thats the problem with sale mans videos ..................looks good .................hit with a bat set fire. ran over with a car. great........................thats just the caseing .............first hit with the hammer will kill the camera lens

the probem is the REG-X-816-XE it is very short range. max is 7m. looking at the drawings the camera will already be at its max just to get to the road. say its 4m to the road that leaves 3m. the dvr will have to be 30fps just to get one image. and i think 9 out of 10 it will miss. remember this is a black image camera it only does licence plates everything else is black. this camera is only good at close up work 4 to 7m max. putting a $1000 camera onto a $300 dvr is just not going to work.

i think this post has gone way off base . and has major problems. to the point it is going to be a waste of money. both the camera and the dvr specs dont match. it never works putting a good res camera with a budget dvr. remember that camera is designed only to pick licence plates .... it will not give you the original colour of the car. and in your application i think you need more that just trying to catch the licence plate. say they remove the plate or cover it up. your system is usless. i would go back to a good box camera get as much detail info of any car in the area this way you will get more info as poss. 1, licence plate (with a good lens) 2, colour of car 3, marks on car i.e stickers / type of wheels / bumps dents all of which help

the REG-X-816-XE is a close range camera no good for what you need max view is only 7m. max used for carpark enty and exits. looking at your drawing you need a lot more than 7m

Hi birdman. would it not be possable to run a cable from the house to the camera. it would be far better that getting mains power out to the pole to run camera and dvr. plus it will make it better to remove footage. and i would also look at the position of the camera. i would look at it pointing down your road and not up. the reason is cars will be slowing down as they turn in or out of the road giving you a much better chance of getting a plate at a slower speed. another camera i would take a look at is a pixim. http://www.icrealtime.com/solutions/cameras.asp?cameraid=EL411PIXIM#specs

i am using windows vista 32bit. i have tried the usb with the exfat and fat32 still i get the same error message on my dvr, im not sure what to do now because i am worried if somthing happens then i will not be able to back it up. i have just used the tool above and that only gives me the options of fat32 or ntfs, anyway ill put it back to fat32 with this and will let you know how it goes, (also just remembered i think i chose the quick format option for the exfat, ill try both the fat32 and exfat as a full format next) thanks anyway what make of dvr do you have.

Hi birdman. you will find it hard to get plates with dome cameras . you need 50m lens and also your dvr needs to have good fps look for something with 12 or above fps . you might have a speed limit on your road but bad guys dont stick to it. you do need good res and good fps for licence plates. i am a big user of CNB and the only time we dont use them is when we need good long range or for licence plates. and this is one of the best at both. http://www.koreacctv.com/eng/product/product_view.php?ac_id=65&ai_id=588

First of all, it uses a standard IDE harddrive, that cost about $35, and who talked about using money on the harddrive? The viewing software (wavereader) works even on windows 7! wavereader does work on windows 7 your right. on the latest vista or supported units. the VC16Te-320 came out in 2004 and stopped 2007 no support after 2008. if you can find an old version of wavereader 2006-7 then you can do your set-up though your pc. with you saying pal ... i thought you was in the uk. if you are using the dvr for a store then the HD is not big enough and also 1.5 fps across 16 channels is also bad for any shop or store in the uk. you good if its for your own home

yes it is. and you can also hide buttons to stop customers playing. if you pm me your email ill tell you how ......... remove logo and also add your own.
-
norbain have not sold that unit in a long time. dont spend money on this unit its just too old. H/D will cost a fortune and the viewing software is windows 98. you could email the manufactures to see if they will reflash it for you (you will need to send the unit) but i think they will say the same. info@vista-cctv.com

Why, If the dvr can handle the NTSC signal ? From what I can understand (I'm a newbie in cctv field) the NTSC signal will flow between the camera and the DVR, and then the video output from Vga or ethernet, has nothing to do with NTSC. This was an "advice" of the store sales rep glf. the problem is not the dvr most will offer both. its with you buying both NTSC cameras. your going to be recording in NTSC how are you going to view footage once off the dvr. buy a player from the money you saved buying NTSC. what happends if you need to get your footage into court or to the police. ????

PC Based or DVR unit. I have the cameras already. Pls assist
tomcctv replied to knezz's topic in System Design
Should, but does not with most DVRs I have seen. For example with a DVR such as GeoVision which has both options, the Mpeg4 compression is better quality than the H.264. seen that myself rory. the problem is the type of h264... h264 AVC has been around for years and still used by many dvr companys to which MPEG-4 is miles better. if you want true h264 (MPEG-4 part 10) H.264SVC (Scalable Video Coding) standard in November 2007, which provides some unique efficiency for CCTV applications -
