do you have the steel blue case eb or black plastic dvr.

Green drives are plenty fast and give off less heat making them more suited for the confined spaces of a DVR. it depends on which type of system .............green drives dont work in pc systems ........ give western digital tech a call they will tell you the same thing.

mario. i think i agree with the others. and the site you listed is something i would never use. it would just be a waste of money. most installers will have a number of cameras that they trust and know they do the job. then the main test is camera to dvr. you can have a good image on one dvr and bad on an other. you get some people spending $200 on a camera and connecting it to a $60 dvr from ebay and the first thing they will say is the cameras crap ............... i think doing test on big brand name makers just would not work. . its like the test box you have built ............. you can do all the tests and post your findings...... them someone else can make a bigger test box with true daylight fittings ...and the reports will be differant.

Hi hectyre. if you mean by going full ip cameras for your install then you need to be looking at a nvr and not a dvr. or just software from the likes of milstone. or you could look at a hybrid dvr. just mix of ip and standard cameras. this is a good way to go if you already have cameras installed.

Do most PTZ cameras provide "tracking" capability?
tomcctv replied to DotNetDog's topic in Security Cameras
Hi Dot. you can buy a ptz with the feature on but megga money. but you can also buy dvrs with this feature. if you already have a dvr. then you might think of using sensors to give your ptz an alarm point. -
Hi davie. you say that you live 1 mile (600m) from the farm ................. is it a 1 mile. its just that 1mile is 1610m so as we can tell you what is best

Hi. maplins sell 80% re-worked cctv systems from many companies like cnm and panacom. the bad new is it has taken you two years to find a problem. when the dvr formats your pen .....what does it show up under properties as fat or fat32. but the other problem is it should not format your drive from the usb anyway.

Best DVR for security cameras. Q-see or Clover
tomcctv replied to Toaster's topic in General Digital Discussion
Sure you can see difference between 15FPS and 25FPS! Especially on moving objects! When talking about 50/60 it is also FPS not IPS, take a look at http://vivotek.com/products/model.php?network_camera=ip8352&also=ip8352&tab=over 50/60FPS at HD720 Resolution then we are talking, but ofcourse for overview cameras, no need for more then 25 FPS in a retail store. When I am talking about 50&60FPS it is for a entrance camera where people are walking and you want to use video recordings later for identify people. For instance a 7-Eleven have 1 High res/high speed camera for entrance door then 25FPS cameras with ? Resolution for the rest. For a highway traffic monitoring maybe need as low as 1 FPS. But you can take and have a look at still images from 15/25FPS and then compare with high speed cameras. Specially H264/Mpeg4 needs more FPS. Mjpeg is better for 1 single frame. JD your customers will not see any differance from 15 to 30 http://www.panasonic.com/business/security/demos/PSS-recording-rates.html -
twomcctv. am with matt i think its time you brought your company into 2010. reading your post felt like i was back in the 80s.

Best DVR for security cameras. Q-see or Clover
tomcctv replied to Toaster's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi JD. i think your dvr specs are in ips and not fps 50ips = 25fps ..... 30ips = 15fps .... no reason to go above 15fps as you cant see any differance. -
yes they do all avers will do windows mobile./ smartphone/BB/iphone/ipad
-
halam. you need to talk to the company you are buying your dvr from. they will tell you which is best. also for warranty issues it is best to order it with the drive installed.
-
your best option is where you buy the dvr from you state what size H/drive you want. and it will be cheaper than what you could buy it for anyway.
-
most uk suppliers sell the avtech with a 500gb H/D fitted. so i would see how you get on with how many days you get then if needed upgrade the H/D.
-
for around a home with 1 tb about 15 days and it will keep deleting the last day for a new day cycle. the avtech is a budget dvr but it will do the job. other unbranded names would have given you problems
-
it depends on how you set it up. and the number of cameras. you can set your dvr to record over when full. but i would not use schedule recording. it will always be off when you need it most
-
you are right it is frustrating....... you are so tied up in setting your ddns account. you need to get remote working first then add it to a ddns account. when you set everything up you need to get a friend to test it then (not the next day as your ip will have changed) can you not test with your mobile ...... which phone do you have ?
-
in the uk and with your budget i would look at the AVTECH KPD 674 H.264. i would not look at anything less. you will only have a headach. stay with brand names.
-
Hi halam. how many cameras are you using ??? the only problem is your budget cant even buy trade at that price.
-
Hi jeromephone. i have 4 sanyo 3500 on one of these. customer loves the quality. no licence for any ip camera. http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=203

What kind of Hard Drive should i install on an 8CH LTS DVR ?
tomcctv replied to omer78's topic in Digital Video Recorders
like before dont use a AV TYPE h/drive ......... you are best just using a standard drive for your dvr ........ just no point at all you using AV type. -
best thing to do is call someone you know and give them your external ip to try or try from your mobile phone
-
yes thats right. and i would forget using jpeg2000ddns. you need to get remote viewing working first. if you dont then we cant help your just giving yourself a problem you dont need
-
if you cant see anything with you external ip i would forget jpegddns till you have sorted it just fix 1 problem at a time. and remember you will not be able to view your dvr on the external ip from your own network
-
first of all dont use a ddns to view. do that later when you have set it up. just try local first entre your local ip for your dvr. into your browser as ......http://192.168.1.4 ..... and see if it connects. who is you isp ???
