Upgrading to a Dahua hybrid dvr - See video of thieves
tomcctv replied to lowpro's topic in Digital Video Recorders
there site has been like this for over a month http://www.q-see.com/security-digital-video-recorder.htm Missing Page The Q-See website has been changed. Please use the search box to search for products or one of the menus to find the page you want. but at the end of the day an un true spec is no spec at all. many people come on the forum. .... i bought a system D1 24/7 28 days on 350gb H/D then ask why there footage is bad. and the truth is they are recording CIF to get that on 350gb H/D for D1 24/7 30 days you will need atleast 4tb -
So just the Cat5e wiring can supply BOTH power and video? What is a "baluns"? hi. with a 70 room hotel that will be long cable runs i would not think of using RG59. you are also going to be 3 phase power . using Cat5 is your best option. i would run 2 cat5 cables to each floor .. ... this gives you either 8 cameras or 4 camera and 4 audio or 6 cameras and 2 audio. most hotels now have what is called a dry rise. this is the area that all communication i.e phones/fire alarms pass though the hotel. i know with the likes of holiday inn and hiltons they also require that you follow that route. we use the CNB DBM-20VD/DBM-21VD for hall ways in hotels. which are well priced with 1 video balun on each floor.

Q-See QSD9004V-320 q-see in the last few months have taken the specs of each dvr off there site ..... WHY ? people need to know what they are buying. but even there specs are misleading from your dvr spec Record Frame Rate (Shared) (D1) 120 FPS, (CIF) 30 FPS Bull. -
hi. never a good idea to buy what is the heart of the system cheap. it will be poor quality and inturn give you very bad image quality.

Upgrading to a Dahua hybrid dvr - See video of thieves
tomcctv replied to lowpro's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Dahua are still doing alot of work on there hybrid. the problem at the moment is you can only use IP cortex cameras. the hybrid is 16 channel with another 4 (total 20 channel) for ip no switcher or extra router needed just plug in RJ45 for power and video. but its all down to budget. the Apollo HD PRO D1 16 channel dahua full D1comes in 4 / 8 / and 16 channel is also a good dvr. looking at your q-see are you recording in CIF ? as you cant get 24/7 D1 11 days on a 320gb hard drive. you will see a big differance in going Full D1 to what you have now with the cameras you already have. -
store closing, buying their running system
tomcctv replied to raztraders's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
the samsung cameras are still sold. your problem will be that they are internal cameras and are sold for $90 to be able to use them you will also be looking at buying housings and heaters. like birdman has said the DVR. you may have problems also with the H/drives and fans (they will need replacing at that age) another problem is you buy and find it is all locked with password. if you are moving up from a 4 way why not just buy a 8 way all new. its not going to cost you much more by the time you have bought all the secondhand equipment and then paid for all the housings and H/drive upgrades. and all the extras you are looking at $2.500 to $3000 and only end up with a CIF system -

hi.then yes you can use avers. if you just want basic dvr try the eb3004 or the seb units. or if you have a PC the NV3000 capture card is a good price.

Q-See QT428 8CH DVR consumer review (with pictures)
tomcctv replied to Toaster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi. i would take more time in picking a DVR. with a poor dvr it does not matter what camera you buy $20 to $300 the image will still be poor. i would take a look at the dahua range of DVRs and i would work on the price for a budget camera at no less than $50 each. -
Q-See QT428 8CH DVR consumer review (with pictures)
tomcctv replied to Toaster's topic in Digital Video Recorders
hi. jimbo120. box systems are never a good idea. and the wire kits always need replacing as do the power supplies (if you want to upgrade a camera) a good sign of a bad system .... (as like costco) $350 off list price. if you have a low budget. it is always best to build your system over time. -
yes it a slide bar under camer recording. most are set to 6fps from factory. but you also have what res the camera is recording in. and you will see this in the list of cameras across the top. some will be in blue some in red. on some of the SA32 they can go 25fps depends on which software it came with. also a tip..... on the 32 if you insert a mem pen and export settings to it .... this will save all camera names (saves retyping if a mistake is made)

Why aren't there any 1080P DVR's yet?
tomcctv replied to blackjackel's topic in General Digital Discussion
ak357. you are very right. there is alot more to look at other than pixel count on a dvr. you also need the amount of data in each pixel. (bitrate) -
Dedicated Micros Digital Sprite 2 Stuck in Initilizing Boot

you need to use the old H/drive that was in the DVR (it holds the O/S) and then add a second H/drive for extra storage. -

DVR Remote doesn't move cameras over iPhone...
tomcctv replied to rucanunes's topic in Computers/Networking
Im afraid to ask, but what is that? It's a DDNS. were are you based. you have had this problem for a long time. you seem to be going all directions. lunaeyes.dvrdns.org has nothing to do with your system it is just a demo site. you are best just getting your system on line before you even think about using a DDNS service. you should (to make things easy) just use your external ip (google myip) http:// your ip :port number -

Could you help me pick a camera?
tomcctv replied to Jeroen1000's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
just because they can. its just the arecon camera in a bosh housing. with the duel camera the sensor detects night time which switches on the 3mp camera. when the light falls to night the sensor switches off the 3mp camera and switches on the 1.3mp but you always get better footage from a light souce such as a pir light and with doing that it will only use the 3mp giving you better images day or night.
