vavdagic. what are you trying to do with your system are you using pir sensors with your alarm box ???

a simple way would be to put a 4 channel dvr in each location and then use a CM software to monitor all dvrs together. take a look at the eb3004 avermedia with there cm300 software.

i was not to shure about this post and how anything like this could work without false alarms. like comments made ... fire works / car backfire. but i read the papers here in the uk to find they have just installed a massive system in birmingham. all done by an american company http://www.shotspotter.com/ uk papers State of the art gunshot sensors have been installed for the first time in a British city in a new approach to tackling gun crime. Project Safe and Sound" in Birmingham uses technology which records an audio clip of any gunshot fire and sends police its GPS location, helping them decide how to respond. It can tell if multiple shots were fired, whether they were fired from a stationary or moving location, the number of weapons used, and the order in which they were fired, according to the manufacturers. West Midlands Police said the sensors had been placed high up on buildings in northwestern areas of the city. "This technology will enable us to respond faster and more effectively to firearms incidents, therefore minimising the harm to local communities and maximising the opportunity to seize illegal firearms, catch offenders and potentially save lives," said West Midlands Police Chief Chris McKeogh. The Shotspotter Gunshot Location System is already used in U.S. cities. U.S.-based firm Shotstopper Inc designed the technology, which can pick up gunshot fire within a 25 metre radius from a distance of two kilometres. Police responded to some Birmingham residents' concern that the sensors would be used for surveillance, saying they record decibels, not voices.

Connecting camera to old monitor
tomcctv replied to skinnyvinnie's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi skinnyvinnie. its called a 7 pin din. you will not find any adaptor to connect your camera. as there are many differant ways companys used the configuration to connect there cameras. but if you are handy you could just take your unit apart and find the video in wires (you only need the video and ground) as you can use a seperate power supply to run the camera. if your not that handy run your system and camera down to your local tv repair shop. -
if you are missing segments in your back-up screen (white and not blue squares) then first check your H/Drives make sure there are staying cool (add more fans) and dont use green H/D or AV drives. and with a 32 cam system you will also need to turn down your frame rate on some cameras (if you are running full frame rate on every camera this will also give you problems ....... put 5 or 6 channals down to 7 fps. if on H264.

POS text overlay on video. Need help & Recomendation
tomcctv replied to johnty's topic in General Digital Discussion
serial port monitor ??????? how. you say in your post you are getting a new touch till ............... your output is vga. (your going to be on a windows system) how are you going to record the data from the till. if you have a problem in your shop and the police want footage or you want footage of money going missing it must be in the same picture (text overlay) with timestamp in the uk. you are right I said I am thinking about it. now as I am getting familiar with the all the process I really do not need to change the register . [Now only if I need to] Now any printer that can send data to pole watcher or most importantly to printer, that output port can be monitored. doesn't matter what type of port is it. I do not worry about police thing just sack the the bugger stealing money from me.. -

Ha ha ah - I'm not talking about an oversized calculator with a cash drawer. kablooie. that is what we are talking about. a standard till. you are giving advice on back office tills. so its like i said it is cheaper to install a text overlay or swap out his dvr card that does pos. to collect the data from the serial port of his till. -
thank for that rory. -2 here oh and the white stuff is called snow

Tutorial: Watch cctv remotely. Even with no networking
tomcctv replied to johnty's topic in Computers/Networking
thats fine for remote viewing. am on about to your pc (dvr) from livestream. why give your security dvr info away The Information Livestream Collects: Information You Provide: You may provide to Livestream what is generally called "personally identifiable" information (such as your name, email address, credit card number, postal mailing address, and telephone numbers) if you use certain services or products from the Livestream Service, enter contests or sweepstakes, or otherwise use the features and functionality of the Livestream Service. “Automatically Collected“ Information: When you access the Livestream Service (including through your computer or your mobile device) or open one of our HTML emails, we may automatically record certain information from your system by using different types of tracking technology. This “automatically collected“ information may include Internet Protocol address ("IP Address"), a unique user ID, version of software installed, system type, the content and pages that you access on the Livestream Service, and the dates and times that you visit the Livestream Service. “Cookies“ Information: When you access the Livestream Service, we may send one or more cookies . small text files containing a string of alphanumeric characters . to your computer. Livestream may use both session cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie disappears after you close your browser. A persistent cookie remains after you close your browser and may be used by your browser on subsequent visits to the Livestream Service. Persistent cookies can be removed. Please review your web browser "Help" file to learn the best way to modify your cookie settings. “Pixel Tags“ or “Clear Gifs“ A pixel tag, also known as a clear GIF or web beacon, is an invisible tag placed on certain pages of our Livestream Service but not on your computer. When you access these pages, pixel tags generate a generic notice of that visit. They usually work in conjunction with cookies, registering when a particular computer visits a particular page. If you turn off cookies the pixel tag will simply detect an anonymous website visit. -

seems to be an easy solution but i would not recommend that you install this on a pc based dvr. read the aggrement to adds and pop-ups ....... why put a security system at risk -
POS text overlay on video. Need help & Recomendation
tomcctv replied to johnty's topic in General Digital Discussion
Kablooie. that is not a simple as you make out. 1. the dvr sould just be used as a dvr only. for what you are saying you would have to take the data from the till convert it to text (software) also be able to store (hard/drive) then give it another screen output. and at the end it still can not be searchable (it a standard till no back office) and for the cost it would be better to use a text overlay or change the card to a card that has full pos search and store. and a dvr card with pos search will give all the info you need. 1 text overlay on video 2 searchable by word or stock code....... put in chips will show you how many have been sold that day or can of coke 3 highlight void/no sale/ till open 4 will also give a copy of recipt given to customer and doing it that way will be cheaper than anything else. -
POS text overlay on video. Need help & Recomendation
tomcctv replied to johnty's topic in General Digital Discussion
exactly my plan... Also you can improvise the same scenario via live streaming.. I'll try it after my exam finishes... after 16th dec.. so its not pos for your cctv. this is a silly idea. i thought you wanted the pos so as you can spend more time away from your shop.......... think about it ..... you are going to have to watch 24/7 with your set-up. live dvr video on 1 screen and the other screen live pos data. so in your post you have a standard till (no back office set-up) and your till is not windows based. you are best changing your dvr card to one that does pos. and save your money -
Hi if you are testing straight from till to laptop you will need to use a cross over cable for the moxa. and also every time you change settings you also need to reset the moxa unit every time till text is right. how far is your till from the dvr.

POS text overlay on video. Need help & Recomendation
tomcctv replied to johnty's topic in General Digital Discussion
Not necessarily true. Most till printers are just simple ASCII printers - that WILL be plain text, with CRs/LFs and possibly TABs in appropriate places. Ditto with Polewatcher outputs, since a Polewatcher display just accepts and displays plain text. The main issue with logging it to a DVR is that the software needs to understand the layout of the information - ie. register number, transaction number, item name, item price, etc., to sort and store them in the right columns. The output itself is perfectly legible, in most cases. As noted above though, a printer output is not generally good for live data capture, because it doesn't usually send data until the transaction is complete (and sometimes not until PRINT is specifically selected). A Polewatcher output is preferable because it's generally realtime - item is entered/scanned, item displays immediately. yes pole display and printer get the same data. what i do not understand is how the op is going to see the data without a pos box or text overlay box (both of which converts the data to text) he could use UTP but his dvr does not allow that. for him to say he is going to just monitor his data out on a monitor is only going to give him binary. Serial communications are simply a series of voltage or current changes which are translated into the binary equivalents of 1 or 0s. After a series of this data is received, the computer reconstructs the serial data into its original binary format for computation.
