hi, as per subject 'one cat5 to 3 poe ip cameras?', can this be done... if so how?

i'm new here, if this is a stupid question, please be gentle :-)

    regards

    gabriel

Hi Gabriel… yes it is very possible but depending on a few things

are the 3 cameras located in same area and the distance from cameras to recorder

but yes 3 cameras down one cat cable is done by running all 3 cameras to a 4way Poe switch

you then have the option to run one cat cable from switch to router or using tp-link Ethernet power adapters

  2. Hi. The first thing I would do is swap out your nvr ….. reason being the 900 nvr did not do what was on the box

4K HD was a dahua rendered 4K monitor display only unit (lorex is dahua) and I would not replace with either a lorex of dahua (you will be wasting your money if you do

also you will see I big improvement in your existing cameras both in display and storage

nvrs are cheap so I would look at going 16 way …8 for existing cameras and 8 for adding some cameras

    what is your budget

  3. Hi no it’s only hikvision software

2010 to 2016 was a bad time for hikvision there software had so much malware built in and spyware they were forced to change everything….. this also included iP camera software which was also replaced and had to be done in 2015

your problem points to camera firmware

if your system can’t see iP cameras iP address then you need to find the update for your cameras …… your iP cameras should be either 1.3 or 2mp build date should be

    Hikvision Firmware V5.3.0 build 150513

  4. Hi yes you can go 4K ….. but in most cases 4K on all cameras just takes away your footage storage space unless you buy bigger hard drives

i would still use a mix of 2mp upto 8 mp …. Having 4 or 5mp cameras protecting small areas is good enough in most cases 4K in large outdoor areas makes sense

I would look at the viper units …. They have the best remote app on the market we’re you have full control and also footage burn off and send via email

    :classic_huh::classic_huh: I am a CCTV beginner.

I find the CCTV footage file ended with ".ps" file extension.

How to open and watch it?

what kind of file it is?

    same as mp4?

Hi I think you might be looking at all this wrong

unless your system is old or pc based opening file extensions is a thing of the past

which dvr/nvr does the files come from ?
