customer has signed up just in early December and yes he was charged an extra 50 euro to get a static ip.. im gonna reset both router and dvr back to default settings and start from freash now that i have a clearer idea of what to do.. i had a feeling that i was on right track originally Dont do a hard reset on the router. they are factory for eircom you may loose isp settings from eircom and that will be another 50euros just change your settings. are you on cable or phone line ???

we seam to be talking about differant cameras here i thought the first post was for a REG-X which can not give you a number plate at 18% the REG-X is for close work only 5-7m max giving you 120% as seen on the bosh site. we dont get are cameras from bosh are cameras come from our CNB distributor. if you are looking for a camera for 18% then it would need to be REG-L1 to reach 35m but the price for that will be $2000 plus and for a camera that ONLY gives a number plate and not colour or make of car is a waste of money if not used how it was intended. For $2000 you could use 4 of the CNB cameras http://www.videcon.co.uk/product_details.php?StockID=1203&l1=3&l2=23 and have money left over that will do just the same but give you also what cctv is all about video evidence with as much detail as possable

subnet 225.225.225.0 is this right. also if you are using a eircom supplied router i would change that also. i take it you are in ireland with using eircom ??? has your customer only just signed up with eircom or have they been with them for sometime. a static ip for 50euro $100 is stupid money. for a company that give you something a little faster than dial-up as all routers are factory set for eircom no set-up needed you may find parts of it are locked. you will get passed this buy replaceing the router

    Recording Period and Backup

like soundy says it depends on your location country. here in the uk it is 30 days and then overwrite. but on every install we would also tell the customer that any incident should be burned off and then stored on disk this will save any problems later.

automated license plate recognition is not the same as ALPR which in true terms means AUTOMATIC LICENCE PLATE RECOGNITION also known as anpr. the cameras dont see numbers its a very powerful algorithm set to read plates from upto a mile away and at speeds of over 100mph and your looking at $15.000 each. information from a ANPR camera licence number colour and make owners details tag check outstanding fines insured or not persons wanted.
  8. Thanks for the reply. I don't understand why I would need to leave an analog slot open on the Avermedia card if I am using the Vivotek server software to record the IP camera. Can you please shed some light on this? Thanks. the avers will run your ip camera its a hybrid card so 3 standard cameras and 1 ip you could use the nv3000 you dont need the vivotex software. list of ip cameras ... not on list can be added in 24hrs http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Upload/FAQ/NV_NX_NXU_SA_XR_IWH%20IP%20Camera%20Support%20List_V5.0.0.77_1224.pdf

LPR and ALPR (anpr) are not the same cameras miles apart from the way they function. bosh use the term ALPR only for the software that there LPR cameras work with (data base for opening gates)
  10. yes you can but you would need an 8 way system ...... or a 4 way only using 3 standard cameras and 1 ip. if you are looking at 5 cameras i would look at the nv5000 card with an extenion.
  11. what make of dvr are you using ??
  12. you still need to focus the camera as normal. page 7 is what the connections are for http://www.norbain.co.uk/downloads/manuals/Standard_protos_multi_lingual.pdf
  13. Yeah Thats what I mentioned in my previous post. Though I havent used it and was wondering how well it works if there is alot of motion in the video? Do you guys use it outside as well? Its not a bad price, can even pick it up right in the US and for alot less than the Camera Master. motion does give problems but just hit the reset button and start again. yes we use it ouitside for short and long range. how much have you found it for. here its just under $500. £265
  14. we use these ......... when serviceing ............ handheld monitors are good but you never get the sweet spot.

  18. what i meant by that was i'll ask on another forum until somebody knows more about cheap generic cards and can point me to a card that will function properly. all cards function this is not your problem. your problem is what you are going to use to make it function (PC) its to old so you will need old software an old card and then you will be on a old O/S. like already said for the money a nv3000 avers card is good for its money but your PC will have to have at least the following. if not just go and buy a standalone unit. CPU: Pentium 43.0 GHz or higher OS: Windows 2000/ XP (32 bit)/ Vista (32 bit)/7 (32/64 bit) RAM: 512MB HDD : 80GB or higher CD-RM/DVD-RM Graphic Card: 32-bit high color SVGA graphics card with 64MB video memory and DirectDraw / YUV Rendering Capability 10/100 Base-T Ethernet card Sound card and speaker

most dvrs will auto reboot now. the problem you are going to have is what make to use. and i will go back to the bosh camera again. am reading the spec for the camera and the engineers set-up dvr should record 2cif or 4cif ............ the camera will not work with D1 and will need to run 30fps. this system design is going to cost a lot of money if it was your own then yes TRY it out. but upto now nothing matches the camera and dvrs that have been listed are not compatible. and also the points of the camera being stolen or damaged. this is only because you have to mount it low because of the type of camera you are using. no camera should be installed in arms reach. What DVR do you recommend? (version 3.0) What is the effective difference between 4CIF and D1? Why will 4CIF work but D1 not work? If he goes with an EB1304 SATA for about $350 then he had 60fps D1 and can set the LPR channel to 30fps, and the car ID channel to 30fps, leaving the other 2 channels unused. You can't jsut keep saying "This DVR won't work, that DVR won't work..." without telling us which DVR you think *will* work. the reason is the EB1304 net is only 15fps on each camera, and the other reason is it has not been made for 2 years. it was replaced by the EB3004 net and replaced again by the EB3004net plus. why not to use D1 .............. because it says in the manual for the camera dont use D1 as artifacts (datalace) will result in bad image. cif is recommended. with good bitrate. the SEB 3104 is a much faster dvr 30fps on all 4. looking at the drawing of the camera placement . the max is 7m bosh say from 4 to 7m 30fps is needed by the time the camera is set-up in the area needed from the picture it already looks like it will be 5 m away from its target ......... giving only 2m left and a car going 30-40 miles. bosh are saying it will pick up a number plate at 50miles between 4 and 7m at 30fps. its going to be a hit a miss with that camera. and the youtube video is daytime that is how that camera works everything is black except number plates.

Have you used a Dahua DVR? How is it the same price when the EB1304 SATA+ costs twice the price at ALL US Distributors? And what features? The EB1304NET barely had any, the SATA+ doesnt appear to be much different. the EB1304 net is a 4 year old unit (blue steel case) the sata and plus was a much faster dvr but again stopped 12 months ago. have a try of the new SEB or EB3004 plus

Ive used the EB1304NET and wouldnt again, especially at the price. Not sure if they changed it yet, but no motion masking. Evidence Sharing is mediocre at best. Network client and browser app is rubbish. Its a basic DVR at a big price, you are better off with a Dahua DVR for half the price and 10 times the features sorry rory you need to go buy an avers again .......... same price as Dahua and in features it kills the Dahua.

EB1304 has not been made for a long time ........... and remember any thing avers make shure you have net at the end i.e eb1304 net. or it will not be networkable. the new replacement is the eb3004net-plus. but i would look at the SEB it is a lot faster in fps http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=232
  23. so i take it that not too many people on here have cheap generic cards? I don't see why i couldn't get a cheap one to work if i had good software and correct drivers. I'll keep asking around on different places till i find someone say i can get it to work. I don't want to be a guinea pig, if i plan to spend $20 on a cheap card, its to save money, not to waste it. to be honest j4str if you are going to spend $20 on a card you have already started to waste your money. dont think buying cheap cards and using good software will improve the card because it will not
