  2. Pearwood. you get what you pay for ............. can i interest you in this
  3. Hi billchad. you have a freeview set top box and like soundy has said you will not get a picture though it onto your screen and as far as using a rf modulator..... this also will not work as the settop box will not see channels that low. remember a set top box is digital and will not accept a anolog picture direct. it may be better for you to find an old 24hr timelaps video recorder

1st post - advice wanted for home setup

Sorry Tom .. but I beg to differ .. I do not know Maplins as I m from Singapore .. But I have handled enough AVTech systems to say that the mentioned system is good enough for basic usage. It does fulfills all except the detects only on motion .. there's a way to configure that .. but I usually leave it as the default now since Hard Disk are so cheap. A 500GB HDD shld be enough to record for more than a mth given that he needs only 3 cameras. AVTech systems work very well with iPhones with the EagleEyes iPhone Apps i also use AVTech.............. the problem is. maplins are resellers of returned equipment. they also us adds to get people into there store. but everything is box sets ............ not a good way to buy.

Vertical Pole Mount to Horizontal Beam

Hi.mastervision. we use alot of a product called unistrut. for both cameras and monitors. http://www.unistrut.co.uk/index.php?M1=Support%20Systems&M2=Beam%20Clamps
  6. Pearwood....... hold on a minute in your last post you said CCTV is not rocket science. can you not get hold of the tech line on ebay to replace your card. if it does not work and its from ebay ...... what the hell do you think you can do with it. oh yes buying clone cards have you wasted money mmmmmmmmmmm yes i think so ...................
  7. well go on then ebay is a good place for you to start. if thats what you want to do. i dont think you understand cctv. or you would not have started this post. it sounds like you want to buy crap and turn it into a top end. and that cant happen
  8. pirated or cloned cards cause problems ...... first you have no support at all. how are you going to look after your customers if the card in the first place is crap ............ plus let me ask you ............ do you sell your cloned card systems cheap ... i bet you dont and not only that you are not a pro at your work you want to make money by selling crap
  9. Hi EOD. i till say get a pro in ......even just to look at what you are intending to do. from what i can see from your two posts you have a ptz and it is coaxial. a coaxial ptz is a old type of ptz all your data/power/ video is down the coax to a control unit. if you have the control unit (not the ptz controller) then you might get it to work. but if you dont have the control unit that comes with the camera. then you are best buying a new ptz its cheaper.

    CCTV Cameras Grainy Picture

have you just installed your Dedicated Micros or is this something that has happend in time.
  11. Hi EOD. just trying to talk someone though installing 1 ptz is hard enough over the forum. but you have a mix of ptzs. your best thing is to get a local guy in who knows ptzs. it will save you money in the end run.

No video, but camera leds are on?

in the uk that is known as a unregulated power supply. not a good psu for your cameras. you need to change it for a 4 way regulated. DANtech is a good make

    Avermedia with AV8180

Hi yes it will only use 4 channels of the dvr. it will not do panoramic. another camera to look at is the mobotix q24
  15. Hi. Atomicmule. you are not the only person who is having problems with the maplins crap. i think they will pay out before you get them to court. a good replacment would be the avermedia eb3004 net. it will do everything you need.
  16. Hi redjoe. not much you can do with how the swann usb operates. (factory set) but what i would do is get hold of a external H/D for your laptop and have all your dvr files go to that. this will free up your laptop H/D
  17. Hi omer78. one thing i would say is stay away from you dvr you have listed. but your make of cameras is good. but with your cameras being so low i would look at CNB V/domes. using bullet cameras that low is not a good idea as the brackets are not very good on bullet cameras. were are you (if your looking for pal ) because with that sun in your pictures your not in the uk .... looks like spain ???

    Looking for budget DVR

the DM is built in the uk. but the 4 way avermedia is a much better dvr and half the price. like all DMs you are paying for the name. take a look at the avermedia eb3004net.

1st post - advice wanted for home setup

Hi filthrons. first of all NEVER buy from maplins it is a very cheap system and you will have nothing but problems. a good little system in the uk is the little but very good avermedia EB3004 net. full internet viewer by . smartphone/iphone/BB. setting a maplins dvr up just to do the above it just cant do it.

    Remote Viewing with Blackberry

Hi allen9315. is it a avermedia you have as a dvr. or another make. ???
  21. Quite a few online retailers sell their cameras, cards and standalones. I imagine the warranty with a retailer wont be much though .. should still have the manufacturer warranty though. Do you know someone in EU? CNB gave me some German website that has exactly 1 (!) CNB Dome on it. This was supposed to be their German distributor - ridiculous. try videcon http://www.videcon.co.uk/products.php?l1=3

    Firmware upgrade ?

if your dvr is working fine ..... then i would leave it as is. you may do more harm than good. but update is on there site. http://www.tcootc.com/en/Down.asp
  23. Hi andy. if £300 is your budget for the full system then i would say dont install cctv. the reason why i say this is. for that price you will be looking at crap. as in real bad recording very very bad picture quality to the point that you yourself wish you never wasted your money. just being honest with you

    Looking for budget DVR

i am shocked that DM would bring out a dvr with such poor frame rate. RECORD RATE True global record rates of up to 100pps (PAL), 120pps (NTSC) at CIF. Assuming all camera channels are populated: • CIF available at 25pps (PAL), 30pps (NTSC) per camera • 2CIF available at 12pps (PAL), 15pps (NTSC) per camera • D1/4CIF available at 6pps (PAL), 7pps (NTSC) per camera and for that price you could get a avermedia 8 way or 2 4 ways
