  1. Want to set up my office with some cams here is what i picked out so far:

    For Indoors

ARM Electronics 600BCDN bullet camera it has a 3.6mm wide angle lens should be good for covering a lot of space.

    For Outside

ARM Electronics C600BCDNSS bullet camera 3.6mm wide angle.

Also ARM Electronics C520BCDNWA which has a 2.2mm lens

Anyone have experience with ARM brand ?

For the DVR i am looking into

AverMedia EH1008H Hybrid DVR (8 Channels)

I know it has good reviews, this has good specs and it is hybrid.

I also saw "Mace 8 Channel 500GB Surveillance Digital Video Recorder" on B and H site, looks good as far as the specs just not sure of the brand name.

I would like to get some feedback on my choices, and if you have suggestions. I will be doing like 6 cameras and would like to stay at the 2k$ price range for everything.

I was looking at some kits such as "Swann" but i hear that all the kits like that are crap.

Hi avermedia hybrid is a good little dvr. but if your not going to use the ip side then Mace is also a good dvr. they also have dahua in there range. which are also good units. am not a big fan of internal cameras on arm brackets not very secure

  2. 3 cameras for the 30ft window. 30ft / 3 = 10ft per camera, 480tvl / 10ft = 48 pix per foot, this would be very poor for facial identification which is what they are looking for.

Hi Nimrod. please dont take this the wrong way but lens charts just dont work for me at all. a good vari focal camera will give you a very good face image at 10ft-20ft even 30ft

  3. do you not use paypal checker. i dont use ebay at all. but i do use paypal to pay my bills over in america

    Tom,

Could you recommend PayPal checker for Ebay?

I am old and frequent buyer on eBay and have never heard about such checkers. Therefore, I cannot discern two different buyers with the same PayPal account.

hi i dont use paypal on ebay i dont use it. i use wells fargo paypal system

  4. Hi Dima,

    Thks for your response.

The dvr I have in mind seems to be a black box with video inputs. Not windows based.

Was told by the cctv provider, that I will be provided with a certain website, which will serve to access my home router. At the website, key in dvr password to access CCTV footage.

Is this the normal online access for "black box" dvr?

Does this mean the website will have access to my dvr password (even though it appears as ***)?

How would you recommend to be more secure with online access?

    Thks in advance!

it does depend on what your cctv provider means. the dvr could have its own ddns server or he could just be setting you up with a ddns account both are secure. you could just get a static ip from your ISP (protected by your user name and password) you might be best putting a link up to the type of dvr you are thinking of buying.

  5. He may have a rather terse manner, but unfortunately he's right, you do need to give Factual info if you want assistance.

terse manner. no i dont think so this post has already taken 2 pages and the op has still not answered any ones questions.

but when he starts to call good long term members an ass. then things start to change. what new ops need to remember is its them that are having problems with there system and the forum members are here to help.

without the forum then its a call to an engineer and that cost money. members on the forum, lots with years of experiance that they have spent in time and $$$$ learning give for free.

call me wrong but i think respect is also needed if you want information from an engineer for FREE if not its time to pick up the yellow pages.

  6. “Its a full glass window/door about 30' wide and 10' tall. Would like that area covered by a camera capable of recording images at night and would probably want the cash register area covered as well.”

A 30 ft wide area would need a 5 mega pixel camera to cover it for 86 pixels per foot. This would give reasonable facial recognition. An example of this camera is here.

    http://www.arecontvision.com/index.php?section=product&subsection=product_details&product_id=10

Not enough detail given for cash register as to were it is or what you want to cover, it may be better to give it its own camera specific to its needs.

Also depending on outside layout 2 good quality analog cameras pointing each way down the side walk may be very helpful but you would still need 1 camera for overall view of window, but this one could be lower resolution.

Just 2 cameras, 1 for window and 1 for cash register could both be mega pixel IP cameras and depending who’s camera you buy you can get free recording software. Analog cameras would require stand alone DVR or computer with special analog capture card, or IP converters. Lots of possibilities here.

As you can see this can get complicated real quick.

Nimrod. do you do the costings for your company for the customer??? you are very quick to price yourself out of a job.

going from a costco system to 2x 5mp and 2 Analog is way over spec.

a simple good reliable Dahua 4 way dvr with 4 good cameras will do the job. i would stay away from the costcos/sam`s box systems. there are a few stockists of dahua on here. were are you located ??

  7. Someone? Please? I'm trying to PTZ my cams via iPhone for a bout half a year..

Hi this post has been running for a long time did you ask for help ???

