    Detecting clones/fakes

it depends on your budget. if its used on ebay then its just a bad card been returned. and anyone can put links to geovision. buying from ebay bad idea. its a risk that turns into a headache and costs money. take a look at the avermedia nv3000 costs a little more than cards on ebay. but its new and you have back-up and support. That card has been recommended. The problem with it is it apears to be a 4 port card. I need 8 ports minimum as I only have two PCI slots and will need 7-10 cameras once I'm done. It looks like the lowest model AverMedia card I could use is the NV7240. I was also looking at the GV-800-8 series as an option if I could find a decent price used one. the nv5000 will give you 16 cameras on two pci slots. and 25 fps on each camera.

  3. avermedia are like hivision . they sell cards and dvrs. just to a better standard. http://www.averdigi.com/sp/
  4. looks like reflection from the wet floor. ir will bounce back from anything like that. also your pic shows that you have lighting running as well. just switch off your ir or cover it up with black tape and see what your picture is like then.
  5. Hikvision cards are used by many dvr makers. and i used them for many years. until they started adding the cost of licences to stupid things like a yearly microsoft licence. you are in spain and in the same area as avermedia europe. not a dealer but a manufactura. and they knock spots of hikvision.
  6. you also get the cms 3000 software with the unit. so if you can network it you will have full control from any pc.
  7. for a high end card you will need to look at something more than 4 channel to get you into good fps and quality. so you might be better buying a small dvr. with your cameras being so high. look for D1 recording with 25fps. this little unit will connect upto your existing monitors and allow you to connect a vga monitor also. full mouse control http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=232
  8. to go from dvr to pc you will need a crossover cable. and not the standard eithernet cable.
  9. much better. but if your pc died then why not just by the avermedia 1304 sata from avers. it has a much better frame rate than the nv3000.

    network on t mobile uk

yes it is pos. and thats a good phone to do it on. but to give you more help we need to know the make of your dvr.
  12. the best way for you is not to put it though there ddns. the bt home hub is straight forward but first. (if you are in the uk BT) is to just buy a static ip (£5) for the year. then just log into your external ip.
  13. frame rate is bad 25 total. the footage will drive you mad. slow and it will miss things. (and it always miss the things you need.) with a 4 chanel you need to look for 100 fps in total.

    PTZ cameras

http://wataboy.com/videos you also get 15 sensors in the kit. will alsp take any camera ip/standard
  16. your portforwarding does not seem right. it should not be giving you a public ip. first see what the ip is for your dvr. (in dvr network settings) and right it down (this is your local ip) then go to firewall on your 2 wire. for some reason on 2 wires you will only see the mac address of your dvr. click on it and give it a name (cctv) then give it a port number (dont use 80) use 5550 then exit the router. now find your external ip (google myip) and right it down. now use the local ip to log on (you must be on the same network) and when you are away from the network you use the external ip. and you enter your ip in IE like this http://yourip:5550
  17. no am not saying that. infact they will look after you very well. the last camera i sent back was a Q24 to have the mic reset this had a cost of £120. but i took it to the uk mobotix office as i am only 11 mile from it. it might be cheaper if you book a trainning day with mobotix and take your camera with you. thay might over look the cost.
  18. why not be a mobotix installer. go on a tranning day. if you know the camera and installed it then no you will never have to send it back for reset. you only need do this if you dont know the camera passwords and user name. and without these you cant get the camera working. even if you get a stolen one it has to go back it will never work till its reset. and as far as getting it back when stolen. on mobotix you can install your company details into the camera. and this can only be removed by mobotix if stolen.
  19. you can only send them back to mobotix though a mobotix dealer. you will need more than just a password reset. so have a full factory update. and they will ask you the history of the camera. (remember they do) Wait...so let me get this correct....there is no manual push button reset switch on one of the most advanced cameras available? Dang thats a real deal blower, spending the extra cash is just BS put the downtime you will face is even worse. ex. send it in overnight, they fix it in one day and overnight it back to you, total time frame 3 days, and probably like $100, so for 3 days your client would be without security from that camera, and as you know mysterious stuff like theft, assault and sexual harassment and what not always will start to happen with the absence of a camera. *EDIT* Apparently you can reset to factory defaults but still have to send it into the factory for a main admin password. First time I've heard of something like this....kinda BS. gfdcxgfd. so yes you still need to send the camera back. no it mobotix cameras dont have a reset button. and the way the mobotix works is not BS. if you are the original installer then you have no problems at all you can change settings on site. and as you know mobotix cameras are expensive. so let say you buy an external mobotix and a few weeks later some scum bag steals the camera. do you know you have an 80% chance of getting the camera back. the mobotix system works very well and it also stops 3rd party installers messing with the camera.

    Swann DVR9 Dxclient

you dont need ip cameras to be able to view on a iphone. and it does have relation to your dvr. you will need to see if swann have a app for there dvr in istores or give swann a ring to see if they know of a app for your system.

i would use a ptz. nothing worse than drug activity happening in the camera blind spot. or just out of range. http://www.cnbtec.com/en/html/product/product.php?seqx_prod=989 this is just a little bigger than the samsung. also take a look at the sanyo HD range ip. very good camera.

    help needed for home sys

kiter. first ask yourself why you want a cctv system. like you have said The card what i have enough for me .I can not say i like the res on picture but do the work ok. no point in having a system were you cant make out faces or car plates. you would be better going for the avermedia or avtech. in the long run you will save money. and dont buy from ebay. just type ebay into the search at the top of the forum page. see how many people have wasted there money.
  23. you can only send them back to mobotix though a mobotix dealer. you will need more than just a password reset. so have a full factory update. and they will ask you the history of the camera. (remember they do)

    DynaColor DG208

i had a a problem just the same with a unit called the levi. would start up run for 2 to 3 mins then shut down. and i found the problem by mistake. but it might be worth a go. remove all usb cables to the motherboard and start it back up. the problem with the levi was one of the usb ports had shorted out with the owner putting a pen in the wrong way.
  25. might have a go at changing your port 80 to say 5000 or 5555 dont use port 80.
