port 8000 = port 80. sky will block you using this for you cctv. i have this problem with sky all the time. on the dvr set your port to 5550. then go back into your netgear and portforward 192.168.0.10 to that port 5550. then use google and type myip. this will give you your external ip. you only use this when you are away from your home. to view from home in i/e >>http://192.168.0.10:5550 from any other computer>>http://yourip:5550

it might be easyer to just put the dvr on the network. if you can tell us the make of your dvr then we can see if it is pos to do it that way. and it would not cost much.

if you are passing dvrs like avertech and avermedia which both have the spec you need. then you must have a bigger budget. i had this demo video sent to me last week from dm. also looks very good.

instead of using a protocol from the drop down. click add and call it cctv it will then ask you for the port entre 5550.

if you have pluged another camera into port 1 and it works then its not the port. if the faulty camera works in laptop. then you only have 1 problem left. the cable to that camera. the swan is a 5 pin plug and play if i remember so you have no power supply. ???

HI first dont load any software onto yopur laptop. the dvr will do that once you have a connection. on your dvr screen click setup and click network there you will see your dvr ip (local) make a note also you will see port if this is not 5550 then change it till it is. now log on to your router and portforward your dvr ip to 5550. restart everything and that sould be it. to log on from your local network this will be done by using your local ip. http://yourip:5550 from another area you will need to know your external ip. go to google and enter my ip. make a note of the ip and use that when away from your network http://yourexternalip:5550.

with rg59 you do not need the baluns. just remove them and connect your cameras with standard bnc. then see if your footage is ok.

the vsi is text overlay. you dont connect it to the dvr at all. if you are looking to put the data onto your dvr. you will need a pos box (to convert the data) then you can link it to your dvr. and you wont need the vsi. what make is your dvr ???

1080p with cif your customer will not be happy with the picture on the screen. i am with rory WHY WHY IN CIF why build an old system you have had some very good advice on here from people with years in the industry. but you wish to ignore it. from reading all your posts what i can make out is you are an installer selling cheap chines systems and now you are looking to build your own to make it even cheaper. what a way to run a buisness (cheap out of date dvrs) i will just leave you with this note Koolmer. a good installer has what is called a duty or care to its customer. i.e a system that does the job it is intended to do. to protect staff and property. with good back-up service from the installer. with cheap build your own chines systems this can never be done.

Hi SambaNoodles. if you have not done pos before you will find it hard and also it would be hard to give instructions on here. Geovision do an add on pos box which connect up to the epson but you will need to start making connecton leads. and this is were you need to know what you are doing. but they is another way. ave are the world leaders in pos data. tell them the till manufacture and they will send you out a unit that is plug and play. http://www.americanvideoequipment.com/vsimax.pdf

What do you mean? I have also checked Everview and Linovision, but if I buy the card from Netvision I get the Netvision Software for free with the card and I just mentioned before that the Netvision Software is the best one I have found for Hikvision cards. Besides that Netvision is not more expensive than the other Hikvision suppliers, but deliver better Software (imo). I have been working with Comart DVR cards for a few years, but the Comart Software is really poor compared to Netvision. I havent tried Geovision or Avermedia - they are just too expensive with hardware encoding. Why pay 2500$ for a card from Avermedia if the Hikvision card does the same for 560$? Better support? well the forum is a place to get advice and i have given you mine. and it sounds like you have not built a dvr before. but you still wish to buy from china. they has been alot of people who come on the forum after buying cards from china and ebay only to find the best place for it is the bin. other problems you will have are / does the pc you are going to add the card to have the spec for the card/ cards have to come with the drivers for that card (if not just bin it) then software and manual (oops yours will come in chinese) munchoa you say , I know support could be a bit of a problem you will get no support once they have your money its not there problem.

Hi munchoa. looking to buy cheap will only be the first of many problems. and remember they are 1000s of clone cards about. even more of a problem. you say you would prefer chinese. thats fine if you are in china. and you speak the lingo. but if you dont THINK OF SUPPORT when you start to build your dvr and you get into problem who are you going to call. pay a bit more for your card from a good supplier. it will save you time and alot of money.

if you wish to remain friends with your customer then stay away from installing that system. you would be best spending as much on the dvr as possable and adding to it over time. remember cheap systems are cheap and dont get better. the other option would be to install just 4 ip axis cameras. or the mobotix q24.

yes its the same. but you also can add an extra cat5 so you can zoom in or preset an area around your car and it will automatic zoom when someone goes near it. i will pm you. you are in the uk ?? what area are you.