Tried port 5550 and still can't move cams on scDVR and Bubo Bubo still says: "Could not connect to server. Please try again later.

can you pm me your ip with a temp password

  8. SDHX or SDXC class 6 or 10.

that is a problem my customers would not like $250 / $300 for 64GB card.

we have a customers with 3 tour buses that go from England to south Spain. for him to swap from avers to yours (avers will record all there and back on 1TB) 16 x 64gb = 1TB 16 x $250 = $4000 x 3 = $12.000.

i dont think we need to call NASA to see if we have a problem. H/drive is best

  9. signs are never a good thing on the side of your home. kids love it. and it can also bring more problems with neighbours. people dont like to see or think they are being watched.

before you fully install your system try it just for a day or so with the cameras just outside your window see what type of images you get. Maplin systems have a few problems 1 being burning off to usb other is quality cif units are old hat. check these things out first before you install everything.

last november in leeds we were asked to look at a maplins system. police were called 3 time and on each time the footage was usless. a usless system is just as bad as not having a system at all

  10. I agree, that HDD can work within mobile DVR continuously for quite long period (2 years and more) without problems

had them run even longer. now we cant tell if SSD will last as long because it has not been around that long in a size that can be used for large recordings.

p.s. Thanks for link to Seagate disk! It looks interesting! But for low temperature there is other problem - condensation, that brings water inside the system and such condensation inside HDD can kill the disk. I hope Seagate engineers has thought about it as well.

another insult to another company. i know you want to push your product but all you are doing now is making your company look stupid. if all you can do is insult other companies. what that does is make your company look desperate

  11. its like if we try to run our high performance cars that require 104 octane racing fuel,

    Actually, it's nothing like that.

    Best,

    Christopher

    hows that...

i thought you came on to ask about your cameras. if you give the info asked for you might be able to get your system working.

we need to know your camera power input .... not what you think it is.

the size of your new power supply

how far are your cameras away from your power supply

    type of cable used

  12. my question was, can a camera that is being supplied with LESS then required power be damaged...i thought i made that clear....

well it depends on your camera.

i know that average cameras require basically .550mah,

no not the case you mention IR so could be more and also you have what i call a kick in power (the time the IR comes on) to also add

i have since upgraded to a wall panel that outputs 12v but 1.5 amp each output..

what size is your power unit. each output may have 1.5 fuse but you need to know total output and how far from your power unit are your cameras.

you could still be under powered what power are your cameras or post a link.

  13. 2. Mobile DVR is not too much time are available on the market, so telling, that HD systems are presented longer at mobile DVR market is not very correct. Any IT specialist will tell you, that any DVR with moving parts like HDD or active cooling systems are not that suitable for vibrations and shocks that are definitely will be experienced at mobile applications.

well i think around 20 years with video tape units (vcl) and around 10 years for H/drive units is a long time.

to be honest with you. i think you would have been better joining the forum and letting people know about your products. and not compaire yours with avermedia a system you know nothing about. aver is onto its 8th year and 3rd model all with H/drive units 1000s sold around the world.

take a look at some of the posts on here guys have even used standard aver eb 4 way units as mobile dvrs with no problems.

so mobile dvr with H/drives dont have a problem. infact all your products except 1 has H/drive storage

  14. I am running Windows 7 at the moment with a Swann DVR USB connected to two cameras.

The only problem is that the SWANN device will only play nicely when connected to one camera. Once I connect two cameras, I get play back and recording errors.

So, to eliminate this problem, I would very much appreciate suggestions of DVR cards for my computer that can handle two cameras.

    Bundled software would be nice.

    Cheers

hi. take alook at the avermedia nv3000 or nv5000

  15. Hi Cougar.

what i would say is before you buy read on posts on the forum. it will save you money. the Nuvico AP-C1610 Apex series i would not touch. been out for a few years started life as a $4000 dvr now you see it for $3000 or $1900. that alone tells you its going to be discontinued very soon. also it is a very low spec dvr 6fps @ D1 is poor with other systems out there. that dvr and your camera posts just dont match $300 cameras on a 6fps dvr.

Dahua have dvrs with much better specs and they have now releast good cameras. but with your budget on cameras i would also take a look at hybrid units as you are in the ip range in price. have a mix and match of ip and standard.

this is another reason why the forum will save you money

    the honeywell camera at $300

yes its a CNB now price it under the CNB badge you might get 2 for the same price.

  16. Hi

Brit working here in Spain for last 21 years, Owner of a one man band electrical instalation company and recently have been installing CCTV systems , Look forward to meeting you all and learning.

hi what part of spain are you in. ???

  17. Firstly hi, I am new here so hello to you all, I have read many topics here, but still feel the need for help, I purchased a Sentient 250 gb dvr from Maplin, it will login on lan, but refuses to on wan, I have checked port forwarding with pf port checker software, it tells me the p[orts are correctly forwarded, it logs on fine on lan, and although I can access the dvr login page on wan, it simply says login error, I have seen many posts here saying the same, but have found no solution yet, please help, I have spent over a week trying this including returning the dvr for a new one.

    many thanks

    Keith

Hi keith. who is your ISP and do you have a static ip. remember you cant log on to wan from your network in most cases.

  18. many companys are now putting into there specs not to use green drives they just dont work WD even now have a statement green drives are not warranted on dvr use. (100s of people sending back, WD finding no faults) some HDrive manufatures even say not to use AV HDrives for DVRs they are designed for PVR were they are stopping and starting all the time .... which DVRs dont.
