    Help with License plate capture

20m or 60m with this camera ...... no problem.
  2. hi VCA would start to cost. some budget cameras will give sene changes or moved objects. like the link i sent you. plus it also has sound both ways. and email alert. if its just your area that you need to protect then 1.3mp will be fine for you. but getting it to your pc will give you a problem if your office has a full network inplace. you will need the help of your IT guys if you wish to view your camera away from the office or plug it into your company network to get passed the firewalls that could be in place.

    Terminating CAT5 with RJ45 plugs

using stranded cable is not the right way for ip cameras. and also in some codes of practice in network installs you can only use 10m of standed cat5 the only reason for stranded cat5 (patch lead) is the pulling in and out of inlet of constant moving of what ever you plug it into.

    Terminating CAT5 with RJ45 plugs

I got some of those from the home depot and the trick was not stripping the wire. Huge pain tho very hard to see, now I try to buy prefab there are a few places that sell Belden pretty cheap $3/50' at the end of the day he has the ends cable and crimps. does not matter about the cat5 stranded or not. the only TIP is practice makes perfect.
  8. city wide network ?? will it only be you using it.

    Terminating CAT5 with RJ45 plugs

in most cases you would already have the cable or like most keep good lenth from off cuts from installs. so apart from the ends it costs nothing.

Need help on a big project!

i think to ops first post tols us what he wanted. bringing alarms into it never came from the op. 8 camera system he asked advice on. alarm systems do have there place but 90% of them are just alert only at the end of the day they only confirm what you already know when you walk back into your burgled place. CCTV with an alarm system gives 100% at least you now have footage with something the police can work with.

The Family curse strikes again LOL

I have tested every single lement of the setup, every connnector every wire and connection and when it was sent away, they had the same faults I found. I must admit I thought there was something I had done to vreate the problems. Now I am fully confident that it is nothing I have done. I set up another brand of PTZ at the place where my instalation is and it worked perfectly first time. I had it operating all afternoon and it worked without question. I am now confident that all of these units were faulty, I am not sloppy with installation, quite the reverse. I had doubts about my DVR and my controller but now I am positive it is the FAMILY CURSE! I checked every wire and connection, today was a bench test and there was a completely new set of problems. If the fault were with my installation, the faults would be the same. It's take weeks to come to that conclusion but I always examine my work before considering other reasons for a fault. I am telling you its the Family Curse! hi i never said anything about your work i was only trying to help. not all ptz will work with differant rs232 or RS485 adaptors. ptz are if you look at them basic. coax for video power and data how are you connecting yours if you are using both you may need to add power to your data cable. (if you are using a converta i have 20 or so of your ptz up around manchester Xvision XSD27ZS (but not related to the xvision brand) the cameras did have a big batch probem about 8 months ago. the data ribbon from camera to boad in the cameras burnt out as soon as you add power

The Family curse strikes again LOL

it is best to check all though your set-up is it a controller or a RS485 connector. by asking then to test insert all your settings and it works there and as soon as you get it and re-install and it does not work again. they will void your warranty. how are you connecting to your dvr.???
  16. 20m yes that possable you may have problems with lighting. axis do some good price wireless.

seriously SLOW backup from averdigi mob1304

it is slow on downloading to usb alot of systems are if your doing days at a time. the mob has a fast download via Hard drive caddy. why not get the hire company to alter how the unit is placed in the box so as you can remove the caddy.

seriously SLOW backup from averdigi mob1304

Hi USB 2. removing the caddy is the quickest way on the old mob. it would have been instant. you will spend hours downloading from usb .......... it is not usually a problem as you would only download the incident you need if used as a cctv system. you can just put a DVD recorder into monitor out on the dvr to to give you instant DVD.

seriously SLOW backup from averdigi mob1304

why not just remove the Hard drive caddy and load onto your pc. 27gb is alot for usb. do you have the standard mob or the network.
  20. this is only a test url. to see if you have remote set up. not the remote software and only shows a picture not footage. iphone app is easy to set up just enter IP and port and away it goes. but iphone has its own port which you need to set-up in your portforwarding

Need help on a big project!

your right but its not hard to find the true maker speco and jet is Huviron Honeywell uk is CNB they have taken alot of cameras out of there range am lucky in that i can buy direct from both huviron and CNB. and both will remove any sales from uk on ebay. so no price war. we do get the odd company from usa but selling NTSC in a pal location makes no sence but warrant is good 3 years on 1 5 on the other. i would not like to be spending my profits on a camera that has only just gone out or warranty and fail after 13 months
  22. tomcctv

    camera recommendation please

CNB have been talked about many times i also use CNB for 7 years but in some cases had to use another brand ( longer I.R ) but still good cameras. CNB have re done there full range a few makes foryou to look at http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/main/main.php http://www.huviron.com/eng/eng_huviron_main.php http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/portal.php

Need help on a big project!

sorry for highjacking yor post oppositeofh20. you do have a good budget for doing the install yourself. but i would use some better cameras than what you have listed to atleast get some identifacation be it person or car. like the wireguys have said ::: VideoIQ is the real deal. PTZs have moving parts that can fail and most PTZ only have a 6 month warranty. You can detect people cars and boats day or night 24/7 (with IR or white light) with minimum false positives. You can trigger events or alerts based off rules. If you just want to receive and email only when 2 people are on your lot for more then 5 seconds you can do that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A1RdBtHcaGw _________________ www.thewireguys.tv Avigilon Enterprise Certified Solutions Provider ArecontVision Partner #115 VideoIQ Certified Partner Exacq Vision Certified Partner Mobotix Certified Partner Fluidmesh Partner Demo Cameras Forsale or you could also look at hybrid systems mix and match or standard and ip cameras using the ip for more detail in your needed areas http://www.aver.com/Surveillance/Product/Detail.aspx?id=263 https://www.exacq.com/products/hybridservers.html
