1. Hi all,

I have a Hybrid DVR at a clients location with both IP and analog cameras attached. The problem is that the video feed from two of the analog license plate cameras freezes then accelerates so fast that the images disappear. The cameras are connected to Vivotek

VS7100 video servers. I had a Vivotek technician remote in and view the problem cameras. He claims that I have a network issue, but none of the IP cameras show the same behavior. I have connected the license plate cameras directly to a portable montior and the video feed is fine. Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?

Hi absolute. why are you using the vs7100 if you have a hybrid dvr ??

  2. is there a reason not to use the computer's power supply? it will continuously give 12v. not sure on the amps. Can someone point me in the right direction on the previous discussion. I've searched for computer power supply ptz and i didn't find the convo

it will be cheaper just to buy a 12v 5 amp power supply for your cameras. and you keep saying PTZ these cameras are not. what you have bought are standard 8mm fix lens cameras on a plastic PT head. max 1 amp. these cameras are just about ok in side a store (small store) but for outside use they are a waste of time

  3. I have 4 kt-300 panels. the each require a 16.5 vac 40va power supply. I want to consolidate the units to one power supply so I don't have all this power bricks sitting around. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

i dont know what you have your panels controlling. door locks / keypads ..... but i would say not a good idea. at the moment if one unit or power unit goes down you will only loose that zone. connect all nits to one power unit and everything goes down. yes each unit as battery back-up ....... batteries dont last long in that unit.

  4. didn't see the need to remove serial connections before upgrading as I dont think aver would be scanning ports for POS connections? The COM port does not change and com ports are functioning correctly - I have checked the serial data coming through the ports and it is perfect. Nothing has changed except aver version. I am going to roll back to 7.3 to prove that it is a version problem

on avers you should remove everything cameras/serial connections before you change any software. and yes avers does scan serial. as avers has moxa drives in the software. if needed for pos or ptz

  5. Had a problem I was hoping someone could help me with. I have an Exacq system and run a Mac with an airport extreme (with a second as an expander). I downloaded all the software and could view both within my location as well as remotely...for awhile. Later I could no longer even access the internet locally until I switched the configure IPv4 back to using DHCP from manual, which now negates remote viewing of the system, but local is still OK. Any help or ideas appreciated. Thanks.

sounds like your local ip changed for your dvr. you may have to re do your ports on your router to your dvr ip. do you have a static ip or are you using a ddns service.

  6. what make is your dvr ??? can you not narrow down your files to approx time of your footage needed

.dav files extension means Dahua recorders

Also, i'm every time wondering, about installers promises to customer.Like forensics search functionality. Lots of equipment manufacture companies can do ROI (Region Of Interest) search, but this is not "advanced motion search" .........

    what ???

  7. This is my fist post so....

I manage a large condo in Virginia. We've ordered (and received) GVI GV-NC-201VAH cameras for the garages. The plan is to run a conduit containing both CAT5e and 120vac to a junction box near each camera. The junction box will have an outlet for the 12VDC adapter. Then the CAT5e and the 12VDC line will run in a short section of conduit to the camera. However, after reading other posts about running 120vac and data in the same conduit, I'm wondering if we should run the CAT5e and a line carrying 12vac in the same conduit. The install is entirely inside the garages with max cable run of about 225 feet.

You help and suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

do you not have power in the garages to power your cameras local. and just use your cat5 for your ip camera.

Great question, Tom. Yes, we do have power in the garages but we're powering everything - cameras, bridges, monitors and computers - from UPS's as a precaution.

if you are protecting everything with UPSs then you will save with going POE with good switcher. then you will not need UPSs for your cameras.

  9. Good afternoon, I am working on designing a system for a grocery store. can this be done with out using IP cameras? I want to avoid stacking standalone DVRs due to the ability to review recorded material. any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you

    Jenelletech

yes it can be done no problem at all. but i would use at least two dvrs/nvrs for that amount of cameras. you could use a 64way dvr but if it fails you have nothing.

  10. Hi my friend,

  11. through serial connection. it worked fine on 7.3 for a year and then started falling over after upgrading to 7.7

did you remove your pos devices from your unit before you did your upgrading. ??? and is your com port changing all the time

  12. Is anyone experiencing POS problems with 7.7.0.0055SP3? since upgrading from 7.3 POS overlay drops out after an hour or so requiring a complete reboot.

Does anyone know how the POS application is coded? there must be a flag or somethng not being reset in the code somewhere?

how do you have your pos connected to your dvr ???

  13. you may have gone to far into your router settings. you only need services and firwall settings.

click security once loged on to your router.

then click services at the bottom of that window click add custom service.

then choose a name for the service i.e cctv.

then click TCP/UDP and then enter your ports number then click apply.

you will need to do this for each port needed so

    cctv = 80

    cctv1 = 6001

    cctv2 = 6002

    cctv3 =6003

    now click firewall rules.

    filter name = dvr

service = choose a rule you created i.e cctv(TCP/UDP 80) from drop down list.

    allow always

    your dvrs local ip 192.168.0.3

    wan user = any

do this for all your ports that you created and press apply after each.

then your done. use google to find your external ip myip.com you can then log on as http://yourip/port.

