Nice little IP cam boxes on ebay
tomcctv replied to MaxIcon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
MaxIcon. sorry i just have to point a few things out. people on the forum may think they are getting a good NVR for that price. first off like the site says no returns. the other (info from samsung) once the licence has ran out the NVR becomes useless. it is an embeded system to run these as a pc you would also need to buy and load a operating system. come august 2012 all you will have is a Dead NVR with no support. -
i think for large installs like hotels cat 5 . as for the genie cameras. by the time the op as ordered them from the uk they will cost him $280 each. the CNB is a much better camera and cheaper.

Apollo lite 8 dvr network setup questions
tomcctv replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi. it will be the DVR address. but you will have big problems if you change the router. you will stop there network. the router you have is ok. i just think you are looking to hard at the setup. in your router you only need to go into services and click add call it cctv then add the ports then direct them all to your dvr ip .... and that all you need -
you will waste your money. you can have gold plated drive fitted if you want. it still will not help. (you need the software ) also look at your unit. No dvd no usb == you cant load software. so you need the RS232 coms connector and that is not cheap. cost for yours well you can buy 2 dauha dvrs (new)

one 64 unit is never a good thing you will not get it to work and be reliable there is only a very few 64 ways on the market use two 32 ways. you may be best looking at a hybrid. this will cut down the amount of cameras you will need (if you have a few in the same area) also look at storage costs as of yesterday sata drives have gone up another 8%. and will be going up again.

if you have to chance to return then i would do that. it could be a number of things the main problem with them is the power supply. they have duel output 12-9 and also 5v all of which must be working. if not its a new power supply and thats £60 to £90, and then you have the problem of software (its on the harddrive) if you fix the power and then find HD is empty then thats another cost

Apollo lite 8 dvr network setup questions
tomcctv replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
that seams odd. if you ping the dvr ip then change the last few digits then its not the dvr ip. again with routers and remote viewing ... you are best getting everything working first. dont use the PSS just call up the activex first. talk talk (carphonewarehouse) or talk talk tiscale) will block port 80. so you need to alter on both your dvr and router port 80 to port 88. then just use http://your external ip :88 this is away from the dvr network. just input it into your browser and not the software. hold off on changing the router. unless you know the talktalk passwords and settings. -

Apollo lite 8 dvr network setup questions
tomcctv replied to crow's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi crow. setting up remote viewing is simple on anything. what people have problems with is static / dynamic/ ddns service the key is to forget about all the above the idea is to get it all working first then look at ddns or static once everything is working what make is your router and who is your ISP. your external ip is found just by clicking on this link ... http://whatismyipaddress.com/ -

tomcctv replied to ufoblue's topic in Computers/Networking
as we never put port 8080 then no. you should only have ports 80/3357/3358 open from local (your home network) you would only need http://192.168.1.260 away from your network you need to find you external ip just click on this link. that is your external ip http://whatismyipaddress.com/ and away from your home network you will enter http:// your external ip :3358 -

tomcctv replied to ufoblue's topic in Computers/Networking
hi. under network on your dvr. the ip should already be there if your dvr is connected to your router. if not you can add your self an ip. on dvr>>>>> use these. ip 192.168.1.260 subnet 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.254 and you dont need anything in the DDNS fields just leave blank. -
IP System suggestions
tomcctv replied to seancctv's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
the problem is wireless. the loacation you are installing has power is this on the same power as your house i.e same ring ??? you may want to look into the netgear network over power plugs. this will allow you to have a better camera. -
no with a foscam. (the picture you have posted is better than a foscam) from your window to your car you are looking at a 50-75mm lens if you want to get detail like a face shot. you may be better using a camcorder

First. Log into your router. Then click on settings. This will then bring up your password screen. Enter your password then click ok. Then you will see options at top of your screen (you will also see portforwarding) DO NOT CLICK ON IT. Click on advanced settings. You will get another window and on the screen you will see continue to advanced settings click on it. Now you will get another screen and at the top you will see portforwarding, click on that and then just below that you will see Supported Applications click on that and you will see another new window. these are the actual ports you need to enter Click on add new game application and this is were you need to put your ports. And rule name. Game/application name: call it cctv Copy an existing game/application: click the no box Protocol pick TCP Port Range 3357 – 3357 then leave the rest blank then click add and start at top of page again this time call it cctv 2 Game/application name cctv2 Copy an existing game/application: click the no box Protocol pick TCP Port Range 3358 – 3358 then leave the rest blank then click add and start at top of page again this time call it cctv 3 Game/application name: call it cctv3 Copy an existing game/application: click the no box Protocol pick TCP Port Range 80 – 80 then leave the rest blank Then click add and then apply. On the same page at the top you will see configuration click it and you will see, Game or Application: click on the drop down and look for your rules cctv cctv2 cctv3 only click 1 then go to the other drop down. Device: And the bottom one will say user defined ip address in the box enter the ip address of your dvr then click add do this for all your rules i.e cctv-cctv2-cctv3 and then click apply And you are all done. Log out from your router -

with a bt fusion its a bit of a mine field. it will take a while for me to type instructions. so i will do it on word first then post them for you. but what you have to understand is static ip ddns and all that has nothing to do with how you set your router so its best to put that out of your mind. even if you see it in your dvr settings just leave them blank. all as you need to do is go into dvr setting > network > and if connected to your router you will see a IP example 192.168.1 .xxx you just need to right this ip down. and that is all you need to do with your dvr. -

hi. to make things easy. forget about a DDNS service for now get everything working first. are you using a netgear router ?? no dont enter this back into ports. all you need is the ip address of your dvr. i.e 192.168.0.3 (example) if you are using netgear just click on attached devices and you will see it. subnet 255.255.255.0 and your gateway is 192.168.0.1 (if a netgear) -
Nice little IP cam boxes on ebay
tomcctv replied to MaxIcon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
sorry what i ment was take the cost of the H/drive off the price of the full unit. (as it comes with H/D) then it looks cheap. it only keeps people away that do there homework. problems ... it runs on licence that runs out august 2012. renewal cost $480. i asked what cameras it supports but they have not answered that in there email . yes that system used to sell for $3000 (well that was the asking price) dont think they sold many as they went bust. look up GVI Security so my judgement is this >>>> even if you get past the licence problem. i.e use another software. most now require a good graphics card to run. you cant add one to that unit. -
please dont buy a foscam from ebay ...... foscam DO NOT SELL ON EBAY. you are only paying £2 less than if you buy from foscam uk. you do not have any warranty if you dont have the electronic invoice which will have your warranty code on. ebay problems and things to look out for >>> foscam print there name on the boxes (ebay one dont) ebay has missing parts >>> foscam have quality control. foscam will work with 3rd party software>>>>> ebay only works with the clone software. if you feel that an extra £2 is to much to spend on a camera with support then you cant afford a camera. this is the actual warning from foscam uk. When you purchase directly from Foscam.co.uk you are not only purchasing a camera, but also the value-added services of same-day shipping from our London based warehouse, complete after-sales technical support as well as our UK based replacement warranty and return services. Foscam.co.uk does not provide support or warranties on behalf of any Foscam cameras purchased directly from China and sold on Amazon, Ebay, or other through other resellers. Guarantee We guarantee that your Foscam wireless camera will be 100% functional or we will issue you an immediate replacement. In addition, the camera is covered by a 1 year manufacturer's warranty which will be honored by us through our warehouse in London. Our return policy is 14 days. All returns are subject to a 15% restocking fee and buyer pays return shipping.
