not for reading licence plates. the camera listed had ir which will wipe out the numbers at night. plus the lens is not good enough. if all you are looking for is 2 cameras then i would look at the mobotix for your needs. you will not need a dvr then. and they turn b/w at night for better res and will pic up numbers look at ip demo cameras on this site.

Help with system in Scranton, Pa.
tomcctv replied to pjkovie's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
i saw this post this morning but was leaving before i could post anything. just what i was going to surgest as thewireguys are in your area give them a call. This will save time and money. this forum is a very powerful port to finding the best cctv solution but it is very hard to give advice over the forum without seeing the install and as thewireguys are in PA. not only with you joining the forum for advice it has also given you a installer on you doorstep. -
yes the avermedia does accept alarm inputs but you are best of running it on the cm3000 software if you are thinking of running two eb1304. this will let you have all 8 on one screen and you can keep adding 4 ways. cm3000 is a free down load from avermedia. H/drives onboard 1 tr or like most avers including the new 4 ways you can add external raid. plus also record from the cm3000 software (about 3-4 fps off site) and you also get the iMatrix software with avers which also lets you config screen set-up

who is your isp in the uk. and what port have you set ???
-
just pm you an ip to see demo. let me know what you think.

have used a couple very good image. i just wish they would not fit the fly lead out of the back of the camera. if you wanted to come out of the conduit plugs you have to buy a new fly lead. i will send you a ip address i will leave it open for 12hrs so you can see how good they are. all outdoors are vbm 24 the internal are all vbp 5314 550tvl

Requesting Comments on Security Cameras for Condo
tomcctv replied to MiamiRob's topic in Security Cameras
i have just done a full costing on all the cameras you have listed and i would question the price and also requst a full spec sheet. the first problem i see is a cctv company would not use a bullit camera in a elevator. this should be a vandal dome or a purpose elevator camera. also your ptz cameras are only 18x zoom. which for the area seem to have a small zoom. also you have not put in if they are using redwall sensors for your ptz which is a major piece of kit with using so many ptz. i am with rory on get another quote because the cameras you have quoted are over 3 years old and i know sunkwang or as called now huviron have stoped making one of the cameras listed -
Requesting Comments on Security Cameras for Condo
tomcctv replied to MiamiRob's topic in Security Cameras
the speco cameras are re named. and are a bit out dated as the company released new models over 12 months ago. they seem to be to many dome cameras which will only give you 10 to 15m ir lighting at night. and you dont mention any lighting for your ptz cameras Everfocus are a very good camera but without lighting at night. is your price $350.000 in cluding the $75.000 for conduit work and also what dvr will thay be installing. i am a little suprised for the size of your system that they have not gone ip or at leased hybrid to expand at a later date -
its a sharp chipset, how high spec can it be ??? sure hes asking for a reversing camera, but his use is outside what the industry can be bothered making. maybe its a kiwi thing. if they don't make it, build it ! i would rather he know what hes getting in for rather than just get pawned off with what ever is on the shelf and end up being disappointed. especially if he picks the right camera, he can simply pop the cover off and swap the lens to something that suits his needs. Tweak. outside of his needs. crap have you used one. its high spec the picture quality and field of view is A1. like i said its fitted to RVs worth thousand of dollars. find the solution for the customer not make the customer fit the solution so lets buy a reversing camera take it apart change lens put back together 2 months down the line water gets in blows the camera oooooohhhh customer has no warranty so tweak you buy cameras fitt for the job.

Upgrading a system with sound for a Kennel operation
tomcctv replied to LoneWolf's topic in System Design
your dvr is not a watchdog system. peal the sticker off and it will say delta-wave. they stopped making them 4 years ago. jpeg 2000. for a 16 way avtech that price looks well to low. why dont you pm scorpion he is the avtech master on the forum -
because the wheel doesn't fit. what are you going to see with the image distortion, poor distance perspective, with it mounted at a distance and on a 4" screen? not enough to be worth the $$$ even for cheap one. they are generally design for seeing things like kids behind the vehicle. or backing into a tight car space. camera is usually on bumper ie close. for that use they work fine. i would also go for sony over sharp. you don't need high res, 380 will be fine, its being able to get clear view in different light thats important. one thing like about mine is being able to look into the dark garage that you can't normally see into. Tweak. the poor guy came on here for advice for a revesing camera. not on how to build one. the camera i posted is not an ebay crap and it is very high spec. plus he can return it. we have gone from a good quality revesing camera advice. to the guy having to build his own (he is not a engineer) SOUNDY gave good advice about ebay, i gave good advice on a camera that are installed on rvs costing over $$$$$$$$
-
why try to reinvent the wheel. this camera is built for the job and has a very good spec and its not from crap ebay. and for your type of vehicle up top is far better than a bumper cam. http://www.rockyamericas.com/usa/products/surface_mount_rear_view_camera_087.html

Upgrading a system with sound for a Kennel operation
tomcctv replied to LoneWolf's topic in System Design
if the dvr is working fine and you have no problems with it dont change it. how many places do you need to hear sound. and were are you ??? -
buying a camera then chaging the lens is not a good idea you need the camera to be water proof and also air tight. plus were you need to mount it you want a good steel camera these are not a bad camera can evan have sound. http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rockyamericas.com/usa/pic/cw086Gal.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rockyamericas.com/usa/hotDeals.html&usg=__4samyX_slDRRTIoCKvT0fb2h-0Y=&h=325&w=325&sz=40&hl=en&start=191&um=1&tbnid=9UGmBaBE53wVfM:&tbnh=118&tbnw=118&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dreversing%2Bcamera%2Busa%26ndsp%3D21%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:*:IE-SearchBox%26sa%3DN%26start%3D189%26um%3D1

Upgrading a system with sound for a Kennel operation
tomcctv replied to LoneWolf's topic in System Design
Hi kevin. you might be able to get away with filters on your dome cameras if it is just a light problem. as far as sound looking at the spec it will take 4 mics. -
both cameras you have posted and both will do the job you need. both cameras will be colour in the day and switch to b/w at night then your ir will come on. both the cameras are made as reverse cameras so i would not bother looking at lens types.

Question about IP camera Trendnet
tomcctv replied to tanmaysnv's topic in General Digital Discussion
the software looks ok not used them myself if you are getting it for a good price give it ago. http://trendnet.com/products/features.asp?featureid=34 -
the camera you posted is ideal for your needs. it is built for just your purpose. and the other good thing about the camera you posted is you have the flip picture mode. makes it a good reversing camera.

also remember portforward the pos on router to be a little faster on remote view.

£750 is not a bad starting price for an 8 port.
