westom we have gone way off base from the ops question. first he is not on ethernet we are not talking about network for a dvr / cameras / monitor / router by the time he has paid and installed equipment to protect it. and then not even now if lightning will still not take it out ....... he may as well just wait and see if he gets a direct hit in his life time. and if he does it will of been cheaper to replace the dvr than what it was to try and protect. oh no whats going to happen to the 60inch tv

NAS Recommendation as a surveillance platform
tomcctv replied to matusiam's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi. none pc based will also support hundreds and add. this all depends on what system you are using ... if it uses the same software for its analog / hybrid / nvr or vms then everything can be pulled to 1 screen 1 software. it just all depends how much development makers put into there systems to talk to each platform -

What Would You Say to This Guy? (Blah blah blah part 2)
tomcctv replied to rory's topic in Test Bench
sure ok find a worthwhile firmware update for a crappy IP camera LOL you missed the point though, technology changes every day, so that IP camera, firmware or not, could be outdated the next day. With "analog" camera, as long as there is something with BNC connectors, its going nowhere, and it has proven that for a number of decades now rory you are right technology does change everyday. and you like 1000s of other engineers have moved with that technology. 1 example i hope you dont sell to your customers a full good D1 dvr and then install 320tvl cameras. you have moved with technology just by going low tvl to your 520 CMBs now we just need you to catch up and go MP ...... it wont hurt you ....... it doesent hurt at all honest you wont feel a thing -

So you are saying you cant update the firmware on a DVR .. i can show you how if you like. rory you said IP camera. its ok i know how to update a dvr..... but just leave you with this note updating a dvr still does nothing for updating a analog camera. take it out of the box screw it up thats it -

a crappy overpriced ip camera is outdated the same week you buy it, technology changes every day ... hmm sorry rory i have to say no to that one.......... unlike analog you can update ip via firmware or software you get what you get with analog -
Encoder VP 16 Resolution problem
tomcctv replied to sigmaalpha's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
hi do you have both options 4cif and D1 ???? it is unusual if you have. are you running your setup along with vms/nvr software ?? and also remember your image is still only as good as your cameras -
you are on the right track. when you have done that then you need to go into firwall rules tick the service you had just created and click allow ... remember to press accept at the bottom of the page then log out.

mmmmmmmm weston your old science does not help with new science .... like i said in the post it depends on if you are on old grid or new grid. in old its >>> transformer then home no protection. new transformer then sub then home full protection
-
like i said old or new only if on OLD overhead wire like you have in the usa. but new builds overhead THEN substation and underground to home. then no strike stops at sub so protected

NAS Recommendation as a surveillance platform
tomcctv replied to matusiam's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
sorry MaxIcon yes if your talking of the new t cards. its 5 mp each have a go at these settings (not in manual) go system then alarms ........ you will see alrms on right hand side of page and options on the left if you creat an alarm first ... just call it test the in the options on the left instead of left mouse click ... right mouse click and you will see the hidden options in one it will let you take a screen shot from one of your cameras and it gives you more recording options like sene change (ideal for finding shoplifters) people counting (in and out) -

Digi NV5000 is the avermedia which is the budget side of hybrid still 1 cannel at 5mp and 3 at 1.3mp the problem with the NV or SA 3000-5000-6000 if you are not shown the feature you dont know it has them (not listed in manual. such as face finder. left objects or sene change -
hi helen. yes recording your car is fine (you are watching something that belongs to you) as far as boundary try and have 80% of the image on your side this will cover you for not being classed as spying on them. two things you can do to cover yourself. once your system is setup just make a copy of your footage and give it to your local crime officer showing what you intend recording. then if he complains about you recording on his boundary. you can tell him to request a copy of your footage from the crime officer. keeping your system legal is better for you. and dont put up any cctv signs. having bad neighbours is never a good thing. do you know if the neighbour is renting / council house or bought
-
were are you based. and another factor on these systems is how big are they 8 16 or 150 cameras. a few people on here have the software you might have to pay as it does not go out to 3rd party.
-
No. that depends on old or new electrical grid
-
Hi john lets get back to your PTZ how have you got on with finding a encloser for your camera ?? ptz are good wait till you start to learn alarm and sensor trigger they get even better and are good for home use.
-
hi paul. both methods are old and both have there problems. as far as ungrading cameras to be honest you will see no differance as these systems are old and are most CIF 320tvl no point in upgrading to anything above that. then you have power problems most of the old din plug systems were 7.5 or 9v as far as a pin out diagrame there are so many each have there own (so you had to buy there cameras)
-
hi if your just looking for wireless you can just buy a $50 wireless netgear router and just use it as a hub.
-
Leslie. i think it is time admin removed your posts. i hope soundy or rory have spotted what you are doing 2 of the 3 images you have listed in past posts have more than just an image. all of your posts are copy past from sites that ended with a virus problem. your post above is from 3 years ago and has been posted over 400 times over the net on forums along with your images. i think you should be removed from the forum before you cause harm
-
sorry i thought that what you asked for the camera would be zoomed into the door every time motion is detected at the door no motion it zooms back out. or a bosh box will give you picture in picture 1 zoomed in the other out
-
with most box zoom cameras now you can have auto zoom set vis motion on camera which will be better. if you have it set via your alarm when set the rest of the room is not covered
-
