Samsung SDE-4001 - How to increase live viewing resolution?
tomcctv replied to widgetboy's topic in Security Cameras
hi. you will need to drop your FPS down to 3.5fps to get higher resolution settings to change. you should just be having this problem when viewing recorded footage ??? live viewing is set at 704x480. if you mean remote via mobile then your unit will only do cif. -

Residential install, need camera recommendations 8ch
tomcctv replied to IMcctv's topic in System Design
sorry no not CNB. lots of cameras comming out of china (ebay is full of them) starting from $20. they say effio but there not. its safer to go with a brand name if you look for cameras with effio chips. the CNB in the link is a tride and tested camera by many installers -

sorry yes i was looking at your first post for a gv600b which is not the same as the old gv600. but even with the gv600 make sure it is the gv600-8 and not the dv600 + expansion card. and your other link is for a avtech DVR you will get more for your money if you go dahua DVR -

tomcctv replied to BagPuss's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
hi. it does not support upto 16 cameras you have to buy gv600b in 4 -8 or 16 channel and its only the 4 way gv600b that is around £150. and for that money i would go hybrid like the aver NV5000t. also you have no extra costs like ip or pos licence -
maplin n09jj dvr network problems
tomcctv replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi. i would forget about using a service like ddns or no-ip till everything is working. its much easier to see problems. ports you need to open if 80 is blocked use 8080 and for your dvr you also need to open 6001 6002 6003. you also need to test your external ip away from the network and you would test like this http://yourexternal ip:8080 also you need to enable network in your dvr network settings. once its all working then add your external to a service like ddns or no ip -
My new PTZ camera bit the dust already..waaaa
tomcctv replied to hey_moe's topic in Security Cameras
hi all analog cameras put a voltage back to dvr via coax (only small amount) but if something happends to the electronics of the camera and puts out a larger amount then DVRs will start to play up. i.e reboot/ shut down and as all cameras have the same ground it can also effect other cameras -
it will work fine as it is ....... bad images bad controls and bad burn off you can buy them now for $2 if you buy 10 at a time. sorry but to run 1 camera never mind 4 you need to spend money. if $68 for a hybrid 4 way card is too much then your stuck with what you have.

tomcctv replied to hey_moe's topic in Security Cameras
hi. i would not bother with asking the company to send parts i would get your money back. (another will only fail within a year) if your PTZ is only 12v then a power supply of 15v is not going to help. do you know the amp used by the camera ?? also over power can damage the power ribbon from board to camera. take a look for a burnt out wire on each end of the ribbon. -
hi. link sent via PM.

how can i get rid of Interference elevator
tomcctv replied to ademco's topic in General Digital Discussion
RG59 standed is only for a short patch. things like PTZ heads ..... if you have gone over 15m then it will give problems. have you used cat5 just from camera to start of RG59 ???? not tried it but you might be better with the RG59 standed direct to camera and use baluns at each end of your stranded RG59. -
Port 80 redirect or Web hop - any success stories?
tomcctv replied to BlackDiamond's topic in Computers/Networking
you may find it easier if you change your DVR port from 80 to something else. 86 of something like that. then all you have to do is add the port when you call on your ip. i.e http:// your ip : 86 i would get everything working first before you use a service like no ip or ddns. -
hi. the problem with USB recorders are there cheap £7 and there that price for a reason. if you have everything in place and a PC to run everything then i would spend a little more on a 4 way DVR card. a avermedia NV3000 card is only £65. and its also hybrid so you can add a MP ip camera later. but with going with the card also gives you better remote viewing from anywere have good recording time weeks if needed.

what to use to get internet wireless to my dvr
tomcctv replied to moe77009's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi. better than wireless is the network over power line from netgear -
Hi. what is your pc setup for having too cards ??? RAM / graph cards. the H is a Hardware Compression card. so will need alot more than the standard NV5000 software Compression. no you dont need card connection cables like some software compression cards do. but before setup of a H card you do need to go into BIOS settings and switch off Hyper Threading
-
yes it can be the reason. is it the geo box used for the POS ??? and how many are being used. if you only have 1 HD them that can also be a problem with geo pos. you may need to add more Hard drives and direct pos data to that. also how many days is the POS file holding the data before it dumps it

hi. yes thats fine for data

Q-See QT 528 cannot port forward cannot remote view
tomcctv replied to BlackDiamond's topic in Computers/Networking
sounds like a problem with your dvr ip. the q-see will show 2 ip addresses 1 in network and the other in the information window ...... both should be the same. or remove the information box all together from dvr. you can do this with the firmware ........ sent to your PM box. -
can you go into menu from the dvr with the rs485.

Q-See QT 528 cannot port forward cannot remote view
tomcctv replied to BlackDiamond's topic in Computers/Networking
hi. i would try with your external ip first before using there ddns service. just to take out setup problems then once working then set the ddns service. from a pc on the same network as your dvr type myip into google. or click on link for your external ip. http://www.whatismyip.com/ -
did you get into the test menu. ???
-
because your pluging direct into a monitor. (from the coax.) you can only use the monitor outlet (test lead) then into monitor. insert test lead press joystick to right then select PAL or NTSC you are then in test mode. if you want to use the camera only on a HD tv then you will need the HDMI box

Q-See QT 528 cannot port forward cannot remote view
tomcctv replied to BlackDiamond's topic in Computers/Networking
hi. see if port 80 is blocked ...... change it to 85 or something. then remember you have to add the port into the wan address (as your not using 80) http://yourexternalip:85 also with some ISP you cant use your external ip on your own lan so you will need to test away from your own network or get a friend to log on for you. -
i would also go with RAM. also are you running your system to max. try changing some to cif and turn down fps and see if it still crashes
