Looking for camera for project
tomcctv replied to AlejandroARG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. Running this type of service from your home needs a lot of cash ….. a lot more than you would get from subscribers then you have the personal data problems that run along side will you be controlling the main server of the m2m …. A lot of the iot is licenced and still under copyright so that’s another cost -
Hi. It sounds like you are using a power supply with battery backup which is not the same as a UPS also you need to take into account the amp demand of your dvr ….. which is why it is always supplied with its own power supply …. It uses more amps than your camera
-
Hi. Not good practice to use power supply that runs cameras to power your dvr it needs to be separate

Please advice which Hikvision 4MP I should buy (DS or HiWatch)
tomcctv replied to Tom28pl's topic in Security Cameras
This is why I asked h265+ is hikvision own encoding so if your developing your own software True H265 is the way to go that way you can use any brand of camera. hiwatch is hikvision but it is there budget range and may only work h265+ I do know hikvision will do 265+ and 265 And can use on most NVRs so the DS rang might be the best for you Ai as you can mix many manufacturers cameras -
Powering multiple Hikvision IP cams
tomcctv replied to Bazzospain's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi. You will need to also install a Poe switch this will also power your cameras …. So it’s a cat5 from switch to each camera we use these and never failed https://www.amazon.com/BV-Tech-Switch-Ethernet-Uplink-Function/dp/B075G2PM17/ref=mp_s_a_1_17?dchild=1&keywords=poe+switch&qid=1627600190&sr=8-17 -

Power supply ring for wireless / wifi
tomcctv replied to Newbie John's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. No point having a return ….. 12v dc is pointless I can see your set on doing it this way but it’s going to give you problems from day 1 In cctv it is always best to keep power to each camera (interrupted power supply) and reason is a faulty camera will not pass electrical problems onto another camera that has no problems -
Power supply ring for wireless / wifi
tomcctv replied to Newbie John's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. No. Each camera is protected via a 2amp power supply which is a bit more than its needs connect it to a 10amp then if a camera has a problem it has no protection … could over heat and even catch fire same as a fuse in a circuit board …… 2 amp fuse protects it …….. put a 20amp fuse and fuse won’t blow so damages circuit board and you never do a low voltage ring but there are different ways to run cameras but not many options with wireless what system was you looking at -
Power supply ring for wireless / wifi
tomcctv replied to Newbie John's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Hi. 12v 2amp ……. The 2amp side is protection for each camera …… so you will not have any protection on each camera if your using 10amp power supply in a ring also Wi-Fi systems are a bit deceiving….. it’s a wireless signal to dvr also known as a proprietary system you can’t use another brand camera how many cameras are you installing -
Please HELP! Cameras stuck in CVBS mode
tomcctv replied to techie996's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Ok we don’t seam to be getting anywhere your camera does not send data to recorder only it’s video output your recorder controls camera via data your installer must only be part time …….. Split between McDonald’s and installing because sending cameras back to dahua for reset is crap ……. Posting to China you also have to pay post back to you adds up to 5 time the cost of a 5mp analog camera so makes no sense When you did a reset did the settings stay the same while cameras were not connected there are many reasons and fixes to your problem another one is your units password….. who set it up for you -
Please HELP! Cameras stuck in CVBS mode
tomcctv replied to techie996's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Sorry but that is bull. The dvr controls the cameras not the other way round You also might of set recorder out of range ( video output) which is also a setting in your menu having this set wrong will only allow you to use CVBS which is 960h been dealing with dahua over 15 years and never had a camera that won’t change and I know dahua does not reset cameras and you will not find anyone on any forum sending cameras back to reformat you also have a factory reset in your menu …. Use that ……. But disconnect all cameras first -

tomcctv replied to techie996's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hi you can change camera format in camera settings on dvr and on some dahua you can click bottom left on each camera screen to alter format are you also using a joystick -
I’ll pm you a different app to use ….. better than going with a China server do do anything with the app till you have loaded it
-
Hi I was going through how to set you up and was not finished you now need to go into network settings again and switch off DHCP to stop your IP address from changing ….. this is why it changed to 192.168.1.191 which mobile and you using apple or android
-
Ok if you go into app and add a device enter this as IP address 192.168.1.63 name … call it home username and password are same as your dvr
-
Yes that’s how it should be ….. which app did you use ?
-
Ok from your pictures we will start again BUT I don’t want you to mention ID at all as you go though the process…. ID has nothing to do with your unit and that’s an old unit go into network settings again on your recorder. Then down to dhcp enabled and switch it to ON then switch off your unit …. Then switch off your router …. Wait 10 seconds then switch router back on wait 5 mins for router to boot up then switch on your recorder go back into menu network on recorder and post what numbers have changed
