mydepots&iid=260832745656&de=off&items=25&which=negative&interval=365&_trkparms=negative_365 see even from one of your own ebay links you are going to loose your budget from the start. also with a ebay check you will see you are buying from china and not usa. the last link you posted is an old system (Dahua) and was only out for a short time. your budget is low for a 16 way with two POS inputs. but you dont need to install everything in 1 go if you are doing the install yourself. start with a good dvr good cables and 8 cameras and add as and when you can ...... just install cat5 runs on first install even to places you will be adding cameras later and you will soon have a good system.
