Need advice for a good home system

Correct me if I'm wrong but it's it: IPS(Images per Second) = PPS(Pictures per Second) = FPS(Frames per Second.). But then there is also Fields Per Second(also known as FPS) that = 2 Fields to a Frame(picture/image/frame). It's been a couple years since I've had to explain this(thank you for finally going away VCRs!) and I might be a little jumbled up, but I'm pretty sure this is accurate. And unless multiple Samsung Reps have lied to me(a possibility, but doubtful), that is a 480FPS @ D1 unit. well you need to beat the rep up. the link posted is from there site (Samsung) and its clear IPS. IPS means images per second ..... also known as FPS fields per second. both of which are used to make a spec of a dvr look good. and then you have true FPS frames per second. Some manufacturers use different expressions when identifying the speed capabilities of their product. It will become increasingly apparent why this is misleading. ● Thirty (30) “frames-per-second”(abbreviated as “fps”) is “real-time,” ”real-motion” video in the NTSC (North America) video standard. ● Twenty-five (25) “frames-per-second”(abbreviated as “fps”) is “real-time,” ”real-motion” video in the PAL (International) standard. This is not to be confused with “fields-per-second” (also abbreviated as “fps”). Unfortunately, two (2) fields equal one (1) frame. So when a manufacturer states “30 fps” on their literature are they talking fields or frames? Are they talking about each channel of video or total capacity of the system? Are they talking about the system limitation or the operating capability?
  2. can you press f1 and list your software please if it is below 0055 you will need to alter some things. · General Protocol: For general protocol (Epson’s protocol), users can connect AVerDiGi Series DVR directly. · Non-General Protocol: For non-general protocol, please refer to the list of POS machine we have integrated as below. Brand Model Epson Epson TM-T88 Epson_MR800 IQ IQ2000 Posiflex Posiflex 4212 Samsung Samsung - SPS2000 Sharp Sharp ER-A530 Toshiba TOSHIBA ST-60-C Wincor Nixdorf Wincor Nixdorf BA63 on your register you will see network. and in there you will see pos B/O and you will see your registers ip address and a port number - change the port number to 5051. back on your dvr go to system and on the right hand side you will see pos settings click UTP and you will see the port 5051 below that entre your registers ip then use the test set-up 90% will work with general. post how far you get .
  3. with this being such a big job and the money involved you will have no problem having a manufacture also involved in your design. this will save you time and money. i would look at Avigilon. they are the best at this type of equipment and its used world wide. http://www.avigilon.com/products/samplefootage/

    Portable surveillance trailer

if you are looking to rent your trailer out then you need to make shure you have no problems later. the dvr you have listed is no good for this type of work (software to view footage) is not a good idea and is slow. also fixed cameras will limit you to the type of event work you get. most need ptz security

Need advice for a good home system

That seems to be a pretty decent unit. If I'm understanding everything correctly it records 240fps at full D1(720x480). I does lack HDMI out, and I can't seem to find the max resolution it will display. I guess 1920x1080 out is not really needed, but what be nice to have. Especially if I went with some HD cameras in the future. Can anyone recommend any other units as good or even better than the Avermedia? Maybe with HDMI out and a full 480fps at D1, not 4CIF. I looked at the Samsung SRD-1670, which claims to record at 480fps at 4CIF(704x480). I can see from the link above that compares frame rates that 30fps per channel at full D1 may be overkill, but I just want to weigh all my options before I make a decision. I would think the unit should last for several years and would like to stay as close to the top of the technology as I can, but still stay within reason on the cost. the samsung SRD-1670 is no were near the aver spec. this is the problem with samsung it is sold by many companys and each will alter the spec even when you google the SRD-1670 you will see some companys sell it as a true D1 and even one calls it a high def dvr. everone sells it but have differant specs to make it look good. like were you have got your information from. you say its a 480 fps at 4cif it true recording is 240fps. samsung spec SRD-1670 NTCS 480 ips is not the same as fps you have to half anything that says ips to give you to true fps. so the true spec of the samsung = http://www.sourcesecurity.com/docs/fullspec/20100610_0_20100610SRD-1670_DataSheet_E.pdf and the price for the samsung is stupid compaired to the avermedia listed in the last post. if you are looking for full true D1 at 30 fps on each channel then you are going to have to look at Hardware Compression System and not Software Compression. and looking at the price for the samsung its the same as the avermedia sa9000 pro which is a hardware compression dvr and also the http://www.averusa.com/surveillance/productdetail.aspx?id=88
  8. Hi you are going to have to learn a lot on here before you can judge what sould and cant be used on your install. which will take months. if you are not doing the install (jusy over seeing) then you will be best getting quotes for your install and then posting the options on what equipment is to be used and them others can help. are you in america ??? am in the uk and i know the regulations for cctv install in a campus/ school. in the US. you say budget is 500k miles away for a 500 ip camera system you will need a secure network for the whole system. you will also need a control room and a good door accsess system to run along side the cctv. you are looking at a full central station set-up here
  9. hi they are not avers own. its just that they are on the avers software for pos and ptz. the good thing about them is the pos test they have as in a form of data lights being sent. http://www.moxa.com/product/UPort_1110.htm
  10. the adaptor you are using will only be detected in your device manager when connected. also you need to be away from com 1 /2/3 so i would set your coms in 15/16/17 area. everyone seems to have problems with pos with the avermedias and its only because the avers have built in drivers for 1 make which is moxa. the moxa is self powered and will hold the com port asigned. and also to make it easy it also has data LEDs so you can see if it is picking up data.
  11. is this what you are using at the moment.

  14. how far is your dvr from your registers. and are you using drivers for your usb converters
  15. how are you connecting the registers to your dvr. ???
  16. ProposalmanJ. hi please dont take this the wrong way. just on the questions you have asked says you have not done ip before. i would say not to do it yourself. just look at the money involved. best of getting a company in to do the work. that sort of money you want it right. or let people know were you are and if you have someone close to you from the forum see if they will help you manage the install of your system.
  17. Hi mind twist. my head hurts after reading all that. but still cant make out what it is you are doing. why are you looking at recording from VGA. are you looking at tapping of a server existing system ?? are you going to be using the hikvision dvr to record everything that you have posted? you do mention D1 on the dvr. that dvr is not D1 and it will not do D1 at 25fps it will only do 25fps in cif how many cameras are you looking at recording and what are you protecting. ???
  18. rat droppings / dog pee forget the leaf blower . i have come to service your DVR

Looking for a Night Cam without LED lens

for what it would cost to leave a pc and then install a capture card and software i would just use a 4 way dvr. we used the avermedia EB3004 net with two cameras and 1 microphone. that gives you 30 days recording full internet viewing on any mobile

Looking for a Night Cam without LED lens

we have had cameras in a stud stable for 3 years now with no problem at all with IR. bullet cameras are ideal for what you need. you are also asking for internet access .... do you have power at the stable and a network there or close to the stables. this is a good little camera for your needs. http://www.ktnc.co.kr/english/viewtopic.php?t=427
