Suitable PTZ system for Warehouse targeted during UK riots
tomcctv replied to abska's topic in System Design
but you are doing the same thing ...... spending £800 on a system only worth £2-300. the DVR is only £79...... you do know its only cif -
+1 your right its a pointless post and this one should be deleted

no... list them. you still do not understand. who are you going to use to install your system. Canada is not in the EU..... buy an xbox from currys / bestbuy or pc world and yes your covered as they are uk distributors i can put you in touch with two avigilon installers ( they are avigilon employed not partners) but i dont think i will get a christmas card from them next year if i did. the problem you dont understand (which is why you think you are getting ripped off) avigilon is the rolls royce of IP top of the market the price is not hight its that price simple. its like you with your ferrari DID you pay FORD Escort money for it .......... NO why it does the same thing except its quicker built better. chesterfield 16 avigilon cameras to your home is not going to happen for 8k like has been said in your other posts look at axis or mobotix you will get a lot for your money
-
i dont think you understand UK has no retailers distributors for avigilon. only because you asked about avigilon. you were given other options importing is not covered by yourself. untrainned installer wipes that. ..... (your not buying a fridge) and your not buying from the uk. how with not being a avigilon partner.

Dave will have replied to your email by now. it will be along the lines of we do not supply to end users or trained installers. they will not deal with you direct. looking though your posts it sounds as if you are looking to buy the equipment yourself and find an installer to fit it for you.... that in is self is a problem. Havent' emailed Dave, Im asking for quotes from those that do sell the equipmet. As I say, it will be inetersting to see how far adrift from the MSRP the prices are from the installers. Then we will see the real reason for keeping the prices apparently hidden from the end consumer... dave is avigilon uk. no point in you contacting canada. say you do get a avigilon camera at there MSRP how are YOU going to keep the software upto date how are YOU going to get the warranty (as avigilon will not discuse it with you) were do YOU send a faulty camera back too. to be honest this post is just getting to be a waste of time you are looking at something you cant do anyway that is why avigilon are the world leaders in there products. they get it right first time everytime.

IPCamera system on a POS station the way to go?
tomcctv replied to Integraoligist's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
so your just using a PC as a register then i would not class this as a POS system if it has no scanners. its just a till (manual input of price) another problem geo softeare is not touch screen comp so you will need to log out of windows then open the geo via mouse. if this is a store you need the cctv screen up all the time. you can get dedicated software for what you need but adding your own geo card is using two softwares which is not a good idea -

IPCamera system on a POS station the way to go?
tomcctv replied to Integraoligist's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
your PC at office is to run and collect register info .... dont know how many registers you have. just the same as you would not use your POS pc to play on internet. running your registers and looking at putting in a geo card (which will in its self will use 90%of your cpu) will give you problems in your POS system as well as your CCTV. keep them apart ........ its never a good idea to use your cctv system (pc) for anything else -
Hi. if this is your first system i would say change the type of baluns you will be using .... you will need network tools to wire those type of baluns plus you are going to be over 100m so a power change from 12 to 24v may be neeeded these are much cheaper and easier to use. and you can use the existing pairs of your cat5 to run bigger power. if your going 100m

IPCamera system on a POS station the way to go?
tomcctv replied to Integraoligist's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
using your POS system as CCTV is not a good idea. (you back office unit) -
hi. any will do but it is never a good idea to double up it will give you problems
-
hi. the lights also flash when set at alarm mode. looking at your video. i would say that you have a problem with your VCR and not the DVR as it keeps flashing the colour bars (you would not get this from that DVR) i would remove your VCR and connect your DVR straight to your monitor

Suitable PTZ system for Warehouse targeted during UK riots
tomcctv replied to abska's topic in System Design
Hi 1 thing this forum is going to do for you is save you money. the system you have listed is junk NO POINT BUYING a system you cant use in a UK court. just take another look at the site you have listed and price everything .................. the cheap junk dvr is ONLY £79 for an 8 way the whole system is worth about £200 at most thats the second time you have posted that site in 3 months (there crap does not get better with age) and nothing will pass DPA regs if you are a store/shop. for a budget of £900 you can buy a aver system of a dahua system (systems that work) -
Hi Sean we use usb to rs232 for POS and we found it is always best to use a software based rs232. this then allows you to open and keep a com port. which is ideal for adding POS or PTZ via usb. we have been using moxa if you can wait 5 to 6 days i will send you one free to try.

Help with design of brand new system.
tomcctv replied to chesterfield's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi. if this is the company (in chesterfield) then they are toys compaired to avigilon .... most is just avtech re-branded. no ip or hybrid. you cant compaire prices from them against pro stuff. you must have a budget. i see you have looked at geovision ....... now look at there price if you dont use geo ip cameras .... licence costs for 16 is £1100. with the aver yes that is right .... i would not use anything less than 1.3mp going for 1mp then you are best just using analog in them areas. to look after your cars 3 or 5 mp and around house 2 or 3 mp ... axis is a good camera. -
Help with design of brand new system.
tomcctv replied to chesterfield's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi you can use cat5 with any system. the reason why i say a hybrid were as a home does not need the full extent of mp ip. like you dont need to spend the extra to view a door way but your front and back yards will stand good 3mp cameras. but it all depends on your budget. a hybrid will allow you to use most IP with no licence costs upto a total of 45mp and standard cameras -
Help with design of brand new system.
tomcctv replied to chesterfield's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi for avigilon uk you will need to start your budget at £8k for 16 cameras. avigilon is not over priced its that saying.... you get what you pay for not only in products but also support. but like i said hybrid is best suited to your needs. MP cameras and analog -
Need advice going from DVR BNC Out to HDTV 100 ft away
tomcctv replied to kkevin2004's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi. you should be ok with cat5 from your dvr to tv then a balun at each end. but you will also need a RCA to BNC at your tv end. -
Hi as well as portforwarding you then need to go to firewall settings and you will see all the ports you have created and a click button which you have to click to allow.
-
hi these are for internal use only and not rated for outdoor use. another problem would be the dome as they are for internal the dome is not UV rated so in time it will turn yellow. both of these CNB are vandal indoor only.

Help with design of brand new system.
tomcctv replied to chesterfield's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. chesterfield. 16 mp cameras may be a bit much for home use. if you have the budget but you dont need to go to that extent. hybrid units are ideal for home protection having a mix of IP and analog. also with using MP ip you may not need as many cameras as you think. can you post a layout of the area you want to protect ?? this is known as smart record fps stays the same but quality changes (which saves HD space) but make shure it has a good pre and post. -
Which UTP cable CCA or annealed Cu?
tomcctv replied to Numb-nuts's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
this will be crap from china and may also be the wrong size. £50 ok its not trade price but if you look at it per meter 16p or 9 cents then it is a very good price if its 18swa. going from rg59 to cat5 saves money RG59 £25 for 100m cat5 £50 for 300m .... like for like in cat5 (100m) is only £16. no point in looking for cheaper cable
