Hi Alastair. it will just be a log on problem. but your best idea is to take it back. this is a bad range of dvr from maplins. forget about the network see how long it takes to do a back-up and see if you can play it back. last month i had 3 service calls to maplins dvrs -
Dedicated Micros DS2 Forgoten PASSWORD no ip assigned
tomcctv replied to bitlover's topic in Digital Video Recorders
you would be best contacting your installer to reset your system. passing passwords over a forum is not a good thing. and as you are not an engineer. -

HD recording of live bands in a nightclub
tomcctv replied to xyontek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
sanyo have a HD camera that will do the job. it will record 1080p to a external H/ drive. spec : The VCC-HD4000P uses groundbreaking technology to offer improved picture quality, giving vast improvement in image sharpness. The dual streaming of H.264 and JPEG enable high definition recording, (internally or externally) and real time H.264 live monitoring at the same time. Images can be recorded onto SD/SDHC memory card and also to a external hard drive via USB. These features allied with a 4 million mega pixel progressive scan sensor and 10 x built in optical zoom lens mean crystal clear images are available for a range of applications and situations where it was not previously possible. Ideal for banking, retail and all remote surveillance applications, the VCC-HDN4000P brings broadcast quality imaging to the CCTV industry. -
you will find its the frequency 2.4ghz it will be fine if you go around everyone in a 600feet range and ask them all to switch of cordless phones / wireless routers / bluetooth phones / video senders. you need to get higher frequency 5.2ghz

Residential (exterior) video surveil installer in Arizona?
tomcctv replied to Lombie's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hardwired is right. try moving away from wireless. you will wish you had when installed. the cameras still need power feed so like hardwire said use RG59 with power and put a small dvr buy your power outlet. then link dvr upto your existing tvs. a good little dvr is the avermedia. if you are going to fit cctv fit something that works. http://www.avermedia-usa.com/surveillance/productdetail.aspx?id=18 -
Maiden Voyage - 20 Camera PC setup
tomcctv replied to BBKingAdrock's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
now you have your fps sorted when you buy cards look for a good recording res. just pm you. -
it will not belong before a licence is needed in Ireland. so dont start off on the wrong foot. soundy and scorpion have given you good advice. go and spend sometime in the shop take a note pad and make a sketch. look around all the outside of the store. see what lighting they is and also like scorpion has said look around the bin area (also remember cctv is not just for customers bad staff as well) does the shop sell beer ??? if so you have to have a cctv trail i.e from shelf to till to leaving the store this also includes outside the front of the store. so as the owner can proof he has not sold to underage kids. if you pm me i will send you the goverment advice sheets. you can also give your customers a copy. as far as equipment dont do as many installers in ireland and the uk are doing. buying cheap chines rubbish with a mark up of 1000% and your customer having a crap system. you have on of the biggest cctv suppliers in euroupe in ireland. RF Concepts who will give you all the help you need.

Maiden Voyage - 20 Camera PC setup
tomcctv replied to BBKingAdrock's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
you are best looking at getting 15 fps with good recording quality. remember fps has nothing to do with quality of footage. as far as building your own dvr. and if you have not done it before i would just buy a good hybrid system which will give you the option to up-grade later to ip cameras. you are looking at 24 cameras then you need two 16 cards and that alone willl eat away at $2000. then your H/drives and also cost of pc. build or buy is your choice. too options. http://www.avermedia-usa.com/surveillance/productdetail.aspx?id=33 http://www.avermedia-usa.com/surveillance/productdetail.aspx?id=62 -
