  1. The OS in the NVR has to run on something...... i suppose it does So, if I have a 250gig hard drive in the dvr the os would run on that and then it would allow me to choose to record to a separate nas? yes you can either Auto Backup. dump files everyday or week or month or Mirror Recording options
  2. if you are talking about the avr. the NV or sa are a little better than the nano 4 . just because a few more little functions the nv/sa have. the nano is a good little hybrid and reliable and half the cost of a 5000 card. all avers now use the same software so patches and firmware are the same for everything. if you need more than 8 cameras i would not go for the nano 16 its new and has a few problems so if you need 16 look at the eh6000

    Authorized vs UNAuthorized resellers

it all depends on your business. DIYer then not a problem its your money. if you are a install company 10 / 40 cameras a day then autherized is the only way to go. you dont want to be six months down the line and cameras giving up. its your company cost to then put it right. the first 12 months is protection for any install.

we have these in stock very good baluns. very good at protecting the outter cover of the cat5 better than just the pair. but just looking at your advert listings. its just a company that sells and know nothing PART 4 4. NTSC,PAL,and SECAM video formats nothing to do with using baluns
  6. hi then i think its the box that you need. communication via rs232 or network. E-I/O Box supporting 16 sensors in/ relays out is one accessory that provides a big advantage to users. The service provided by E-I/O box includes supporting 3 kinds of interface to connect to AVerDiGi NV/ SA DVR and expanding up to 128 sensors in/ relays out. This E-I/O Box is easy to use and allows us to identify sensor/ relay status via LED light. but they do sell well so its finding a distributor that will have stock.

...one for you physical security experts

Hi can you post a picture of the size of the unit. ?? also another good idea would be to add a tracker to each unit. there not expensive now and it will allow you to track if stolen or moved via google maps you could even add a shock sensor and you will also know if the unit is being vandalized via the tracker unit alarm
  8. yes aver does both i/o cards and i/o box. how many connections are you looking for

no wonder your clients want to use IP video, after using those $5 analogue baluns you sell them Rory it all started out as a good post as and why baluns are used. now the post has just turned into a load of rubbish. if your happy spending $19 then your happy if you want to make more profit shop around USA i have checked i can buy baluns at 85 cents google is a good friend. well again rory that depends on the balun 1 cat5 2 cameras with power and data and audio. just to help you out a little 2 cameras and data and audio are down 1 pair the power down the rest.

no rory but 2/3 or 4 cameras in the same location will need 4 runs of coax cat5 1 run. am just saying you cant count run for run against cat5. so the maths is not right

love it when people start doing costs. coax or cat5 cat5 is the cheapest ALL the time. no point in saying 4 cam system coax cost this or in cat5 costs this. as you are not using the same amount of cat5 as coax so coax is 400 cat5 could just be 200 or if the cameras are in or around the same location its just 100

    CCTV Project

for cat5 to each camera then you just need 2 of these one on camera and the other dvr. you can only use 1 Pair of your cat5 so the other pairs you use for power for the camera. same for your PTZ except 1 pair for video and 1 pair for PTZ data

Whether a balun is "active" has nothing to do with powering the camera or housing - it just means the balun uses active (powered) circuitry rather than a simple balancing transformer. and you say your cables are already run. so if you need power and data them more cable is needed. but it is always best to power camera from camera end on long runs. so even with just the 1 cat5 you have you can have 4 cameras and on local power if you need data (for ptz) you can run that along with your video over the 1 single cat5

Low light for bar CNB - what do you use?

D2867NVF is a good camera for your needs we use them in nightclubs if you cant get them then DJL-10S/DJL-11S are the same. dont use IR in this type of install.

Low light for bar CNB - what do you use?

would this work on a analog system ???
  19. hi. any key fob transmitter for the elderly will do if it has a alarm output.
  20. ok ill put it another way for you. your dvr manufacturer on making the software will also ADD activex (which is a licence to your dvr manufacturer. it there its done it in the software. now unles you have (which you cant) taken the software off your dvr removed the active x part and the reloaded it then yes you will have a problem. (you cant reload active x back on) you will have to run the dvr software YOU CANT INSTALL PARTS you could also have another problem (again you dont do anything with your dvr) is your active x is out of date and has no support. your way around this is the pc you are trying to connect with you may need to change the time and date on it to say feb 2010 then try and call the active x from your dvr once loaded change your time back. the other simple mistake is your DVR is port dependant you may need a port number to talk with your dvr other than 80.
  21. hi it all depends on how you sell the product sell as monitoring and not life saving. the fob is just a remote signal back to the camera alarm input. with net work anything can go down so liability is always around ... so it how you sell and document your product.
  22. you may have problems if using a DVR. no point in recording in this situation. we have and still supply IP cameras (budget avtech) and we make a wireless fob to which the elderly person wears all the time. any problems they press fob and images with audio are sent to email of mobile.
  23. aver does. you need to look at DVRs with java http://remote.aver.com/mobile/
  24. its just down to how you plan a system. nothing wrong with using coax I.E if you just have 4 cameras and your wirering is like spider (this way that way) then coax or cat5 can be used coax is cheaper as your only cost is BNC but if you have cameras all located down far end of a building cat5 is better no need to run 4 coax so you save costs and you also save costs in install time. cat5 is also future prof. later change from analog to ip ..... and it also gives you more scop if you want to add audio or data
  25. cat5/ alarm cable or bell wire are balanced cables use of a balun will unbalance so yes will work. baluns had not been invented then (thats the only reason) coax was and is still needed but made the way it is to stop cross talk between center pin and sheild. any signal down coax has voltage (not camera power) this is unbalanced signal cat5 is the same but balanced cable (the voltage being the signal) this is why if you dont use baluns at each end you infact have a dirty signal lines on screen. adding baluns unbalance the signal
