FOR THE LOVE OF GOD PLEASE SOMEONE HELP
tomcctv replied to ivorbiggun's topic in Computers/Networking
Hi. your dvr is a avtech from 2007 so you will have some problems that you will need to fix first. we have 2 engineers is ashton (5 mile from you) but we do not do firmware updates on avtech DVRs. its 50/50 with them if it works or not. so we leave that to the customer to do. soundy is right router is best if viewing over internet is your target. your avtech has as default standard a IP address of 192.168.1.10 so you could try that first. just plug your dvr in the router and then your pc and enter the IP as http://192.168.1.10 and see if it connects. this is were you may need firmware if you are on vista .. what make router do you have and who is your ISP. Outdoor CAT5 recommendations ?
tomcctv replied to jtetterton's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
+1 cat5 has now got the same rules as a dvr DONT buy unbranded brown or white box with no maker on it. IT company was installing fire detection at a location we were at ... 2 days they spent looking for a problem on two beams even to the point they brought in the beam company. we have a machine called a cable grabber so we pluged there cable in and it said 29ft 3 inch pair blue (thats how far from machine to break) splice in 6 inches and it was done. cause. installers laid cable out along floor and to get it straight the guy whipped the cable to get it straight -
Point of sale integration on the G4-XLA & the HD series dvr
tomcctv replied to CSCOUT2001's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. you have a dahua. it has a good compatable list on the unit but if your register is not there then you cant go direct rs or tcp. you will need a pos box before the dvr. -
qvis is direct data so there is no termination on dvr. daisey chain is a method used a long time ago and is not needed in the industry now not with data being over cat5. 1 cat5 will run 4 PTZ data if they are all in the same area and just with that 1 cable run its also called star. daisy chain ... if something happends at a camera pulled off wall or wire cut .... will also disable the other PTZs no data no control. also if you do star. you can use any PTZ camera you like you cant with daisy chain. you have to run video to each camera so its not a problem to run data as well

Are there any 1 megapixel systems?
tomcctv replied to lisar's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
you might just do your budget (trade) with some axis or vivotek. but then you have the cost of a PC. if you are looking to get better images than what you have now ..... you can still use a analog system. your samsung is very basic with poor cameras -
+1 use the detection software. list the ip of each camera then manual insert that into the utility. also on some gantz and i have seen it on others the subnet is 255.255.255.255 you will need to change it to 255.255.255.0

SDM thanks for the link. not contacted them i will do to see price. we have been using these for a few years. http://www.altron.co.uk/ornate_poles_view.html but we are starting to think about having are own made or import as products like this in the uk are getting expensive. a company in virginia can ship to here cheaper small family buisness .. which is another option -
Up date on Pendant dome for my Toshiba
tomcctv replied to myplace46's topic in General Digital Discussion
nice and neat job John. like the idea of turning it into a mail box ......... make a good living selling your pole on ebay. we have a big job in a week or so in manchester 32 ptz cameras and a pole not far of yours is £700 is needed for each camera. ( how much to ship to UK) -
crow. to save you time up and down a ladder star is a direct control you have 3 methods of wirering for PTZs Daisy chain - star - and combination daisy chain needs termination star all can be left alone or terminate all (but not needed as its the only camera on the line) combination is the same as star but you can have multple cameras on each and in that case you only terminate the last camera on each line

yes admin admin is only via network. you cant use it on the dvr. username 888888 password 888888 direct from DVR for admin rights and 666666 for normal user.

MY IR CAMERAS AND HOUSING DON'T MIX... Any Suggestions?
tomcctv replied to Seonchoi's topic in Security Cameras
hi. your camera as is will have heat in its own housing (natural heat from camera) you may be doing something that you dont need to do. -
Using a star pattern for the wiring means each PTZ has its own cable running back to the the DVR or controller and no termination of last PTZ is needed. star is best if you run data to each it gives a little better security
-
First thing Q-see tech should have told you is admin admin is ONLY via network ..... from the unit it is username 888888 and password is 888888 if you have changed your passwords (local) then you can alter if you go in via network with admin admin

yes we use a universal OSD controller. but the camera has to be supported either via coax or rs485 not all EFFIO support it

fixing cameras to corrugated sheet building?
tomcctv replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i would mount wood or plastic first then fix the camera to that, -
if your effio supports OSD. then you can buy a controller that plugs in at DVR end. around $14

maplins sell the boards. but not much less than a new dvr. you will have to post a picture of your dvr. (sentient) is maplins dvr name. you could have a re badged CNM / swann or avtech -
3 part. are the most common in the uk. and yes there is also a lot of people selling the 2 part which are junk. 20p a BNC

WHY its a web cam.
-
it looks like you have two H/drives. 1 will be your drive for the pc and the other for dvr. (the one for pc should not be in the system folder.) come out of DVR then go to computer and see which is the main H/D letter . then restart DVR back to system and delete that drive
