Question on Video Encoders / CCTV to IP conversion
tomcctv replied to LC475's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. for 24 cameras that is going to be a lot of money. have you thought about going hybrid . to run all your cameras -
to make it easy for you..... you have it right in your picture BUT you dont need the white wire in your picture where you have yellow going to coax centure and your 2 black cables together. you will find it easier to make you connection with 1 of these. yellow would go into the + and your 2 back cable will go into -. then you will just run power to the black and red tails left. then to connect your camera to your cable you will just need to convert the end with 1 of these.

i would start by looking at a DVR/NVR first. a few now come with POS built in and the advantages of that is each item is trackable where as if you just go for a basic overlay 1. they cost and you have no store of products. your register has no problems with what you want to do either via rs485 or direct over utp ..... (its the same as the torex system)
-
hi. can you list your DVR and what type of register you have (make)

Setting up a system and need some advise
tomcctv replied to z-man's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi. that card is no longer made . you can buy a hybrid unit for that price. please dont its just a VGA camera with digital zoom (which is useless) and you will also find it is not supported by most hybrids (its not with the aver) the forum has just helped you save $1000. with pointing out both of your products are not compatable. it looks like you are looking for budget ip (network cameras) because of the distance ??? as you have only picked VGA cameras (for your ip) this can also waste your money .. as in building a network extra switchers. it would be worth the money if you was going IP MP (1.3mp or above) can you post a google image of the area you need to cover ..... it will make it easier for people to help. are you in a location where you cant get a cable to each camera ?? -
it was 8k for a analog system.
-
sounds like your dvr has lost its auto detect. power your DVR off then hold down the right arrow button switch DVR back on while still holding button and you should see your monitor start THIS is for a VGA monitor if you are using comp out to a tv do the same but with the left arrow button.

Cloning MAC address for little downtime
tomcctv replied to Electryko's topic in Computers/Networking
this still would not help you at all (have a think ) if you have to use NVRs that work this way. then its much better for you and your customer if you had a spare camera and licence in stock you camera distributor should help you with at least 1 free temp licence just for these problems. -

can you take a picture of the dip switches on the PTZ head. sw2 No 6 also needs to be switched off -
So enlighten us...what is your definition of "really nice IP megapixel cameras"? Enlighten us on a 4 way analog system worth $8 grand. which cameras did you use ???
-
can you list type of power supplies you are using volts and amps. also your amazon lead kit may not be up to the job of getting amps to your camera. there is only 2 ways to get good images from cable 1 is coax the other is cat5 with baluns.
-
just crap. thought we were talking about IR into a babies eye. another test you can do. is set a IR camera up switch off the lights and look into the ir. you may last 5 to 10 mins either way your eyes will hurt.
-
Why are analog systems still considered for new setups? A<D
tomcctv replied to eikido's topic in System Design
How do u compare ? plz explain just cost wise on 1mp its just not worth the extra costs. -
no you never put ir in a babies room ...... camera and night light is best. or seperate camera and IR fitted at floor level ....... but never into a babies eyes.

Designing system for my home. ( Looking for help etc... )
tomcctv replied to Firefighter's topic in System Design
hi. they are not files for a dahua. can you just do a little test. re-format your memory pen (if you have nothing on it you need) and then do a fresh burn off from your dvr .... also take footage from yesterday and not from when you have inserted pen drive. and see if you get a better result. -

tomcctv replied to eikido's topic in System Design
no problems with using analog but i would say you cant compare 1mp with some of the analogs out today. if going above 1.3mp then yes go IP but it all depends on the area you are covering and your budget . going analog with the new dual core dahua will give you just the same as a 1mp ip system. -
have you used the lead kits that came with the system ???? also are you running the CNBs of the power supplies that came with the KIT.

Adapting older Samsung to newer Samsung
tomcctv replied to HighOrder1's topic in General Digital Discussion
give him a screwdriver and tell him to get on with it. lots of people come to the forum with the same idea. now if you look at the DVR spec it tells you max power output. 2 of the cameras you have listed are above that. so even at that point you cant add all 8 cameras (6 is max) its the same for extending the cables on these systems it does not work (the longer the cable the more power you need) now also for that DVR you can buy add on addaptors but they are $59 each. (how much is a 8 way dahua) a good way to look at that is...... when you go to a customer do the work at the end of the day you get paid. what you dont want is go to customer do work pop DVR and then YOU having to pay them for the damage. so look at amps of each camera look at total for DVR which is your first problem because the secondhand cameras you have listed as extra cameras takes you ove the total of DVR. and before you start anything get your customer to sign off who pays for damage -
Hi. hey_moe. it looks like your only problem is focus. all 3 cameras look like they just need some tweeking

Adapting older Samsung to newer Samsung
tomcctv replied to HighOrder1's topic in General Digital Discussion
+1 the other problem is you are doing this for a customer. the samsung has camera power also built in if you make just 1 bad guess at the connection type you will pop there DVR. it is much easier to convert the samsung cameras to BNC than it is to add them to a RJ system. -
