tomcctv replied to cocacola's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
that cable is fine for outdoors. how are you going to power your camera. you might find it better to use this (pic) and if your run is not to long. -

Hi wendy. this is because you have portforwarded port 80 on your router.

Can't view CCTV DVR remotely...
tomcctv replied to krypt4's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
plusnet blocks port 80 can you change this on your dvr to 5555. so portforward 37777 and 37778 and 5555 in your router and you also need to be on another network to check your remote viewing. and you also need to enter your ip as follows. http://localip:5555 http://externalip:5555 Sorry just to check, should I change the HTTP port from 80 to 5555? Thanks yes change port 80 to 5555 as plusnet blocks 80. hope this helps. -
It has the same Xacti engine as VCC-HD2100/2300/2500. I did a job for customer last week with few 2300 models. Day time - very very good(with Fujinon megapixel lens), at low light - crap. Also, at 4mpix it gives just few fps. I set them to 2.1 to get 8fps. Overall its a good deal for that money. Hi. bpzle. i have used 6 of the hd 3300 and 2 of the hd 3500. and it is nothing like the hd 2100 cameras. the night (d/n) is the best you will see. what helps D/N is the auto focus. and also on the avermedias you have full control (with 7.7 software) H.264. Robert. you have a settings problem if you are only getting 8fps on 2.1

you can from smartphones or pda but not from your iphone and jailbrake will not help either. you could just buy a cheap nokia pay as you go

Can't view CCTV DVR remotely...
tomcctv replied to krypt4's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I figured out how to do the port forwarding from portforward.com but I forwarded the ports 37777 and 80, not 37778. Would that be the cause of it not working? ISP is Plusnet, and I'm in Leicester. Thanks. plusnet blocks port 80 can you change this on your dvr to 5555. so portforward 37777 and 37778 and 5555 in your router and you also need to be on another network to check your remote viewing. and you also need to enter your ip as follows. http://localip:5555 http://externalip:5550 -

LJD back up to there old tricks again. £50 for support. can you tell me which router you have. -
Hi scruit. i have been using avermedias own ip camera over till areas it is only cheap but better than a standard dome and you get sound i will take some shots for you to see. as far as the audio lead kit. mine comes tomorrow i will cut it open for the pin config. no point buying the lead all the time as its for 16 mics once you have the config you can make your own for how ever many mics you need.

newbe question one: sleep mode
tomcctv replied to drzman49's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi drzman. your pc will always need to be on and not go into sleep mode. all your motion setting are on the cctv card software your pc goes to sleep so does your cctv software. which cards are you going to use and what will you be protecting. -
Anything is possible, but why would you want this? Fire alarm systems are separate standalone systems that are complex enough without integrating them into questionable quality CCTV/access systems.. If you feel the need to have total monitoring you can have remote satellite annunciator panels installed at key locations by your fire alarm company, which you probably already have. The other question is the fire alarm system remotely or locally monitored? . Simplex and Edwards makes some really nice annunciators. it is important to have any door entry/exit system linked to a fire system the last thing you want in a fire are doors locked trapping people and also fire service getting in. you dont want the fire system to open doors as soon as it is activated. but if another fire alert device (2 alarms active) or fire alarm active for over a certain amount of time say 5mins it opens doors. but this is something that you can talk to your local fire dept about. Miamirob. i would just like to say what a good job you are doing. i have been reading your posts since you started your project and it has been very good reading.

Arecont Cameras Software
tomcctv replied to serverguy's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
There arn`t a lot of settings to do Why dont you tell honestly that Arecont does motion blur like hell? Combine that with some F1.6 or F1.8 50m lense - oh yes, what a great image will we have sorry robert but i am with thewireguys on this. lets take the sanyo hd camera and i use these everyday. in the daytime its like watching a movie. leave the camera set like this 5mp and night time falls the video becomes very poor just looks like a cheap camera. but if i set-up set the setting to 5mp for day time and have the camera reboot when the light is starting to fade to switch to 1.3mp i am back to a very good b/w video. now mobotix with there Q24 same again day time very good camera but night useless. but the d/n Q24 with 1.3mp is just as good as its day camera. but there are not many ip cameras on the market that you can set to auto change its own settings like the sanyo and also re-focus. for day and night. -

New type of BNC connectors
tomcctv replied to CCTV_Suppliers's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi cctv supplier. 2 years ago uk suppliers were full of these connectors. now you cant buy them anywere. they look good but are the worst things ever. also yes they do different cables but what the video does not show is to do this you have to buy extra caps. blue for RG59 and green / yellow / red for others. and i love the way they say re useable. if you connect 8 bnc 3 will have a problem so you need the tool to start again. and at £2 $4 here. and the other problem you cant just buy some to try because you have to buy the tools to put them together $50 -
Capture POS video into IP camera format
tomcctv replied to adamh's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi hardwired. i still dont understand the project. i have asked if its text overlay or moneys going though till and the answer has been no. if its just the duplicate screen he is looking at converting he would save a lot of money if he just did overlay from ip. -
+1 i dont think anyone on the forum is nasty at all to new or old posters. and i think the knowledge guys on here give will save people $1000s. its like a guy on the other nite gv 16 way card from ebay $75 he thinks its going to just slot into his pc and away it goes. gv dont do cards for $75 so he has a copy or bad card that is either cheap crap or does not work. the sh#t i got from him on here and pm. i was only trying to save him money
