RECOMENDATIONS FOR A 4 CAMERA CCTV SYSTEM
tomcctv replied to johno2009's topic in General Digital Discussion
hi johno2009. please do not look at maplins kit (other name cnm) uk is flooded with them. for a good budget brand look at avermedia EB3004 sata net. (people call it budget) but the new one has the same screen as sa and nv ill pm you a video. and as far as getting them on the internet for remote viewing 5 mins tops. free iphone app if you go to istore and download averdigi viewer i will also send you an ip address of a dvr you can view. -
Hi Ian. yes your mother can put cameras in covert or not. but the problem comes to installing them in rooms. it depends on the sort of problem you are having. if it is like the case that was in the papers a few weeks ago i.e staff not doing there job like the nurse turning off the life support machine. then yes you will need a company to do it for you and in the rooms can only be a tempory system.

High CPU load on my CCTV PC with 2 avermedia NV5000 cards
tomcctv replied to liukuohao's topic in AverMedia
Hi rory, Thanks for your feedback. True, I myself follow the hardware spec. to the dot, and thought the P4 will be suffice to handle the task (As I have a P4 system lying around doing absolute nothing and it will be good that I put it in good use). But obviously not!!! Even, the Pentium-D CPU cannot handle the processing job using 2 NV5000 DVR cards efficently. Every now and then, I can feel there is a bottleneck some where in the system. If all 8 channels are capturing moving objects, then the CPU has to work harder to catch up the load of compression and recording. The hardware spec on the Avermedia website has not been updated. Therefore, it will be wise for them to revise it because the information is definitely outdated. And...for your information, no anti virus software was installed on any of my CCTV PC. Thanks. can i ask why you used 2 nv5000 cards why did you not just use 1 card and a add on card to give you 8. and it would have been cheaper to have just used the nv6000 than buying 2 nv5000. the spec you have listed is for 1 card. and 1 BNC video extention card. to give you 8 -
what type and make of camera are you going to be looking at. zoom depends on how far you need to see

Playback keeps stopping with "cif end"
tomcctv replied to tangcoral's topic in Digital Video Recorders
you dont have a problem. it just down to how your dvr works. on some data will be saved in blocks by the hour (makes it easy to search) you just keep clicking on the file for that hour -

Hi josh. when building a 16 camera system you need to take into account cost. sometimes it is cheaper to buy made. take a look at the avermedia 9000 pro or the avermedia SA6000e ............. the cost of building a 16 and buying the sa6000e is not much more.

Hi Dar. the appollo is not the type of dvr you would attach £200 cameras too. so i would just pop that quote in the bin. the appollo is a hard machine to work around and getting it over the internet. it is a stupid set-up (which they charge £50 for a support phone call) i would look at buying it yourself and i would look at CNB cameras and a avermedia EB3004 sata net, both of which are far better than your dvr and cameras listed. -
the CNB VCP701/IRH. is ideal for a marina. and if used with the hand control unit gives you zoom options.
-
just looked at your spec post ..... camera / power supply/cable $25. those cameras are going to give your problems. your power supply is too small for a start. for that distance
-
it looks like a power problem over distance. .. what size power supply are you using ???
-
we have done this many times as a quick solution to pos. we use belkin vga to rca converters and we all so add a picture in picture box. this makes it much better as you have 2 images on one screen ....... till display and camera covering the counter. and your dvr will record it as a split screen.
-
just some advice......... dont buy that system ............ the cnm dvr is nothing but problems. and when you need to take footage off is just another story.
