Hi atamai. you can take your pic of what ip cameras you can use with that dvr. it depends on what your budget is. and how you are going to use it i.e dome camera or ptz / or internal or external. take a look at sanyo here is a post from the forum. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11322&start=210 -
Does anybody know if these Network Video Servers are good?
tomcctv replied to PilotGuy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi Pilotguy. some things are missing off the ebay discription. you do know you will need to keep your pc on 24/7 also you will need a good size H/D to hold the recordings. for a little bit more money you would be best just buying a network dvr from a brand name company. -
Hi mike. it depends on your budget. and what you are going to be protecting. the systems you have listed are low fps dvrs and you would be better sticking with your system.
-
i do have a few of them cameras out i used them on budget installs. but i will be honest with you the picture quality is very very good day and at night. and are better than the small cnb range. i would also look at the avermedia nv5000 dvr card

tomcctv replied to Scruit's topic in Digital Video Recorders
under user settings have you ticked all the webviewer boxes and also the remote access time to infinite. also you need to give it time for your phone to download. this can take upto 10 mins. and also try this as a test http://your dvr ip:5550/mobile this is a quick screen shot and works on any mobile with internet. -
what happens when you apply 12 volts to a 24 volt camera?
tomcctv replied to Sunnyday4444's topic in Security Cameras
no problem at all. under powering will not do any harm at all 12v for 24v. but if is was 24v into 12v. some good cameras will recover but the cheaper ones well they smell like burning bacon. -
Any options for viewing Aver EH5216+ from Blackberry Strorm?
tomcctv replied to Scruit's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi scruit. some blackberrys will let you load the java window and some dont. down to cell company. so here are 2 ways 1 should get you working. but your dvr port has to be 5550. enter this as is into your phone browser. http://your dvr ip:5550/JAVA-Viewer.html and your dvr will send your phone the download. or email this to your phone http://your dvr ip:5550/JAVA-Viewer.html and then click on the link. just for ref: all these ports sould be open on your router to your dvr ip. 5550/5551 - for remote 5555 - for cms and 53 & 1053 - for ddns -

Help with basic question on cabling and cameras
tomcctv replied to tds1's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
like soundy and bpzle say you are in a good situation with how they wired your house. you are covered for any camera install . and if your cable runs are not to long. if you have not picked your cameras yet take a look at the CNB-utp range. you can install theses cameras as stated by soundy and bpzle. but if the runs are to long for coax you can still just conect these cameras with just your cat5. -
the camera will connect to your q-see http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/WVCS854B.PDF

Hikvision ? What the ...??!
tomcctv replied to brianj's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Tomcctv u should stop criticizing HIK 1.HIK record H.264 2.we can get from CIF to D1 (depend on the card) with lot less CPU resources then Avermedia ever 3.HIK has Hybrid solution too 4. You can watch HIK on Iphone, IE I can keep going and tell you How Aver never finish their soft and so on... but I guess I should stop the post above listed 2 types of cards. not every card from hik. so i listed the differance between them. -
Hikvision ? What the ...??!
tomcctv replied to brianj's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Well, Avermedia's $480 NV7240 (4?)-8CH card appears to be more expensive, adding 2.5 times the storage cost due to MPEG4 compression, running this software: the recording is the main part of cctv the hikvision only records in cif the avermedia records mjpeg. also the aver is hybrid so yes a little more in price but you get alot more. also remote viewing you dont need software like you do the hik. also mobile viewing. avers can be viewed on anything hik cant. -
AVT AVC777 record quality fps problem
tomcctv replied to radioalarm's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Interlaced image? Is it common for DVRs to be so limited? Sorry for stupid question, but I'm kinda new to this video surveillance field. 1fps is not acceptible when you are trying to see thief's face, and he shows it for like 2 seconds. I inherited this monster along with the building its just the age of the machine over time they get better and better. but you still get the unbranded companys selling bad fps dvrs. they call them ips to make them look good. always look for dvrs with no less than 12fps on each camera. even avtech have better machines now i am shure scorpion could do you a upgrade. also i have just pm you a play with demo of fps -
looking at the geo ip support list. software 8.3.3.0 your camera is not supported. might be worth calling vivotek to see if it will be supported soon.

HW / SW compression True or wrong
tomcctv replied to Camomille's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
i have a box full of hickvision 16 way cards all new taken from dvrs we installed last year. we had to change all cards and graphic cards from hik as there support was bad and wanted to charge for everything. while under warranty. you can do alot better with geovison or avermedia cards. i dont know if the avermedia sa9000 pro is available in the US but here in the uk and belgium it is. and that is a full hardware comp dvr/nvr with hdmi outputs with 42in and sanyo hd cameras just like watching a good movie. -
if it can be done with ip it should also work with standard cameras. this is just the screen view. with the new geovision it has drag and drop. place mouse over camera hold down right mouse button drag camera to new location let mouse go.