  14. Hi all,

I'm after some advice on a CCTV system for a domestic environment. I'm located in the UK and am in the countryside with no ambient light from street lights at night. I do have external lights which, at present, are on dusk till dawn sensors. I'm looking for good quality external dome cameras as they look better, in my opinion, than bullet cameras on the exterior of a domestic house. I need to cover all sides of the property so am initially looking at 5 cameras with the possibility of expansion to 8. Ideally I would prefer cameras with inbuilt IR in case the exterior lights are off.

I have so far looked at Concept Pro (UK name for CNB), X-Vision Professional, and various unbranded offerings. The Concept Pro look good but they don't do a dome with inbuilt IR. Their IR offerings look good but the cable connections are not within the housing or bracket and therefore won't look as neat as a dome style.

I would really appreciate some advice on quality cameras and recommendations.

    Many thanks in advance.

CNB in the uk with ir is called VVP9324DNIR but only has a 15m ir range. but if you have good outdoor lighting they are very good.

there is not much differance in size with the CNB vlp4026 which had 30-35m ir range bullet type.

  15. So many views to any post and so little replys

    why bother...

why buy cheap .......... as in crap ....... at the end of the day you will just loose money. yes many large companys have the equipment made in china but with good quality control. then you have the bad side of china the copy side. cheap cameras cheap parts and no warranty.

  16. We received an interesting call today from a towing company looking to install mobile dvr's in each of their trucks. They are looking to be able to monitor remotely, live, while the tow trucks are in service.

A couple questions came out of this:

    1) Does anyone currently use a reliable 3G/4G mobile DVR? Are there any specific standard mobile DVR's that a 3G/4G antenna could be configured on and operate reliably?

    2) How would the stream be while monitoring remotely with 3G at the DVR end and standard cable internet on the monitoring end?

one system you could look at is aver mobile. the problem is using a cost effective mobile network going on the Uverse network system might be a good one to look at in the UK it is supplied by vodafone and i think in america it is under AT&T

  17. originally no we didnt connect the video signal line, should have read the manual properly!!!

however now its connect we still have the same problem.

now you need to delete all the software you had for the aver and re-install now you have both cards attached

  18. I wish I could write more but I haven't been able to successfully start the software and see any sort of image. I initially bought this card because I thought it would be compatible with i-Catcher Console. I was wrong and I can't recommend this card to anyone. I tried the included software and have had many crashes.

A little background on me. I run a data center so I'm very familiar with computers and systems and this card has proven to be completely useless. If I can't set this card up in 30 minutes then it's worthless.

I can't trust any card that is this difficult to get working.

    Don't buy it.

The one app for it is called POS - Very fitting.

does it run on i catcher ????? does it say that anywere in the manual NO avermedias mistake no YOURs. yes.

your familiar with computers ???? many people all over the world buy this card and are up and running in 30 mins.

they follow the instructions. so whats your problem ???

  19. Hi guys,

We have a problem with our cctv system which has stumped us for quite some time now.

Originally we had 4 cams connected using a AverMedia NV3000 card, we have decided we needed more cameras and got another NV3000 card which was installed in the PC. It seems now that if we have more than one card we get a crosshatch pattern forming on the cameras every few minutes or so, e.g...

If we take out any one of the cards the problem does not occur again. Has anyone ever experienced this issue before?

We have replaced all the connections to the card and also tried a new PC!

    Many thanks,

    Dave

sounds like you have not linked the cards together ............ page 20 of manual. http://www.cctvengineer.com/NV_series_Manual_EN_v7.7.pdf

  20. Hi Guys,

Have just bought a 27X PTZ speed dome camera and have several low 'standard' cameras (0-1 lux sony ccd)

I currently use a generic 4 channel pci card with pico 2000 software but not really happy with the performance. I also have a swann 4 channel pci card that is essentially the same, think they may be a cheap copy of a Geovision card?

I'm not sure whether to go the standalone dvr or the computer card route. I have a couple of PC's sitting around at the mo. I know the PC is more versatile, but tempted to say a good standalone will be a easier option

I need remote viewing, and ideally for the iphone and also PTZ controls (up to 4 cams), perhaps 100fps, but nothing else too fancy. My budget is around 200 pounds.

Can anyone advise and recommend a system and I'm mew to CCTV and don't know what is available on the market.

    Any advice much appreciated

best wishes - Brian G Smyth

this is a good little unit. you can connect your ptz without buying a controller. http://www.avermedia.com/AVerDiGi/Product/Detail.aspx?id=232

  21. Hello,

I am due to self-fund on a five day CCTV Tavcom course in the UK, and i'm a little suspicious and naive regarding the industry and prospects etc. Answers to the following questions would be of great help.

    Is TAVCOM training recommended?

    Are there many career prospects?

Would I require experience in gaining employment in the industry?

Any help will be greatly appreciated

    Many thanks,

    Davey.

Tavcom are one of the best in the uk for training. but does cost. yes you will need experience to get into the industry. but that depends on your age. going by your name are you in bootle (liverpool)

  22. I probably posted this before but things change. Looking at a 4 channel NVR that I can demo various IP cams. Hopefully it will cover a lot of different mfgs and give me the ability to switch out cameras without going through the expense of buying new licenses each time. I have looked at Qnap any others? as usual price an issue. Will also look into milestone essential as I saw that discussed earlier.

the avermedia nano is ideal for what you need for showing standard or ip cameras. bpzle has used them he will be able to help with a price.
