what's the future of DVR cards and software
tomcctv replied to anniegmail's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
hybrid systems still use them so will still be around for a long time -
this is from monitor out from the dvr. and it does not have mouse control look at slingbox forget KVM
-
then its not a kvm you need. your dvr comes with remote viewer (via disk) you can use that.
-
listen its much easier to answer the questions. it gives people a fighting chance to help you. forget about your KVM for now. are you looking at controlling your mouse local (as in your home) or away from your home (over the internet)
-
what make is your dvr........ are you talking about using your mouse and monitor away from your dvr but at the same location. or are you looking to move the mouse over the internet at another location ???

Thought about starting a company selling Security cameras/eq
tomcctv replied to Firefighter's topic in General Digital Discussion
with that sort of profit can and will leed to problems. for you to make the kit for $400 it is going to be very basic low quality. your prifit can go quick. 1, your customer is not happy so returns. you then have a secondhand unit which costs you $400 you need good quality equipment. you dont want returns and you dont want equipment to fail befor the warranty is out. selling is hard a lot of money to buy in the first stock. unless you can buy from the likes of CNB direct where you get 5 years warrany (and you only need to pass 2 years of that to your customer) then it is going to be hard. your a Firefighter use your skills along side cctv i will pm you a idea (you could be selling by monday) see what you think. -
cctv cable instalation, whats the best way to run the cables
tomcctv replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
without seeing the layout. hard to say. but you always spend time planning your cable runs. does the house have a basement ??? cables down the outside need so sort of protection ..... we have used dummy drain pipes before now. but i would also look at using cat5 you will only need 1 for 4 cameras or 2 for 8 cameras and use 4 or 8 way baluns in the roof space. -
Looking for another camera, but I can't even find the specs.
tomcctv replied to SecurityNub's topic in Security Cameras
the Gadspot will not do what you need not at 60ft it has a 6 - 9mm lens the Gadspot spec reads >>>> • Capture images from vehicles traveling at speeds up to 30 mph (50 kph) 90% of cameras can capture images of a car at that speed ..... it says nothing about licence plates. New CNB XGB-20CS/XGB-21CS or the Qvis p400 or huviron p700 are camera that will have no problem. -
do you already have a dvr or are you looking for both ??? gjd sensors and also optex / redwall are reliable

Ground Looping/Interference?
tomcctv replied to BangersAndMash's topic in General Digital Discussion
can you list your cameras and also power supply used and what amp. but you also have a problem with the cables ...... they are not coax so this will not help. if you dont want to change cables then i would cut off each BNC and attach a cctv balun -
Any recommendations for the CNB dealer here in the USA? hi. unlike here in the uk we only have 1 or 2 US has lots. but buy from a good CNB distributor. i would drop soundy a pm he will know which are good.

VCM-24VF. No manual. How to change settings?
tomcctv replied to Secerator's topic in Security Cameras
i would also send it back at least send the pictures as it is scratches and all. but if you are going to test it. go to menu toggle switch in head hold down for 5 seconds then move to factory reset. and test it in that setting. -
Dont know where/who told you that Bud but its way out, 3 phase no problem i've been plenty farm installs with 3 phase present in North Also your going to need to get all the electrical work signed off involving the relays and modifications you have made to lighting circuits etc, you cant carry out Commercial works without this " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> at last someone else on here who knows the UK regs.

Sifting thru the chinese makes on ebay is tough help
tomcctv replied to bass1176's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi. the problem with ebay is everyone wants to sell there equipment. but you have to learn what to look out for. there is no way you will get a budget DVR @ D1 30fps.. so what do you look at in the spec 30fps is the key fps also stands for FIELDS per second. which is the same as IPS and you see this on cheap systems field and images you need 2 to make a frame so your ebay dvr is only 15fps. now thats just the first problem ebay sellers will only tell you the viewing res i.e D1 @ 30fps that is just watching your monitor they dont list the recording res which could be just Cif. the other problem is they never tell you if it is across all channels or just the first. giving you 1 at D1 the rest at Cif ...... so your paying $400 for cheap crap no warranty. all the above and another BIG problem is getting your footage off in a good format. then with some you need software to view (thats stone age) -

Sifting thru the chinese makes on ebay is tough help
tomcctv replied to bass1176's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi. bass1176. first is you dont need anything like 30fps max you need is 15fps and you cant see much differance if you go 7fps. you can take the chance with ebay if you you are looking for a very cheap system. but things to look out for are cost of a H/drive (not all have them) then if you dont want support or a place to return it if it only lasts a week if you have a low budget why not go for a used system (brand name) take a look at this site.
