    What is happening here? Help?

Ok let’s go middle …. 100ft. cable runs are important to determine power yes your cameras will run 2 cameras at 2amp 1 5 amp power gives a total of 4amps used …… sounds right except no account is made for power surge when ir kicks in and filter move or length of cable just giving a extra .5 or .7 amp. Takes you over 5amp. …….. max rating of power supply also other reasons for your problem is how you split up your cat 5 for power spitting up solid colours for + and white stripe for - ……. Also gives that problem never split cat5. So should be something like this brown / brown white ….. for + green / green white for - baluns could also be a problem ….. no such thing as a HD balun or 8mp balun baluns have one purpose to convert cable not recorder of camera only cable 100ohm cable is cat5 balun is used to convert to 75ohm. Cctv standard does not matter if old analog or HD 8 mp any balun will work

    What is happening here? Help?

Hi. Spec are never reliable 0.5 amp you will find it is around 2amp with cameras with ir and with your camera distance 120ft you will also have power drop Disconnect one of the cameras you have on the problem power supply and see if the camera left has a better night image

Use existing cameras with new DVR

Hi. Kk84a are 960h analog depending on the type of Swann 4980 is a HD unit and not backward compatible

    System Update

Ok I found a US links to your dvr it’s a hybrid $2.999 but all 3 sites have reduced it to $1.400 that’s a knock down of $1.599 mans that will be performance problems No ….. I have delt with dahua for over 10 years you need an account for sales and ftp hardware site. The problem with any standalone dvr is they will run without any hard drive. hard drive is only needed for storage not recorder control. The BIOS does not support Ai it will only run as a standard drive you can’t swap any dvr hard drive and insert a Ai drive and call the old system a Ai system

    Qvis Apollo

Hi. It depends on how old your Apollo is. when you go into menu do you see a line that says guide? for mobile or pads there is another app to use

    System Update

Ok still not need Using Ai hard drive in a standalone lynx it only reverts to a normal drive Yes your right it is a dahua and that’s we’re your problem starts it’s not Ai it s 5mp only max ….. so it’s down grading your 8mp to 5mp it does not support Ai hard drives so it’s running them as standard (Ai drives only work on windows) same with Ai cameras if your recorder is no Ai then you can’t set cameras up ….. they just run as HD analog $5.500 you have been ripped off and you need to question your supplier as to why Is a 5 year old unit ….. yes it has facial recognition but that’s far from being Ai

    System Update

hi. I wish you had used forum first. also looking at your list ….. your first mistake is going 32 way when only using 16 cameras a 32 only does 1 to 5 fps for 8mp (4K) which is useless cameras must be Ai along with a Ai recorder or Tioc which is dahua Ai range. Sounds like you have been a salesman’s dream There is no point or reason why you would use a Ai drive in a standalone dvr …. It is built into dvr and camera Ai drive is used for pc …. Plus dahua 32 only takes 2 10tb hard drives and with the dvr being h265 that basically turns a 10tb hard drive into 20tb so only two 10tb gives you 40tb …… enough recording for 8 months why do you also need a 10g switch with bnc system ? while typing this I logged into dahua trade 16 way recorder full Ai full 4K with 16 motorized Ai Tioc 4K cameras less than half your budget and that from dahua direct

    Audio recording

Hi. This falls under wiretap laws and is not the same for cctv ….. shops … gas stations… bars are classed as public space so can’t record voice

    Indoor surveillance camera

Hi. You would be better using a IP camera which takes a SD card you can then either remove SD card to view footage ….. which is better than usb link to load on to pen but you can also log into camera over your local network and view the SD card that way

    Qvis Apollo

Hi the Apollo is from factory set to read/write yes if you format you will loose existing footage …. But it will sort out bad segments which gives faults write ……. Records till hard drive full recover ….. same as write but can playback read/write…… keeps recording its deletes the oldest files to make space for new so you should always have 2 weeks of footage we’re are you based

    Qvis Apollo

Hi. To see if it is your hard drive …. Yes format it first then also tick in management read/write If you only had it set to read only before then your hard drive is not faulty read will stop your hard drive once full ….. giving the impression hard drive is faulty

