cheap generic dvr card
tomcctv replied to j4str's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
what i meant by that was i'll ask on another forum until somebody knows more about cheap generic cards and can point me to a card that will function properly. all cards function this is not your problem. your problem is what you are going to use to make it function (PC) its to old so you will need old software an old card and then you will be on a old O/S. like already said for the money a nv3000 avers card is good for its money but your PC will have to have at least the following. if not just go and buy a standalone unit. CPU: Pentium 43.0 GHz or higher OS: Windows 2000/ XP (32 bit)/ Vista (32 bit)/7 (32/64 bit) RAM: 512MB HDD : 80GB or higher CD-RM/DVD-RM Graphic Card: 32-bit high color SVGA graphics card with 64MB video memory and DirectDraw / YUV Rendering Capability 10/100 Base-T Ethernet card Sound card and speaker -
most dvrs will auto reboot now. the problem you are going to have is what make to use. and i will go back to the bosh camera again. am reading the spec for the camera and the engineers set-up dvr should record 2cif or 4cif ............ the camera will not work with D1 and will need to run 30fps. this system design is going to cost a lot of money if it was your own then yes TRY it out. but upto now nothing matches the camera and dvrs that have been listed are not compatible. and also the points of the camera being stolen or damaged. this is only because you have to mount it low because of the type of camera you are using. no camera should be installed in arms reach. What DVR do you recommend? (version 3.0) What is the effective difference between 4CIF and D1? Why will 4CIF work but D1 not work? If he goes with an EB1304 SATA for about $350 then he had 60fps D1 and can set the LPR channel to 30fps, and the car ID channel to 30fps, leaving the other 2 channels unused. You can't jsut keep saying "This DVR won't work, that DVR won't work..." without telling us which DVR you think *will* work. the reason is the EB1304 net is only 15fps on each camera, and the other reason is it has not been made for 2 years. it was replaced by the EB3004 net and replaced again by the EB3004net plus. why not to use D1 .............. because it says in the manual for the camera dont use D1 as artifacts (datalace) will result in bad image. cif is recommended. with good bitrate. the SEB 3104 is a much faster dvr 30fps on all 4. looking at the drawing of the camera placement . the max is 7m bosh say from 4 to 7m 30fps is needed by the time the camera is set-up in the area needed from the picture it already looks like it will be 5 m away from its target ......... giving only 2m left and a car going 30-40 miles. bosh are saying it will pick up a number plate at 50miles between 4 and 7m at 30fps. its going to be a hit a miss with that camera. and the youtube video is daytime that is how that camera works everything is black except number plates.

Have you used a Dahua DVR? How is it the same price when the EB1304 SATA+ costs twice the price at ALL US Distributors? And what features? The EB1304NET barely had any, the SATA+ doesnt appear to be much different. the EB1304 net is a 4 year old unit (blue steel case) the sata and plus was a much faster dvr but again stopped 12 months ago. have a try of the new SEB or EB3004 plus
-
Ive used the EB1304NET and wouldnt again, especially at the price. Not sure if they changed it yet, but no motion masking. Evidence Sharing is mediocre at best. Network client and browser app is rubbish. Its a basic DVR at a big price, you are better off with a Dahua DVR for half the price and 10 times the features sorry rory you need to go buy an avers again .......... same price as Dahua and in features it kills the Dahua.
-
EB1304 has not been made for a long time ........... and remember any thing avers make shure you have net at the end i.e eb1304 net. or it will not be networkable. the new replacement is the eb3004net-plus. but i would look at the SEB it is a lot faster in fps http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=232

cheap generic dvr card
tomcctv replied to j4str's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
so i take it that not too many people on here have cheap generic cards? I don't see why i couldn't get a cheap one to work if i had good software and correct drivers. I'll keep asking around on different places till i find someone say i can get it to work. I don't want to be a guinea pig, if i plan to spend $20 on a cheap card, its to save money, not to waste it. to be honest j4str if you are going to spend $20 on a card you have already started to waste your money. dont think buying cheap cards and using good software will improve the card because it will not -

