Which DVR card?
tomcctv replied to caracortada_uk's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
then i would look at the aver nv3000t. but add the card / hard drive / sound card / and the nano is cheaper and faster. -
it will be 30fps @ CIF if youre getting that much storage from 1tb

Geo needs to sort themselfs out. if Geo dont stop and take alook at what everyone else is doing in the market then they are going to see a big drop in there products. for a company to charge for the likes of using POS / other manufactures ip cameras/ and even for tech to check if the Geo card you are using is legit. is bad marketing

Which DVR card?
tomcctv replied to caracortada_uk's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Hi if you are only looking at 2 to 4 cameras then i would just look at a DVR. not much in the price for a card or DVR like there was. this is a good price. with full anything viewer can even record to ipad and iphone. http://surveillance.aver.com/product/embedded-hybrid-DVR-EH1004H-4-Nano -
New SONY HD Hybrid over Coax
tomcctv replied to Megapixelman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
1.3mp HD-SDI is around the same price. it is a good cost effective way when using existing coax to get HD results. camera manufacturers are moving ahead. its the DVR manufacturers that need to keep upto pace. -
i think we are getting comfused as to which method you are using to connect. i was talking of the TCP method which is done via your LAN. to which you dont use the pos box.

IR floodlights VS. regular flood lights? which is better ?
tomcctv replied to Toaster's topic in Security Cameras
you are right birdman. with the likes of lowes and home depo. they just sell cheap floods with PIR. we just buy floods and add a PIR sensor. we buy from this company and have used them for years GJD. they have good long range PIR for around $50. they even do a good unit that works with the mothion alarm on a DVR and is wireless to the flood. http://gjd.co.uk/?id=cctv -
At this picture, a Surveillance camera or something else?

IR floodlights VS. regular flood lights? which is better ?
tomcctv replied to Toaster's topic in Security Cameras
Hi toaster. Regular flood is fine and good to use. there are many things you can do with flood lighting to keep running costs down. were we need flood lighting we use a flood called the ECO light or you can replace the 300w or 500w tube like this. and use a low cost fitting like this. or if you can find one (as they are new to the flood market) a flood replacement LED fitting. cost a few $ a year to run. -
hi. with avtech you only need the firmware if you are having problems. if your not and its under warranty i would leave your dvr as it is.

CNB i have used alot of. we have also been using the qvis domes. Winner 5DSP 600TVL 2.8-1mm Lens and the VAN-2604VFHWH-SF both of which are cheaper than the CNB also no messing with baluns (as built in RJ45 connection)

outdoor camera - strange "box"
tomcctv replied to matusiam's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
you will see lots of installs like that. (camera and junction box) you even see installers doing it with full body cameras (guess they never thought about just running cables direct to housing) but on small cameras where you cant do the cable termination inside the camera then a JB next to the camera is an option. -
HI. your problem is two differant methods of PTZ control. your existing is Coaxitron. and your joystick. if you are just replacing your old PTZ for the new one. then just replace the joystick controller (no rs485) if you are looking at using both then you can get a converter to run your new camera. but adding a second joystick is much cheaper.
-
to be fair that is an old artical before WDR was used in ip
-
Hi. no you should be ok with baluns at DVR end with the Transceiver. if your cables dont exceed the limit distance.

What is the Future of CCTV for North America? US, CAN, LATIN
tomcctv replied to emholic's topic in General Digital Discussion
Hi. emholic. i think you have started a good topic which is not just limited to the americas. in the UK this has also just started to be a discusion. wifi-ip-wireless being the main problems of the future for CCTV. we have just seen the report on the hurricane that hit parts of america (you can read on google) NY did a network shut down in parts of the city (to stop others broadcasting from the likes of traffic land street cams) this also blocked out the likes of femma who wanted to monitor parts of the city. the same thing happend at JFK airport 2 years ago. in a training exercise when the airport goes on high alert things like wifi and network shut down. and JFK found that this also shut down 43% of there IP cameras. that is on a big scale. but you also have to look at the little stores or homes that use offsite recording. the same will happen there. Fiber. will always be around and can be addapted to any transmision. wifi and external network. works but can be switched off by a source you have no control over. coax and local network. is the safest no third part to shut down (except power company) but still always best to have local recordings on every system -

how to integrate unknown camera
tomcctv replied to teegold's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
many cameras are now built with baluns inside and only use a RJ45 connector. are your cameras just on the house with nothing going to them.??? any cables going to a location in the house ?? -
seems like a lot of bother when a controller is only $30 -$40 and it stays on the dvr end so you can adjust any time. http://www.hunters-trade.co.uk/product_thumb.php?img=productimages/zrc.jpg&w=130&h=117

you can buy a controller for that camera. but if you dont do much samsung work it might be better to see if your supplier can rent you one. its called SCX-RD100 controller.
