tomcctv replied to tsc757's topic in Digital Video Recorders
rory the steel has not been made for years over 5 ..... then you had the 1304 net now that stopped 3 years ago. then you had the 3004 and now the 3004 plus which now has also come to a stop. i dont know were you bought it from but its never been over $150. hell the nano hybrid is no were near $400 your still talking about a 7 year old unit you had. this is the old OS display. how can you say its crap ???? the nano is know even better geo are members of the forum and they dont even defend themselfs (that tells it all) i might get a reply from there support soon (i only sent it in march) -
Best DVR for security cameras. AverMedia or Digimerge?
tomcctv replied to tsc757's topic in Digital Video Recorders
rory your last avermedia was 1304 steel box ..... not been made for 7 years and that was there lowest budget dvr. brand new software all hybrid playback on mobile recording via mobile or ipad free updates free ip adding. lets take alook at geo. pay for ip / pay for POS pay for card verification (clone) not full mobile compatable. GV 600 30fps ONLY @ cif . 72% of cards for sale are clone plus the 600 is limited to motherboard chip. -
Hi. you can use the multi core that you have. you dont need cat5 using baluns. (seperate baluns) cat 5 Vs cat6 you will notice nothing

Best DVR for security cameras. AverMedia or Digimerge?
tomcctv replied to tsc757's topic in Digital Video Recorders
both have low specs infact the cheaper is better than the $485. as its best is only cif and on both you would need to add extra hard drive space. so add another $80. if you dont need play back on your android or ip later then the dahua is much better than Digimerge -
i think q-see will tell you that you have a problem with your dvr. if q-see says it is a feature then it is a stupid one that thay need to remove. just because of a power outtage the dvr stays off for a few days (good security)
-
Hi yes that is the nano there is a 16 way now for not much more. swann equipment is basic most of the time when you need footage it is not there. then problems with the player to play back footage. dahua is know as the apollo in the UK. good dvr if you get the latest models but again no record on android
-
Hi sounds like an old dvr that also needed a VCR to do the backup. you can either replace your unit or buy one of these just plug direct into VCR out on your DVR and plug via usb into windows or mac pc to do the backup. http://www.avermedia.eu/avertv/UK/Product/ProductDetail.aspx?Id=473&device=4

hi. at least you had redcare installed (5 mins was not bad reponse) please stay away from swann systems you are just wasting money. not many systems playback on android mobile but one that does is the aver nano and its hybrid. with you having redcare you can also have internal cameras trigger off and redcare will send you a message fia sms

then another 10 hrs for the discharged battery to charge up. but its all pointless if you have no camera power.

4 Camera one Cat 5 Cable and power any one Done? Issues?
tomcctv replied to AndyA's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
i think you might be doing more work than you need to do. just test the existing cat5 with a network tester. just because someone else put it in does not mean its bad. then power cameras local and use 4 way balun for images 1 at camera end other dvr end. -
hi. if you are handy with a soldering iron then it will cost you nothing. on the 6 pin com plug pin 4 is + and pin 5 is - for your dvr rs485 connection.

Hi 1304 has not been made for 3-4 years so it will be old stock and old software so iphone app will not control. the aver Nano 4 is a very good hybrid if you want to upgrade your cameras later. full iphone comp with playback and record from ipad / iphone -
how would you know this ???
-
Hi. should not be a problem. but its like everything. Maintenance keeps your system good. if its not used i would take it down (take camera out of housing) and make it part of your startup service maintenance. spending a little time is much cheaper than buying a replacement camera.
-
oh i see what you mean now. open new youth clubs then remove the cameras. your from manchester ??? did you see in your local paper 45 year old woman raped walking home all caught on cctv a local 58 year old scum guy . what has that got to do with getting kids off the streets.

is that not what they are doing. a service for the community.

Joining two dvrs together to use same rs485
tomcctv replied to typnar's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
that will just give you problems. what about end of line termination ??? just buy a roll of cat5 link camera A1 to A2 and A3 and drop the link from A3 to B1 and the data link to each dvr. job done. if getting cables to the camera is a problem then just ADD a controller if both DVRs are next to each other that may be your best way -
Photo enhancemant of taxi to find lost luggage?
tomcctv replied to spaht's topic in General Digital Discussion
like Campbell says not much you can do. you would have to post footage to see how bad it is. you could get other bits of info from your footage like window stickers and other info from the cab that may help you to identify the taxi then go back to were it picked you up. and you might see the cab (it will be the one with the well dressed bangkok man ) -
CCTV Regulations and/or standard??