thats the problem with sale mans videos ..................looks good .................hit with a bat set fire. ran over with a car. great........................thats just the caseing .............first hit with the hammer will kill the camera lens

the probem is the REG-X-816-XE it is very short range. max is 7m. looking at the drawings the camera will already be at its max just to get to the road. say its 4m to the road that leaves 3m. the dvr will have to be 30fps just to get one image. and i think 9 out of 10 it will miss. remember this is a black image camera it only does licence plates everything else is black. this camera is only good at close up work 4 to 7m max. putting a $1000 camera onto a $300 dvr is just not going to work.

i think this post has gone way off base . and has major problems. to the point it is going to be a waste of money. both the camera and the dvr specs dont match. it never works putting a good res camera with a budget dvr. remember that camera is designed only to pick licence plates .... it will not give you the original colour of the car. and in your application i think you need more that just trying to catch the licence plate. say they remove the plate or cover it up. your system is usless. i would go back to a good box camera get as much detail info of any car in the area this way you will get more info as poss. 1, licence plate (with a good lens) 2, colour of car 3, marks on car i.e stickers / type of wheels / bumps dents all of which help
-
the REG-X-816-XE is a close range camera no good for what you need max view is only 7m. max used for carpark enty and exits. looking at your drawing you need a lot more than 7m

Hi birdman. would it not be possable to run a cable from the house to the camera. it would be far better that getting mains power out to the pole to run camera and dvr. plus it will make it better to remove footage. and i would also look at the position of the camera. i would look at it pointing down your road and not up. the reason is cars will be slowing down as they turn in or out of the road giving you a much better chance of getting a plate at a slower speed. another camera i would take a look at is a pixim. http://www.icrealtime.com/solutions/cameras.asp?cameraid=EL411PIXIM#specs

the cameras you have should give you no problems................. your picture looks like a bad plastic lens. can you change the lens. you say you have this on both cameras ............ buy a good glass lens

i am using windows vista 32bit. i have tried the usb with the exfat and fat32 still i get the same error message on my dvr, im not sure what to do now because i am worried if somthing happens then i will not be able to back it up. i have just used the tool above and that only gives me the options of fat32 or ntfs, anyway ill put it back to fat32 with this and will let you know how it goes, (also just remembered i think i chose the quick format option for the exfat, ill try both the fat32 and exfat as a full format next) thanks anyway what make of dvr do you have.

thats a blood long time to wait chinese new year is not till feb 3rd 2011. happy new year everyone its just turned 2011 here " title="Applause" /> bpzle just PM you.

Hi birdman. you will find it hard to get plates with dome cameras . you need 50m lens and also your dvr needs to have good fps look for something with 12 or above fps . you might have a speed limit on your road but bad guys dont stick to it. you do need good res and good fps for licence plates. i am a big user of CNB and the only time we dont use them is when we need good long range or for licence plates. and this is one of the best at both. http://www.koreacctv.com/eng/product/product_view.php?ac_id=65&ai_id=588

License Plate Recognition with flat/printed license plates
tomcctv replied to Scruit's topic in System Design
Hi scruit. this camera will do everything you need. he is on this forum under huviron. http://www.koreacctv.com/eng/images/item/596_n.pdf -
First of all, it uses a standard IDE harddrive, that cost about $35, and who talked about using money on the harddrive? The viewing software (wavereader) works even on windows 7! wavereader does work on windows 7 your right. on the latest vista or supported units. the VC16Te-320 came out in 2004 and stopped 2007 no support after 2008. if you can find an old version of wavereader 2006-7 then you can do your set-up though your pc. with you saying pal ... i thought you was in the uk. if you are using the dvr for a store then the HD is not big enough and also 1.5 fps across 16 channels is also bad for any shop or store in the uk. you good if its for your own home

yes it is. and you can also hide buttons to stop customers playing. if you pm me your email ill tell you how ......... remove logo and also add your own.