    Colourvu LED Light Issue

Hi. It’s a 12 year old dvr ( not hik) your problem is you have a camera that is backward compatible with your dvr but only as analog to switch off light or make changes or go to camera menu you need to be on a HD analog dvr which takes cvi or tvi cameras
  15. Hi Good to see your doing your homework rj45 to f- connected is like wiring a plug socket with a hosepipe…. Not compatible but you can buy a hybrid recorder that takes ip and analog or just buy a HD analog system …. There is no difference now between ip and analog
  16. Hi. Ptz cameras from eBay don’t come with much warranty also something else for you to consider is seeing this Motion detection on a ptz is pointless (it moves) human detection works but you want cars and people are you just using it to watch your gate or will you be setting up a tour of your property as well …… ptz can also take a signal from your existing cameras to move it when another camera detects movement if your only looking at your gate have you thoughts about a fixed motorised lens camera but in the uk your looking at around £300 for a good ptz with auto tracking and colour night
  17. Hi. Sounds like the wrong type of injector also what type of plug-in power did you use needs to be at least 12v 5amp which wire standard did you use for the rj45 thats a big PTZ and needs a lot of power when ir is in (smart ir) also what length is cable to camera

    Audio recording

Hi. For years this has been discussed many times but it is down to common sense as cameras are a second pair of eyes for evidence collecting. audio is also as valuable take a small shop with 8 internal cameras there is no point collecting audio of all the shop…… people’s conversations are private… but the camera at checkout with audio is important……. Did cashier ask for ID when selling alcohol or tobacco to underage or in a takeaway…… racism to staff from bad customers ….. without audio they have nothing in a industrial workplace audio should never be used on staff because there is no need also in any environment audio should never go to the monitor it should only be available after burning off….. that way no one can listen to private conversation not only audio but ICO also have regulations on monitors that a lot of uk install companies ignore monitors in public areas in stores and work spaces can not show any other cameras other than one camera at monitor location public can’t watch say 16 cameras in a store it’s a data protection and ICO law yet you see it all the time

    poe switch

Hi. Switches have moved on a lot since that Cisco made. It’s used …. Low data ….. under powered i have been using BV switches for years and never had a problem pass through network sockets extender POE boost switch for longer cable runs also will run a ptz camera on one channel which the Cisco can’t do here is a link to a new Poe switch and much better for a few $s more https://www.ebay.com/itm/391928168402?_trkparms=aid%3D1110006%26algo%3DHOMESPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D231964%26meid%3Db9e4796b604e4d2e838e5949e6c5f97b%26pid%3D100935%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dgp%26sd%3D363381668937%26itm%3D391928168402%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2332490%26algv%3DSimplAMLv9PairwiseUnbiasedWeb%26brand%3DBV-Tech&_trksid=p2332490.c100935.m2460

    Old analog system upgrade

Hi for a system that will do 4K cameras 8 way Poe nvr with 4 2mp cameras is around £410 to add another 4 cameras you need to workout if you want a camera with audio …. These are good for cameras at front door area i am only says 4 to start with because you need to check your cat5 cables from power unit installing yourself is easy but you need the tools and a network tester what I would do next is make up the cable ends and test them all to determine amount of cameras here are some tools you need https://www.screwfix.com/p/philex-network-cable-tester/93219 https://www.screwfix.com/p/rj45-crimping-tool-8-200mm/30318 https://www.screwfix.com/p/philex-rj45-8p-8c-connectors-100-pack/32033 wire diagram

    Old analog system upgrade

Hi. Ok now all makes sense…. There is another box somewhere…….. which is joining coax to cat 5. Used to be called utp splitter this stop you using the coax that is connected to your vms box and also prevents you using HD analog without doing extra cable work. but the cat5 cable going to your power supply can be used and infact makes your job easier but you will have to install a ip system and not analog and this will also do away with that old power supply ………. Ip Poe systems don’t need extra power will you be installing your self ?

    Old analog system upgrade

Hi. Looking at your camera picture you have two cat5 connected its hard to try and sort out with photos can you also take cover off power supply and take a picture looking at what is posted ….. you have a 100ohm system ( which matched the age of the system ) you also have cables missing at the VSM location because your cameras show audio connection (old cameras would loop in out each cam) giving 1 audio channel At the moment using your existing cables is not a option let’s look in power supply
